A queer, mixed race writer working in a largely white, male field, science and conservation journalist Sabrina Imbler has always been drawn to the mystery of life in the sea, and particularly to creatures living in hostile or remote environments. Brookfield Concert Series: Struggle Monkey- friday 6:30-8:30PM - Brookfield Town Park, 100 Pocono Rd.- Brookfield Concert Series presents Struggle Monkey for an epic back to the 80's concert experience fronted by guest singer Jonny James from the iconic band "Back Stage Pass". This is a free admission, all ages event. Hear the best of the MTV era complete with Stuggle Monkey' stage show, lights and LED screens. A local show like no other. This evening will also feature guest bassist Jason Deren from the band "Hijacked".

Play: Restored to Reason-  Friday & Saturday 8PM, Sunday 2PM- Sherman Playhouse, 5 CT-39, Sherman- written by Elizabeth Young and directed by Jane Farnol.  This drama explores the period when Mary Todd Lincoln was committed to a mental hospital and the arguments for her release.  It examines our biases of our definitions of sanity, the generational impact of family trauma, and the arguments for self-determination for Mary Todd Lincoln. Musicals at Richter’s Fairy Tale Theater for Young People - Saturday 11AM- noon- Musicals at Richter, 100 Aunt Hack Rd, Danbury- The four-week series of shows includes: “Me and Star: A Sybil Ludington Story”(July 18); “The Three Little Pigs” and “The Reluctant Dragon” (July 25); and “Rapunzel and Baby Yaga” (August 1).  Robert Mayette of Ridgefield adapts and directs these classic tales, performed by an ensemble of young area actors. The hour-long, interactive performances include plenty of audience participation, a show-related craft activity, birthday recognitions and a visit with narrator and troubadour Alan-a-Dale, played by Mayette.   Grounds open at 10:30 a.m. for the craft activity, with the show at 11 a.m. Bring blankets or chairs for seating on the lawn, along with sunscreen; the performance will move indoors in the case of inclement weather. Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased at the door. A small snack and drink concession is available.

Memorial for the 73rd Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice July 27, 1953- Monday 10AM- Danbury War Memorial, 1 Memorial Dr, Danbury- A small memorial to the end of the war featuring information from local veterans organizations, a small speech from the mayor, a wreath laying, and Taps being played.

Poetry in the Garden- Mondays in July- Workshops at 3 p.m. Poetry Readings at 7 p.m.- Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center, 152 Main St. Ridgefield- Now in its sixth season, Poetry in the Garden welcomes poetry lovers and the culturally curious to a season of readings, music, and workshops. This year's theme is "Voices of the New Revolution": each Monday evening in July, nationally acclaimed poets will share works that stand defiant of oppression and injustice, opting instead for empowerment, creativity, and empathy.  Workshops begin at 3 p.m. and are limited to 25 seats. Open to writers of all experience levels and genres. Readings are free for all to attend. Doors open at 6:30pm and readings begin at 7pm. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the events, held in KTM&HC's historic walled garden. In the event of inclement weather, the readings move inside, to KTM&HC's Garden House.

Ballet Under the Stars- Monday 7:30PM- Musicals at Richter, 100 Aunt Hack Rd, Danbury- A dynamite program of classical and contemporary ballets performed by the company's sensational soloists. Artistic Director Brett Raphael will narrate this free, family-friendly program supported, in part, by the Danbury Cultural Commission. An informal meet-and-greet with the dancers will follow the performance. 

CHIRP: Concert Happenings in Ridgefield's Parks-  Tuesday 7PM- Ballard Park, Ridgefield-  Bring a blanket, chairs, and a picnic dinner. Two milestone anniversaries, one stage. The Ridgefield Chorale celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026 as CHIRP marks its 25th. Founded in 1976, the 65-member mixed choir is led by Artistic Director Daniela Sikora, who celebrated her own 25th anniversary with the Chorale in 2023. Known for its vocal excellence, the Chorale performs contemporary music from a cappella to Broadway, jazz, and world music. 

Carillon Concert- Wednesday noon- St. James' Episcopal Church, 25 West St, Danbury- Experience an enchanting outdoor carillon performance by former St. James' carillonneur Kristin O'Conner Vece. This special performance in the garden features memorial music for George Bogart. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair for the garden seating, or enjoy the performance inside the air-conditioned church.

Speed Friending for ages 21-45- Thursday 6:30-8PM- Brookfield Library,  182 Whisconier Road- Celebrate World Friendship Day with Speed-Friending. Attendees will get approximately 5 minutes to answer ice breakers and chat with others in an organized fashion. Please note: Speed-Friending may be structured the same, but it is NOT Speed-Dating. The goal is to make new platonic friendships. Register online.
