Kween Fumiyo
How I feel about this character
Okay look. I’m sorry in advance for this small rant, but I feel a LOT about Fumiyo.
Like Shinji, this is a character I’m kinda known for hating. UNLIKE Shinji, my hatred reminds as strong as ever. Let me paint you a picture. The year is 2005. I’ve watched the BR movie and read the novel one year previously. I’ve fallen in love with my girl, Izumi, thanks to how much Yutaka loves her and how beautifully he talks about her. So much of what it took to piece together Izumi’s character is told to us through Yutaka and his strong feelings. So in 2005, I get the Battle Royale manga for the first time. As the chapters where I know I will finally get some panels of my girl draws closer, I get more and more excited. Oh, there it is. Yutaka is crying, talking to Shinji. Any mintue now...
And I see her face. HER FACE. That NOSE. Fumiyo.......... And Yutaka starts talking, about how beautiful FUMIYO is, about how he wishes he could have saved FUMIYO... Frame upon frame of FUMIYO.
Guys, there were some VERY questionable choices in this manga, but I’m ngl, this one hit me hard. You can only imagine my disappointment. I KNOW this isn’t like the character Fumiyo’s fault, obviously, but it left me feeling very irrationally angry everytime I see her, and she’s included in the Neutral group over Izumi, or Yutaka’s crush is considered on her instead. Aaaah!! JUST GO AWAY FUMIYO!
That’s how I feel about this character.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Fumiyo/Knife. A beautiful duo. It really gave her everything she deserved.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Fumiyo canonly has zero friends and is hated by everyone. Her only friend is the school nurse, but even that is a stretch, as the nurse only keeps her around because she feels bad for her.
Seriously, it’s been confirmed.
My unpopular opinion about this character
She does not belong in the Neutral group. Not wanted. Sorry. LEAVE.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
You know........ Novel canon is the only one I accept. She whispered, she got knifed, she was gone. No one mentioned her again and her memory was soon forgotten. And that’s the way it was always meant to be. So it’s perfect.

オペラのスピリット || Fumiyo || Motive Reaction || [Attn: Mitsuo]
Fumiyo Oshiro was tired. The opera singer had felt as though she had gone through a lot in the past few days, and as of now, she was thoroughly winded and fairly done with the intruders. Even at the discovery of the eel and the jellyfish girl, she was more confused than anything as to why they were there. There was no reason for it.
Right?
Her thoughts were broken by an announcement sounding, and the opera singer adjusted her dress as she slunk over to the appointed place. This was becoming too much for her, and she bit her lip as she beheld the assembled crowd. What was all of this? Was someone going to attack her again?
...
A motive, was it? A motivation to murder? The girl was certainly angry, but this was... This was pathetic. There was someone among them who was a traitor, and the bear... thing was using that as a motive? How utterly... well, she didn't have the words for it.
Inane? Probably. Yes, that's how she would describe it as, completely stupid.
And thankfully, the others appeared to be sharing her sentiments. She didn't think much of it in the first place, and this was, again, quite stupid. So, the opera singer did what was logical to her, and walked right over to a certain individual.
"Mitsuo-kun... I... I've been meaning to ask, are you well? With the motive and everything."
She paused.
"Even if it is rather silly."

My, the day was certainly passing quickly. The opera singer found that she barely spoke to one person before another came up to her, and that, coupled with the excitement of it call quickly swept her up. However, the opera singer was far from reaching her goal, and she was eager to be interacting with still other people. That was why she was currently heading back to the hotel, and why she was fixing a critical green eye on her surroundings.
Though certainly not the other students, that would never do.
She walked through the lobby and eyed all of the chairs, giving an instinctive nod of approval to the spotless table. With her inspection out of the way, she gave a momentary glance to the reading material before looking up again and biting her lip. There was another option open to her, but the question was if she would actually go back on her goal. After a few seconds' deliberation, she decided against it, but she slipped a book inside her dress for future reference.
Another twenty-odd minutes of wandering followed, until Fumi eventually began thinking about certain aspects of the situation, such as what happened between the time she left for Kaiyou and now. Realizing that she most likely should have been thinking about such things long ago, the opera singer heaved a sigh and leaned against a nearby wall rubbing her temples.
After a few minutes of thought, the idea that she had of meeting everyone in the place also joined the previous one, and Fumi eventually came to the realization that she might try requesting an opinion of the entire thing.
But who would be the one she could ask? She looked out at the surrounding area through half-closed lids, and the opera singer eventually settled on one other particular individual. Pushing herself off the wall, she began striding towards him, eventually stopping a few meters away.
"Sir? Excuse me? May I ask for your advice?"
And she blinked imploringly at him, tilting her head to the side.

An invigorating talk with her roommate later, Fumiyo was ready for more excitement and socialization. She took it upon herself to converse with every single person here, or at least as many people as she could manage, and she was one person closer to meeting her goal. The opera singer strode forward, a happy expression on her face, and she began humming a tune to herself as she proceeded. Who was next, again? Granted, she didn't know any of the people on this trip personally, but she felt as though she had seen some of them at school. Or so she thought.
In any extent, Fumi found herself back out on the square, where she glanced about before making her way over the the fountain and sitting down. The opera singer took in a deep breath, staring down at the water and running her fingers gently along the cool surface. Yes, this was going to be excellent, she felt sure of it.
What she didn't notice, however, were the footsteps coming up behind her. In fact, she was so lost in her own reflection that she nearly fell in once she realized that another person was standing there. Fumi then turned and blinked at the other, a small smile appearing on her face. She had collected herself quickly, and she gave a clearing of her throat.
"Why hello there. I do not believe I have seen you before?"
She stood up gracefully and bowed, not breaking eye contact the entire time. Fumi then made to extend a hand but decided not to follow through.
"My name is Fumiyo Oshiro. It's a pleasure to meet."
And with that, she continued blinking at the other individual.
