no but isn't it so Fucked Up if Jon is really in there? spending 200 episodes of a series losing the fight against having his humanity stripped away and being reduced to nothing but a vessel to hold other people's horror and a voice to make those horrors known, and then being reincarnated as a text-to-speech program whose entire existence is based around subjecting the OIAR to statements. killing yourself to escape your fate and waking up to find you've become nothing but that fate. he has no mouth and he must scream. horror tragedy emphasis on the tragedy.

I know we all discuss nuances of P/Carlo and their differences and the complicated nature of them being the same but also different people at length (and I have my own opinions on all of that of course) but I don't see as many discussions about this in reference to Romeo. It seems like a widely recognized theme that Romeo is Romeo, and Sophia is Sophia, despite their Ergos also having been harvested and transplanted as Carlo's was, so I think it would be fair (following those beats) to assume that KOP Romeo isn't entirely all Romeo, just as P isn't entirely Carlo. And I think his line about them being friends (specifically the bit where he says "i remember you. No reason for us to fight, I suppose" kind of implies that he doesn't exactly understand the depth of his memory, or why he knows they shouldn't fight, but that he just remembers that he cared for Carlo and that's enough. I think this honestly sets up some super interesting dynamics between them not knowing the specifics of who they were/are to each other (aside from knowing theyd been best friends) post game (if Romeo had lived) and that they'd take solace in both their unspoken bonds of the past while also building a new/different future. also it's just an insanely gut wrenching example of an "in every universe" kind of relationship that revolves around these approximations of 2 dead boys that cared about each other enough to reawaken as entirely new forms of humanity.
