Sometimes, itâs heartbreaking to realize that the people who should see you most clearlyâyour family, your closest friends, or anyone closest to your heartâdonât always recognize your good side. Itâs painful when you feel like the version of yourself that they know is shaped by misunderstandings, unhealed wounds, or circumstances that brought out your defenses rather than your strengths. Whatâs worse is when you know deep down that itâs not entirely their fault or yours, but a result of the toxicity that has shaped your interactions. You didnât respond in ways that reflected your best self, and they didnât create the space for that side of you to shine.
Itâs a heavy weight to carryâto feel unseen or misunderstood by the people you long to be closest to. You wonder, âDo they even know the real me? The one whoâs trying, whoâs kind, whoâs capable of so much love and goodness?â Instead, all they seem to see are the cracks, the flaws magnified by the cycles of pain that no one seems able to break.
Healing in a space like this is not easy. You might wrestle with the idea of forgivenessânot necessarily for them, but for yourself. For the times you reacted in ways youâre not proud of. For the parts of yourself you had to hide to survive. And for the love you gave that wasnât always returned in the way you needed.
But in the midst of this ache, there is a deeper truthâGod sees you.
He sees the corners of your heart that no one else has noticed. He knows the parts of you youâve had to hide and the moments when youâve felt too broken to be worthy of love. He knows every flaw, every mistake, every sharp word you regretâand still, He calls you His.
Where others see your weakness, God sees your potential. Where others hold on to your failures, God remembers your efforts. And where others fail to love you fully, God loves you perfectly. Not because youâve earned it, but because He is love, and you are His child.
So even if they never acknowledge your growth, even if they never see the goodness in you that others doâGod already has. He saw it before you even realized it was there. And that means your worth isnât dependent on their recognition. Itâs already secured in Him.
You donât have to exhaust yourself trying to prove that youâre enough. You donât need to carry the burden of constantly explaining yourself, hoping theyâll finally understand. Because God already understands. And His opinion of you will never change.
Let that truth sink inâyou are fully known and fully loved. Not in spite of your flaws, but including them. He doesnât love the âperfectâ version of you; He loves the real youâthe one whoâs still healing, still growing, and still learning how to rise after falling.
So donât let the worldâs inability to see your light make you doubt that itâs there. God placed that light in you. And no amount of misunderstanding or rejection can put it out.
Keep shining, not to prove yourself, but because you were made to shine. Keep growing, not to earn love, but because you are already deeply loved.
And most of all, rest in this: The One who knows you best loves you most. And that is more than enough.
