Maleficent never did much care for how much he pushed the limits. The repercussions of preforming an abundance of magic had smacked him in the face too many times to even care for anymore. A few scorched limbs meant nothing, burn marks on old clothing hardly made him flinch. He just didn’t want to be consumed by the fire, that was all. He wanted it to remain a small flame, not a living, breathing, thing that grew until it had swallowed him whole.
And then there was Tony Stark. What a curious one he was, he had been so… Intrigued by his works of magic, so wondering, like a small child. And unknown to the sorcerer, they would become so much closer than two strangers that happened upon each other on a warm spring day in the cool and hidden springs of a park. They would become more than those friends who sat around together and watched pointless movies merely to clear away the accumulation of desperate thoughts like the cobwebs on an abandoned home.
It barely hurt him anymore, seeing his fingers go black as he had to tame down the flickering swirls of magick that raced through his veins and insisted to be free. His icy hues fluttered softly at the sensation of lips pressing against them, breath hitching slightly at the odd sort of affection he found there.
He gazed down at the genius with a quirked brow, a smirk dancing across the slope of his supple lips, his own head mirroring the cocky tilt that he was presented with.
”Much better. Just like magick, are you sure you do not possess magick abilities as well?”
His voice was quiet, the soft rumble of thunder, gentle, after the rain had faded and the sun started to emerge from the gloom of clouds.
Tony was very fascinated by the magic that ran through the veins of the other. It was only by chance that they met, by chance that they were in the same park when Tony spotted the other doing magic, and by chance that he decided to wonder over there and ask him about it. Most of it was slight of hand, but not this one. This one was real.
Though it did come with worry, the last time Tony had met someone who could use magic, real magic, he hadn't had the best time. Being thrown off of his own building and nearly dying to save the city, it did come with worry, wondering if the same thing would happen to him again; but he doubted it, this one, he seemed nice.
He seemed genuine and Tony could sense it about him, which made him all the more confident when he leaned down to press a soft kiss to each fingertip on both of his hands, the cool mixing with the warmth of the fire, it was a nice sensation; and an odd one at the same time, kissing someone's fingertips that he had only known just a few months.
But it felt right, because this one didn't know much of Tony's fame, or of his reputation, and he could rebuild himself around Maleficent, he could rebuild his entire life around this new person, and that was something that he liked about knowing strangers from other worlds and different planets. They knew nothing of who he used to be.
They would learn of who he was now. Of the new person he had become. Because he had changed, he had; but people couldn't see that, couldn't see past the reputation he had built for himself in the past few years.
When he spoke, Tony burst into laughter.
"I'm positive. I don't hold any magic in my genes, I'm just your average, normal human."
