GUYS
okay, so alex just confirmed that wake up sunshine is in fact a continuation of future hearts....
mind. blown.
many also predicted that sunshine was a continuation of last young renegade, but the guys explained that lyr is actually a solo story. even more so, the reason lyr is so deep and personal is because the album is meant to be alex viewing himself from other people’s eyes. WHAT I-
while lyr is not tied with sunshine, apparently monsters points to references in dirty laundry. WHICH MAKES 1000000% SENSE JUST LOOK
“now here’s some honesty sometimes i trip over your history”
“wish i could change my mind but it’s the things i shouldn’t see that always catch my eye”
“she’s got her secrets, yeah i got mine too”
now compare
“why do all the monsters come out at night”
“why do we sleep where we want to hide?”
“i swear everything look worse at night, i think i’m overthinking”
IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
anyways
now, if we look at sunshine next to future hearts, we see parallels in musical style and lyrics. we have that youthful summer sound in “don’t you go” and “runaways” in future hearts, just as we do with “sleeping in” and “summer daze” in sunshine. Yet, both albums also supply those beautiful and emotional ballads like “missing you” and “tidal waves,” alongside “safe” and “glitter and crimson.” So, while we thought the guys were releasing an entirely new summer jam album for us, in reality they were giving us a continuation of the iconic future hearts legacy.
i can’t with these emo dudes. do they ever sleep???
