âDonghyuckâŠâ You sing, waltzing into his room. Heâs sitting at his desk chair, facing his computer monitor with a pair of headphones on, making you pout at the back of his head for his lack of attention towards you. Dropping your things onto his bed, you sneak up behind him and slide your hands down his shoulder.
âYou scared me.â He jumps the second your hands touch him, momentarily taking his focus off of the game before you hear the rising shouts of his team members through his headphones to focus. âI thought you were Johnny.â He settles into your touch after you connect your hands over his chest, not caring that his friends on the other side of the headset could hear him talking.
â.... Does Johnny touch you like this a lot?â You ask, teasing your boyfriend.
âYeah, you jealous?â He taunts back, making you roll your eyes and set your chin down on top of his head to watch him play. When his player dies and the round ends, Donghyuck sighs in defeat and throws his headset onto the desk.
âI just lost. Come console me.â He dramatically cries, opening his arms and throwing his head back with closed eyes. You giggle as you turn his desk chair and slide onto his lap, getting comfy as he wraps his arms around you. He has a black hoodie on to keep him warm, but gym shorts and white socks on his lower half that makes you snort at his comfy get up. You press a kiss to his lips, and Donghyuck traps you when you try to move away. âConsole me harder!â
âOkay, but I want something in return.â You bargain.
âThatâs not how this works but okay, continue.â Donghyuck blinks and nods at the same time, his thin-rimmed glasses reflecting off of the light that shines from the corner of the room.
âI want your hoodie.â You tug at the drawstrings of the mentioned article of clothing, curling your lips between your teeth.
âGo pick one out of my closet.â Donghyuck nods over to the other side of the room while squeezing your waist.
âBut I want this one.â You tug at the drawstrings harder, now pouting. Youâd probably never tell Donghyuck how much you love wearing his clothes. Even after over a year of dating and stealing many of his hoodies, shirts, and sweats, youâd never admit how nice it feels to wear something of his right after he has been wearing it. Even if it may seem gross to some people, you like smelling Donghyuckâs natural scent around you when youâre running late night errands, or eating out, or just being lazy on Sunday mornings.
âFine, but I think I deserve a big kiss for this.â Donghyuck groans, standing both of you up and taking his hoodie off. His undershirt lifts up slightly and you poke at his exposed belly, making him flinch and hide his tummy while you laugh. He helps you pull the fabric over your head and down your frame, leaning in and pouting his lips comically after your head pops out.
You grant his wish, landing your lips square on his own and surprising him with the amount of fervor you kiss him with. He moans in satisfaction, allowing you to slip your tongue in between his lips just for a moment; your fingers tangle into his hair and tug gently to bring him closer. Heâs left wanting more when you pull away with an innocent smile, as if you hadnât just stuck your tongue into his mouth, and watches you bounce to his bed.
âBrat.â He calls after you, but leaves you alone as you settle down under his covers. The room turns silent once again, only the sounds of Donghyuckâs keyboard tapping and his comments to his team members filling the room.
Youâre not a fool; you know that you wonât be able to pull your boyfriend away from his video games until he and his teammates are satisfied for the night. So you get comfy, plug your phone into your charger, and hug Donghyuckâs pillow as you mindlessly surf through whatever social media app you click first.
Itâs not until you shift around on the bed that you feel a piece of paper in the pocket of Donghyuckâs hoodie. Youâre only trying to pull down the hoodie over your thighs, but the feeling of the paper surprises you. You take it out of the pocket, blinking in surprise when you recognize your name at the top of the paper in Donghyuckâs handwriting.
âY/N, youâre a little brat for stealing all of my hoodies and leaving me cold all the time⊠but youâre my little brat.â
You laugh at the message, looking towards Donghyuckâs chair to see if he noticed you giggling to yourself, but he remains entranced by his video game. You neatly fold the message and tuck it into your bag, a dumb smile lingering on your lips as you get comfortable again. Your head feels lighter with happiness and your chest almost hurts from how much your heart is beating. It truly is the littlest things with Donghyuck that make your head swirl out of pure love for him.
âïžâïžâïž
âRock, paper, scissors. Loser has to make dinner.â Donghyuck mumbles sleepily into your hair, his arms wrapped around your waist and his legs wrapped around your hips telling you that he has no plans of losing this game. Despite it being almost midnight, you and Donghyuck have only just woken up; his rehearsal ran late and he decided to crash at your place. Now, you have a tired and hungry boyfriend clinging to you, and you almost feel bad for playing scissors against his paper.
