Stellarator: Well maybe if you give it a little twimst I'll like it more

This is a very good retrospective review. Seeing one of my all-time favorite games analyzed from the perspective of another Metroid fan who wasn’t introduced to this game until much more recently really offers a lot of compelling points and criticisms that my rose-colored glasses wouldn’t have made as clear to me. Despite its uniqueness and unmistakable identity, there are some parts of the story that do feel a bit undercooked (which, admittedly, I’m only just beginning to fully comprehend the loops and turns and twists of despite having been a lifelong fan of the title and having played through it countless times), and it could have stood to go the extra mile in some other areas as well. 

i was playing the game in my living room in like winter of 2003, i think i recall being in a place in-game that was ice-themed and in addition to the quiet atmosphere and the soundtrack putting me into a state of blissful calm, i remember someone pointing out that it was snowing outside. i looked up and the entire earth was covered in a blanket of white and i could just see the snow silently drifting down outside of the window. whenever i revisit that mental image i’m reminded of why life is beautiful and worth living and i guess that’s a rather weird way of coming to that conclusion but that’s why this particular game has always held a special place in my heart and always will
