Mysterious Mysteries:

This has gotta be one of my favorite episodes just because it’s so funny, that may not lend well to a lot of commentary tho

I dunno angry mutant beef jerky sounds pretty typical to me, maybe I’m just thinking of times after this episode

Sometimes it’s SO much funnier to leave things a mystery because what could have POSSIBLY happened “that last time” they used a submission of Dib’s

I’m curious how much of “The Dib Archives” is legitimate. And how much of it is Zim

Why did he barge into their house like that? It’s insane behavior

The lasers not lining up with where the ray gun actually is hahaha

The music when Zim shows up is absolutely perfect

Zim like flinches when he asks if he’s an alien

We the audience are used to having an inside perspective on what Zim’s doing, it’s only this one and like 2 or 3 others where we don’t really get to know. Was there really a distress signal? Was it from Zim? Or someone else? What was the glowing light thing? It’s a lot more funny that we don’t find out

Zim’s not even giving an explanation for what we can clearly see in the video, it’s just “Dib is a bully so he just told everyone I’m an alien”

I feel the only reason Membrane agreed to have anything to do with Mysterious Mysteries was to disprove something being paranormal, as was the case here. That’s really even worse for Dib huh

You can hear screaming and gunfire while they’re following Gaz on the sidewalk???

In the case of what actually happened, I’m sure Gaz kicking Dib was why the camera cuts out, and after that he probably did have to get it back from Zim. Those are the only parts I’m confident about lol

Gir showing up out of disguise with his face blurred HAS to be one of the funniest things in this episode.

Dib getting beat up offscreen is basically always gonna make me laugh, mostly because of Andy Berman’s amazing performance

This is one of 3 times in entire series where Gir says “Zim”

Literally I only know that because at 14 or 15 years old I watched the whole show and listed down how many times each character said Zim’s name.. anyway-

The crappy blue-screen of the squirrel clipping through is so amazing

Dib’s actor is being- lifted away on a gurney?? I have actually never noticed that

The blur effect losing tracking on Gir’s face for a second lol

Maybe I’m making things way too hard on myself with the mandatory Dib analysis, I think the problem lately is with getting into episodes that aren’t just “Zim has evil plan, Dib tries to stop him” but I’ll scrounge up what I can, so;

Dib’s role and impact: something finally came of one of his submissions to MM, and no matter how obvious, everyone hand-waved it away by discrediting Dib as crazy. His dad and his peers alike. I feel like this is a pretty real phenomenon, where something’s super obvious but people don’t like who it’s coming from so they don’t listen.

Our new Dib lore is that he somehow caused the MM host to get a scar or something? And I guess traumatized him??

Dib in this one describes Gaz as his “side-kick” which we all know is not true in the slightest lol I’m more inclined to believe this is him trying to make himself look better by exaggerating, rather than Dib just being delusional. Still, he’s said some pretty crazy things to Gaz before, and assumed some pretty crazy things of her.

No Zim-plot to stop except the plot of pretending to be a human, and the evidence Dib acquired was a good threat to that, but for the sake of status quo Dib’s not allowed to succeed here.

Future Dib:

“The man without whom this world falls into CHAOS-” we know that’s true and it makes you wonder why Zim didn’t try going after Membrane (specifically in the show) sometime. He has at least 2 reasons to do so

Zim’s getting pretty bold about using PAK-stuff in public, especially for something as simple as putting his little digital notepad away

Zim scurried off pretty quickly but still, how did he have enough time to ready this future-Dib robot spy plan including like the warehouse and stuff? Did he have a Dib-robot on hand? Because zero parts of me doubt that he would have a Dib-robot on hand

There’s an undisguised Zim picture in Dib’s closet along with the word “proof”

“Just like Membrane said it would” Zim’s first slip-up

Dvd commentary says they included the “wow I’m boring” line because it was an annoying amount of exposition and JV was hoping that would make it funny, “it didn’t” he goes on to say

A little impressive that Zim has a communicator he can give Dib that doesn’t look Irken, where did he get it? And did he account for Dib picking up on stuff like that?

Man poor Dib, of course he’d jump on the chance to have a copy of himself around

“Zim’s at the warehouse by dad’s compound.”See now Zim remembered to say “dad”

Leaving a recording of himself laughing is pretty clever on Zim’s part

“I knew I could trick you with my Dib-robot spy” you know I think this like does seem to imply that he already had it? At least a little

Silly

I love that they give the Dib-robot some of Zim’s mannerisms

Dib’s role and impact: Dib started this episode just trying to live his life, he did get worried about Zim when he heard the “wave-of-doom” part, but I think he assumed since he’d be there anyway that he’d be able to catch Zim in the act.

He didn’t manage to pick up on the one or two of Dib-robot’s zim-like speech patterns, which is a tiny bit surprising to me?

It’s pretty close tho, it’s believable for Dib to dismiss it and it would also be believable for him to catch on.

Dib fighting a monkey doesn’t tell us much about his character lol