âYou hate me, donât you?â Donghyuck sniffs, digging his head further into your hair and letting out fake sobs.
âKeep this up and Iâll have to say yes to that.â Your empty threat makes Donghyuck quit his acting and sit up straight, giving you a playful glare before shimmying off the bed and leaving the room. You lay in your position for a while longer, a blissful and unaware smile on your face as you hear your boyfriend move around the kitchen. You decide to go help him before he burns something just to spite you, sitting up and looking around the room for something to wear to keep you warm.
Spotting Donghyuckâs sweats, you dart towards them and wiggle them on, shortening the length of the leg and putting your hands in the pockets to fix them, too. Much to your surprise, you feel a piece of paper in one of the pockets. Taking it out, you turn the folded secret in between your fingers, wondering if this is like the last message Donghyuck left you in his hoodie a few days ago. Curiosity beckons you to unfold the message, and a part of you expects it to be some random drawing Donghyuck made earlier today or maybe a to-do list he forgot to throw away.
However, your name is printed in his handwriting at the top, just like in the last note:
âY/N, you know itâs weird to wear my pants, right? None of the hyungsâ girlfriends wear theirs! I know that you love my clothes, and I know you wonât ever say it out loud. So, my closet is your closet, babe.â
Despite the playful nature of this note, your heart strings are tugged and pulled by his words. There is something so innocent and all-encompassing about that one phrase: âwhatâs mine is yours.â
You havenât said those three words to Donghyuck yet: âI love you.â Youâve been dating for so long and have gone over so many speed bumps in your relationship that you havenât had the need to say âI love youâ to each other, you both justâŠ. know it already. Through actions, through what you do for each other to make your relationship work, through sticking up for one another, you know you love each other. However, now more than ever, you feel like telling Donghyuck you love him. Your actions have spoken for themselves, and now itâs time to make them audible.
Youâre sure Donghyuck didnât mean to get this deep with his note, but his sentiment shows you a part of him that heâll never vocalize out loud. Donghyuck shows his love by sharing, whether itâs sharing his affection, his touch, his clothes, his foodâ he shares whatâs his with those he loves. To take it a further step and say that what he owns is yours, too, makes you feel all soft and warm for the boy that is surely messing up your kitchen in the other room.
You leave his new note next to the other one you found, sitting them side by side on your desk before heading out and joining your love. You can think about Donghyuckâs unspoken and subconscious love language later. Now, itâs time to savor it in person.
âïžâïžâïž
âDonghyuck-ah! You better get your butt on this dance floor before I drag you over here.â Donghyuck hears Johnny call him from across the room, the rate of dropping his things and taking off his jacket quickens at the threat from the lovable (but not always gentle) giant.
Donghyuck starts taking his phone and wallet out of his pantsâ pockets to drop them down onto his backpack. In the midst of all the hurry, he sees a white paper fly out along with his phone and land peacefully on the wood floor. Donghyuck blinks at it, wondering if maybe you hadnât seen his little note that he left in these pants a few days ago.
He picks up the piece of paper and immediately notices that this is not his own note, the heart drawn on the outside of the folded paper hinting that maybe this is a note from you. Donghyuck unfolds it, forgetting about everything his members are doing behind him, his wonder getting the better of him.
âDonghyuck, I hope you donât really mind me stealing your clothes, Iâll be doing it for a long time~ Have a good practice, Iâll always be cheering for you.â
Donghyuck needs to go to practice. He needs to focus on the choreography heâs supposed to learn today, but he can only stare at the note silently, his hurry from before no longer present. He feels softer holding the piece of paper in his hands; he wants to fold it back up and keep it with him forever.
He started leaving notes for you in his clothes just to tease you about the fact that he knew you love wearing his things, but now he wonders if his notes had the same effect on you as your note did on him. Donghyuck takes a deep breath, an internal battle for what his next actions should be begins in his head, and then he turns to the rest of the room.
âIâm sorry.â He bows politely, regret in his voice but eagerness on his face. âI have to make a call.â The choreographers and the rest of his members look puzzled, but donât stop Donghyuck from walking out of the dance studio with his phone. In the hallway, Donghyuck leans the back of his head against the wall and dials up your number on his phone with muscle memory. It only rings once before you answer.
