Fun Fact Friday! This week we bring some fun facts about #garnet. Most commonly known as the birthstone for January, garnet as been a favorite stone through out history. Garnet was thought to offer protection, so it was worn by warriors going off to battle. It was also a similar belief that gave birth to the idea of garnet being a stone of healing. Due to the stones hardness and association with the color of blood, it was even crafted into bullets due to the belief that they would be more lethal. There are also biblical origins for garnet as well. Carbuncle (a name used for any red stone but most commonly garnet) was said to have provided light to Noah's ark. Although while this is debated, it is said that garnet was one of the stones in the high priest's breast plate that is mentioned in the book of Exodus.