âDonghyuck? Arenât you supposed to be at practice? Whatâs wrong?â
âI love you.â
The words pour out of Donghyuckâs lips like he has never uttered a word in his whole life, until now. Saying the words out loud feels like putting in the last puzzle piece. He says the three short words with convictionâ with adoration. All of his feelings seem like theyâre pouring out of him, as if he had an unstable dam built up around his heart and those three words were the earthquake that shattered its foundation. Donghyuckâs chest tightens, his heart feels like a boa constrictor is squeezing all of the love out of it for you in this one moment.
âI love you, too.â He hears you say and the dumbest smile on his face forms, making him let out an airy laugh.
âIâm sorry I did this over the phone, but I saw your note,â Donghyuck looks down at the words you wrote to him, clutched in between his slender fingers, âI couldnât stop myself.â
âI know the feeling. Leaving notes in your clothes for me was too cute, you couldnât be the only one doing it.â Donghyuck loves how warm your voice sounds when you talk to him, he considers skipping practice to go to your place and kiss the life out of you.
âI want to see you. Now.â He says instead, his feet itching to leave the dance studio and run to the nearest bus stop.
âNo way, you need to work. You can see me tonight, and then you can tell me those words in person, too.â Donghyuck is impatient, like a child waking up at 5am on Christmas morning knowing they shouldnât wake up their parents but still wanting their presents. He turns his shoulders, his forehead now leaning against the wall as he hides from the rest of the empty hallway.
âOkay, but you better be ready for the best cuddles of your life.â
âOh, no. Maybe you should come now, I donât think I can wait.â You both laugh. Donghyuck feels light-headed with tenderness for you.
âI love you.â He says again, a smile playing on his lips.
âI love you, too. Now, go work hard. Iâll be cheering for you.â The last thing Donghyuck hears is the smile in your voice and the kiss you send him through the phone before the call ends. He has to take a deep breath, not moving from his position against the wall. Donghyuck is not sure how heâll be able to focus for the next three hours, but he drags his feet back into the room and begins practice with you on his mind and in his heart, and your note folded back up and tucked safely into his pocket.

You would have never thought youâd be wishing for some expensive sound proof headphones at four in the morning. Â Not when you remembered the building owner saying that the place was peaceful and perfect for a university student like you. But because of your upstairs neighbour, Lee Donghyuck, it was bluntly known to those who lived around him that this detail no longer exists with him around.
You suddenly remembered the first night after he had moved in. You were ecstatic to have someone your age in the building. It was a good change from the small families and aging elderly. The idea of making a new friend that lived so close to you brought a deep sense of excitement. But all those thoughts were cleared from your head once you had realized that Donghyuck was going to be that type of neighbour.
He seemed to save graveyard hours for his gaming, not being shy to shout out strings of profanities and shouts of victory with his entire chest. The floors were nearly as thin as paper and everything that spewed from his mouth had gone dead straight into your ears. It was if he was sitting in your living room.
Groaning deeply, you push yourself off of your bed and run your fingers roughly through your hair, preparing yourself to face the devil himself. You slammed a fist into one of your many pillows and stood up, sliding your feet into your slippers in the process. All this energy wasted and sleep lost for one irritating boy that didnât know when to shut the fuck up.
âNo,â Donghyuck smirked, âIâm not going to kindly shut the fuck up.â He leaned against the doorframe and scoffed, âEspecially since you asked me.â You could barely see his eyes as his bangs covered them like drapes. In his hand he held his headphones, one of those fancy ones that lit up.
âDonât make me tape your mouth shut,â you threatened and rolled your eyes, âWhen are you going to learn?â
The smirk on his face deepened as he leaned closer to you, âOh I did. But I choose not to apply that knowledge.â He returned to his previous pose, tapping his foot impatiently.
Breathing fire, you scowled and let an angry sound erupt from your chest. You knew it wasnât going to do anything yet you let it out out of pure frustration.
âAre you done now? I need to get back to gaming,â Â he stuck a lip out as if he were begging you to leave, but it made you cringe so hard that that alone would have had you willingly fleeing from his floor and back to yours without question.
âNo, Iâm not done,â you retorted through gritted teeth, âCan you do your fuckingââ
âCan you two please keep it down?â Donghyuckâs neighbour had poked her head out her own door, eyes unable to keep open. She was wrapped tightly in a robe and was probably half asleep. You felt bad. You knew how she felt. It was unfortunate that she lived next to a human air horn.
âYeah, keep it down,â Donghyuck sniggered, directing all fault to you, âIâm sorry, Mrs. Seo but Y/N here is being quite an irritating little rat. Goodnight, Mrs. Seo.â Without a second thought nor glance, Donghyuck closed the door in your face, making sure to laugh out loud in the process.
You shot him one last glare at him through the door, hoping heâd somehow unconsciously feel the heat from your eyes and flipped him off all before turning sharply towards the stairs.

Donghyuck wasnât one to have his moods change quickly. Often heâd spend an entire day in a good mood and if not, a terrible mood. And today, after meeting up with his friends across town, he could sense that this day could not go wrong.
It was about mid-afternoon when he arrived back at the building. From the busâ view, he had spotted a fire truck parked along the fire lane in front of the apartment building. Off to the side, he could see familiar faces anxiously waiting to get back into their building.
âMrs. Seo?â Donghyuck was puzzled at the scene. It was as if heâd walked into a movie theatre in the middle of its showing. There was no context provided and he was desperately curious.
âDonghyuck, itâs your room,â she hadnât held back any information, âI heard Lisa and the twins arriving home from school and they knocked on my door and pointed at smoke leaking from underneath your door⊠we called the fire department andââ
âWho is the owner of apartment six-jay?â A firefighter slipped through the crowd, voice with great clarity in order for everyone to hear. Donghyuck has raised his hand. Everyone was soon led back into the building, being directed towards the stairs instead of the elevator as they had been shut off.
The firefighters led Donghyuck to his room once everyone had finally gotten to their own apartments. Donghyuck hadnât completely processed the fact that his home was almost probably all ash. He needed to see it to believe it.
The door had been kicked to the ground, basically demolished. What used to be his kitchen was nothing but darkened wood and his living room was almost unrecognizable. Donghyuckâs mind runs back to all the previous belongings he had that were probably lost in the fire. He felt his shoulders grow heavy and his posture worsened by the second.
âThe fire started from your room and it quickly spread throughout the apartment. Itâs a wonder how the fire didnât spread throughout the entire building, but everyoneâs lucky that your neighbour had noticed smoke,â the firefighter explained, âThe source of the fire was from all of the wires in your roomâŠâ
âIs there anything that wasnât burned?â Donghyuck had finally processed everything. He felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach. Everything was gone.
âYou can see so for yourself,â the man had handed Donghyuck some safety gear and a box, âIn these conditions, please be aware that there might not be anything left but it is still good to make sure.â
After rummaging through what looked like dirt, Donghyuck soon had come to the realization that the fireman was right. Not even his bed was in good condition. The fire had consumed nearly every single thing that belonged to him, aside from some clothes encased in his closet.
Before the firemen needed to leave, the last one out turned to Donghyuck, âDo you have any place to stay in for the meantime?â
He shrugged, âIâm not entirely sure, but Iâll figure it out⊠thank you.â
Nearly losing his entire ability to think straight, he found himself sitting on the rusting bench right outside the building. He only had his wallet, his phone, his charger, and the box of clothes that was safe from the flames.
He dialed Renjun first. He lived the closest and the hustle wouldnât be as bad as going to Jenoâs or Jaeminâs.
âHyuck? Whatâs up?â By the sound of it, Renjun was chewing on something crunchy, words muffled by the food.
âHey, my⊠home burnt downâŠâ Donghyuck wasnât quite sure how he should break the news. He was still numb from the realization that he was basically homeless right now.
Renjun choked on his snack, âYour apartment? Like itâs all gone?â He was as shocked as he was when he got the news, âIs everything fine?â
âYeah it is⊠except for the fact that I have nowhere to go while they fix it,â he sighed through the line, âT-thatâs why I called you⊠I was wondering if I could possibly stay with you?â Donghyuck kicked his foot against the deteriorating pavement, feeling a slight bit embarrassed. Renjun was silent at the other end, probably thinking up ways this could happen. As the silence grew longer, Donghyuck started to wonder whether or not it was a good or bad thing. Maybe he was already getting stuff ready, or maybe he was trying to think of an easy way to let him down.
âHyuck?â The tone was bad.
âYeah?â
âIâm not sure I can let you stay here⊠you know I live with Yangyang and Chenle so itâs a bit crowded?â Renjun explained, âYou already know Iâd let you if there was free spaceâŠIâm really sorry.â
âItâs okay, Jun. I still have one option left so itâs not like youâre my last chance,â trying to brighten the mood, he forced out a small chuckle before he decided that ending the call was the best for him and Renjun, âIâll see you, tomorrow?â
âI will! Good luck. I hope you find a place to stay.â
âThanks, Junnie.â And the call ended.
Donghyuck scrolled through his contacts and straight to the Jâs. He pressed on âJeno/Jaeminâ as it was the landline and listened to it ring once before Jaemin picked up, âDonghyuckie! Whatâs up?â
He went through the same process as Renjun, only wishing that their answer was at the opposite of Renjunâs.
âItâs not that we donât want you to stay with us⊠but itâs just that we donât have space and itâll be embarrassing if we let you stay with us⊠weâd feel bad for you.â
âYou guys are my last chance,â he huffed out, âWhere else can I go?â
âMaybe they have extra room on campus?â Jeno rang in, âI heard they have extra rooms in case a random student comes in.â
âIâll try that⊠thanks guys.â
âWeâre sorry!â
âItâs fine⊠bye.â
Donghyuck slumped in his seat, straightening his legs underneath him. He would rather not want to pay for an over expensive room at the university⊠but if that was his only choice, then so be it.
You hopped out of the bus, thanking the driver as you did. It caught Donghyuckâs attention almost immediately, head shooting at your direction. You were completely aware of Donghyuckâs glare and presence, firing back your own well planned glare. The hell was his problem? Quickening your pace, you yanked the door open and practically teleported inside and onto the elevator.
A small grin was soon plastered on Donghyuckâs face. An idea had popped into his head. But he wasnât quite sure if it was a good one.
-
A heavy knock at your door had startled you. You were halfway to sleep, a nap calling you helplessly as you stared blankly at the Netflix screen. Whoever stood on the other side of that door didnât know how to wait. It sounded like this person had a countless number of hands as the knocking didnât dare stop until you unlocked your door.
You swung the door open to find Donghyuck standing in front of you. The way he held his body didnât radiate the energy he usually held. It was actually quite depressing to see. It was like for once, Donghyuck wasnât the vain and rambunctious boy that lived above you. He had his hands deep in his hoodie pockets and he wore a natural pout on his lips.
âWhat are you doing here?â It was surprisingly natural how the tone in your voice had sounded irritated. You were just used to speaking to him in such a way.
âIâm not here to piss you off,â he mumbled seriously.
You were thrown off at his reply, âHuh?â
âCan I come in?â If you werenât looking at him as he spoke, you could probably hear his frown, âPlease?â The sincerity in his eyes really proved that he was desperate about something and you werenât quite sure what.
You wearily shuffled behind your door and let him through. Closing the door behind him, you turn around and see him rocking back and forth in place. It was weird seeing him in your home, âOkay⊠speak.â
âMy entire apartment was burned. Thereâs basically nothing left,â he explained, âThey said it was some type of electrical mishap because of my gaming stuff.â
If it was the right moment, youâd make fun of him for it. But you held yourself back as you sensed that the Donghyuck in front of you was not in the mood for pestering. How did you not know that the apartment directly above you had basically vanished from flames? âOh⊠Iâm sorry to hear that⊠and why are you telling me this?â
It took awhile for him to reply. He stared down at your feet, unable to string the right words together. It was a weird type of silence.
âIâm telling you this because I have a proposition.â
You sit down on your couch, âA proposition?â
âYou know, like a proposalâŠâ
âI know what a fucking proposition is, dumbass. What is it?â Donghyuck has never failed to provoke you.
âYou let me stay here until they fix my place⊠and once I move back, I wonât make a single peep after one oâclock,â a sheepish expression surfaced on his face. He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand.
âDonât you have friends?â you held back a laugh.
âI do, but none of them can take me in⊠youâre literally my only hope right now.â
âNo. It was unbearable living beneath you and now living with you? No thanks,â you stood up and approached your door. Sure you felt kind of bad for him, but there was no way you were going to let this clown live with you.
He stopped your hand from turning the knob before he fell to his knees. He begged, âPlease~ Please, Y/N! Iâll try not to keep you awake, I just need a place to sleep and eat andâŠâ His bottom lip jutted out like a little toddler who was dying to play games on your phone.
You push him lightly out your door and sighed, âLook Iâm really not looking for a roommate right now.â And it was true. There was a reason that you were still living alone after months of starting university.
âPlease?â He sounded desperate now.
âNo, Donghyuck,â you answered, âHow about beg one of your friends?â
âIâm going to sit out here until you let me in,â he threatened.
âDo I look like I care? Because I donât,â you say bluntly. You closed the door and went back to the nap you were ever so craving. If Donghyuck really was going to sit outside of your apartment, then let him. He was going to give up anyway.
The echoing sound of your empty stomach woke you up from your nap. The sunset being framed by your window indicated that it was inching closer to dinner time. A reminder had popped into your head that your kitchen held no groceries for dinner, meaning that you had to eat out and buy groceries. Which was perfectly fine with you.
Opening your apartment door, you feel a somewhat heavy object fall abruptly onto your feet. You shut your eyes tight, afraid that if you looked down youâd see something straight out of a horror film. It took a prolonged moment for you to actually build up the courage to open your eyes and look down.
Once you had reached the minimum amount of courage, you looked to your feet and found Donghyuck holding his head. He continued to curse under his breath, looking up at you, obviously irritated about what had just happened.
âDonghyuck, what the fuck?â You hit him with your purse, mostly because of how frightened you had been, âWhat the hell are you doing there?â
âI told you. Iâm sitting out here until you let me stay with you,â he stood up and dusted off his pants, âI fell asleep.â
You gave him a dead look, not having it with him. This was the most you had conversed with him in one day and you really had to admit that talking to someone like Donghyuck was rather tiresome. Your door locked behind you as you pushed past him, ignoring the way he stood up with the built up energy he had in his body.
âWhere are you going?â he followed you willingly.
âDinner. Groceries,â you mumbled. You were praying for the elevator to come faster.
âIâm coming with you,â he stated, standing at your side.
âNo youâre not.â
As if the film had cut to the next scene, you found yourself sitting across from Donghyuck at a nearby McDonaldâs. He was munching on his nth chicken nugget, cold drink in the other, as he blinked at whatever car drove past the building. The silence was awkward, but youâd rather it be awkward than hear his voice for at least the entirety of your stay at the restaurant. With his backpack sitting next to him, he looked like one of those kids youâd baby sit right after school.
Once you finished, you threw your garbage on the way out and started to walk to the grocery store right across the street. It wasnât a surprise to you when you hear the nearing footsteps of Donghyuck. He didnât say anything, he sort of just floated next to you.
Upon entering the store, you were actually relieved to see that Donghyuck had gone his own way. At first you thought about packing your cart with all that you needed and leaving him. But then you realized that there was seriously no use because he knew where you lived. At this realization, you decided that taking time was better on your energy level.
About ten minutes into the shopping trip, you were bent down in the ramen aisle, eyeing down which spice level you should get. Often, youâd get mild, but you found yourself needing more than what the package provided. The only thing holding you back was what if the ultra spicy was too spicy? Then itâd be a waste of ramen.
âOh there you are,â Donghyuck had slipped into the aisle with his own basket full of goods, âI thought you left me or something.â
You glare at him before giving up and throwing both flavours into your cart, âYou better be paying for your own stuff.â You start to roll it down to the front of the store and to self checkout.
âOf course I am,â he dropped his own basket to the checkout next to yours and started doing his own thing.
There was still a bit of hope in you that maybe, hopefully, one of Donghyuckâs friends would offer him a nice place to stay in instead of yours. But when you still felt the boyâs presence behind you as you left your apartment buildingâs elevator, you knew damn well that he really wasnât going anywhere.
You groaned and turned around to face him. You noticed that you had startled him by the way his eyes widened and how he jumped back a bit, âYouâre really not going to leave me alone, are you?â At this point, your fingers were grazing your doorâs handle.
You thought about it on the way up. If you did let Donghyuck stay with you, you could tell him what to do and what not to do. It would be amusing. If he ever refused, you could tell him that he would have to find another place to stay. You could use it to your advantage.
Shaking his head, Donghyuck straightened his back, âNope. Not at all.â His determination said it all. It was weaved with hints of desperation and you knew how easy it would be to persuade the boy into doing anything.
âOkay thenâŠâ you unlocked your door and gently pushed it open, âIâll let you stay with me.â Before he could rejoice, you stopped him, âBut on a few conditions.â
He nodded, âAnything.â
âKeep up your end of the bargain, the one you said earlier,â you started, âYou canât make any noise when I say so. Boundaries are important. No long showers. Remember that youâre a guest under my roof.â
âAs long as I have a place to stay, then Iâll follow your rules,â he stated seriously. You werenât sure if you could trust him or not. After all, it was Donghyuck. Not even 24 hours ago, his noise had woken you up from your sleep.
You motioned for him to enter first since you still needed to take your home key out. As he approached the interior end of your apartment, he beamed brightly at you. Donghyuck, who has lost control of himself due to the wave of relief he was feeling, brought himself to give you a short hug of gratitude. His arms had wrapped tightly over your shoulders. You froze at the contact.
âShit, sorry,â he muttered. He took a few steps back and smiled sheepishly at you, âW-where should I put my stuff?â
Still in shock from contact with Donghyuck, you couldnât answer or think straight. You waddled to your kitchen counter and dropped your bags after you had closed and locked the door, âThereâs a room down the⊠hall and to the right. Thatâs the extra room.â
âThanks.â He smiled again and you were genuinely taken aback by how this boy, who was usually obnoxious and annoying, was acting. You blinked back at him and watched as he disappeared the deeper he had gone down the hall.
His duality was scary. It was unpredictable. It was the reason why you didnât know what you were getting yourself into.
iii.
When Donghyuck said heâd follow your rules, you didnât have any hopes in him actually following them. You knew how Donghyuck was. Heâd lie to someone in order to get something heâd want in return. And this is one of those occasions.
Donghyuck gladly followed your âboundariesâ rule which at first seemed a bit rude as he didnât even greet you in the mornings or evenings. You were letting him stay with you and you figured that that was probably better than nothing. After a bit of thinking, avoiding convos with Donghyuck would probably be a lot better than bickering that would probably wear you out over the period of his stay.
The only time these said âavoidedâ convos would happen would be when Donghyuck couldnât find the appropriate time to make noise and he would not listen when you told him to shut up. It was like you were practically babysitting a toddler, maybe even six of them, and they all would not listen to you.
It wasnât often that you would physically go to the guest bedroom to tell him to shut up. Usually, youâd be the bigger person and try to mind your own business, but when you remembered that this was your home and not his, you decided to actually put a stop to it before you lost it.
You knocked twice on the door, hearing Donghyuckâs reply not even a moment after, âCome in!â He goes back to yelling at whoever he was playing with on the phone. When you had actually entered, you found him slumped against the headboard, headphones sitting ungracefully on his head.
âCan you⊠quiet down?â You put on a customer service-esque voice, âPlease.â
Donghyuck didnât let his eyes leave his screen, fingers going crazy on itâs touchscreen, âNope.â You scowled at him, brows furrowing at the audacity this boy had.
âItâs almost one in the morning,â you pointed out.
âDidnât know you were some kind of human clock,â he mumbled. The majority of his attention was still pinned on the screen, eyes darting towards you to see if you had gone and left the room.
You feel the expression on your face intensify. Walking up to the side of the bed, you grabbed his phone.
âWhat the hell?â He sat up and grabbed his phone back from you, âIâm not even that loud, quit being sensitive.â He quickly finished his game and shut his phone off, focusing on this situation with you.
âHow about I kick you out by tomorrow morning?â you say as if you were bargaining. You knew that this was one way to get Donghyuck to shut the fuck up. Judging by how desperate he was before, you knew he had no other choice but to listen to you.
At this mention, he shut his mouth and frowned, âThe fuck? Just because this once?â
âQuit being sensitive,â you mocked, âIf you wanna stay in this room until your apartment is finished, you really need to watch how loud youâre being.â Seeing how much Donghyuckâs mood changed, you smirked. It worked.
âFineâŠâ He retorted, âWhatever.â
You huffed and turned to leave, the smirk reappearing on your face.

Leaving the apartment to Donghyuck for a weekend wasnât something that you were quite in favour of. You, along with Yeji and Lia, had planned an entire weekend trip for the long weekend, and of course you were excited for it, but that was when Donghyuckâs apartment was still intact. Now that you knew we were leaving your beloved haven with Donghyuck, you were hesitant to actually go on said trip. But (no) thanks to Lia, she convinced you to come after hours of persuasion.
Upon returning, your heart dropped at the idea that Donghyuck mightâve burnt down your own apartment as well. But seeing that the door was still standing, you feel a slight wave of relief wash over.
âThank goodness,â you mumbled.
Slowly, you unlocked your door and nudged it open. That was when you knew you had spoken too soon. What once was your nice and cozy, neat home had turned into some kind of new ratâs hole. It wasnât too messy, but it just wasnât something you were used to nor expecting. The coffee was filled with used dishes, the carpet had bits of crumbs everywhere, wrappers scattered on your previous couch, and the kitchen was littered with groceries that werenât put back in its place. What made everything else worse was that you could hear Donghyuck yelling in the back, playing games instead of cleaning up his mess.
âSon of a bitch.â
You dropped your bags and made a beeline to the guest room, opening it without knocking, âThe fucking audacity you have, Lee Donghyuck.â
âThereâs something called knocking,â he scoffed.
âClean my apartment,â you ordered, âI left this place clean.â You were fuming. This was the main reason why you didnât want to leave, âIâm letting you stay here, as a guest, and you choose to treat it like itâs your own house. At least clean up after yourself.â
âI was, I just thought you were coming back tomorrow, not today,â he shrugged. Donghyuck redirected his focus to his phone, corner of his mouth angling up.
âLee Donghyuck I swear if youâre starting another game, Iâm kicking you out,â you warned. It was the same reason as before, only this time you were dead serious. This time you werenât treating it as some sort of way to control him.
âIf thatâs what you want,â he stands up and bows, âMadame.â Donghyuck walks around you, hands in his pockets as he pokes the inside of his cheek with his tongue. He knows heâs pissing you off and heâs enjoying it. What the hell is wrong with him?
You leave his room and grab your bags before dragging yourself into your room. Two strikes⊠three and heâs out.

You believed that home cooked meals were a lot more healthier than most of the affordable food you could get when you eat out. Which is why you opted to cook your own meals for half or possibly more than half of the week. Though they were often just simple recipes either your mom had taught you or ones youâve seen on tv or youtube, you still took a lot of pride in those meals.
Trekking into the kitchen, you scrolled through the many possible recipes you could complete on your phone, mentally noting the ingredients. You pulled open the fridge, rummaging through its contents trying to find the specific items, which you clearly remembered you bought not even a week ago. Muttering underneath your breath, your mind wanders over to the other living being in your home. There was no way that those groceries could have magically disappeared, not in this universe at least.
Closing the fridge, you make your way to the pantry, still puzzled on the missing groceries, âI swear I bought a whole pack just last weekend.â But after scavenging the pantry, none of the ingredients you needed were sitting there waiting to be used.
âLee Donghyuck!â you called.
Said boy appeared in the kitchen moments later, posture reflecting the fact that he did not want to be there, âWhat do you want now?â It was like you were living with a teenager.
âDid you eat all the food I bought?â usually you wouldnât just accuse one of something, but knowing you hadnât touched those groceries, Donghyuck was the only possible culprit for the missing food.
âYes, and?â
âYou do know those groceries were for our meals, right?â You walked past him and crouched down to the snack cabinet, opening it, âThis is literally empty! Those were all my snacks! Who said you could eat whatever was in there?â
âI was hungry? Iâm a guest, I should be able to do so.â
You wonder why Donghyuck would even be acting like he was if he knew that a place to stay was at stake, âYouâre a guest, but not like thatâŠâ Again you change locations, âWhere the hell are your manners? You sure as hell know that I hesitated letting you live with me and you choose to test me almost every other day! A one year old toddler knows better than you! Dumb shit, why did I even agree to you staying here?â
âOne year olds canât even complete an entire sentence,â he jokingly argued, âIsnât that a bit too far?â
âMe? Too far? Youâre taking it too far! You have no idea when to stop being immature!â The volume in your voice was increasing, âYouâre twenty fucking years old, Donghyuck. You should be able to know when itâs good and when itâs bad to mess around.â
Simultaneously, he stands up and gives you an expression of hurt and anger, all in one. You could tell that youâve actually, for once, offended him just by the look in his eyes. He muttered something underneath his breath before he started walking towards your door. Swiftly, he unlocked it, slipping out and shutting it without another peep.
Stunned, you blinked at the door, confused as to what had just happened. The silence that replaced the prior argument seemed to be louder than the argument itself⊠and you didnât like that.
You leaned against the kitchen counter and sighed. Where would he go? He didnât have another place to stay and he left basically all his stuff in his room. Where would he go?
You dismissed the feelings of worry and guilt, shaking it all off before you locked the door and made your way to your room. You lost your appetite. Youâll just eat later.
In between your songs, the banging at your door caused your heart rate to escalate. You rolled over in your bed, almost falling off and straight onto your face, and ran to the door, not even thinking of looking through the peephole. Right as you threw the door open, Donghyuck pushed past you and straight to the kitchen.
âDonghyuck?â It was then you noticed he was holding bags of groceries, both of his hands white from the weight. He put them down softly beside the kitchen counter, stretching his back from relief.
âFuck the grocery store and not letting me take the cart home,â he rested his upper body on the counter and took a quick breather, as if he had ran a 12k marathon.
âWhat is all this?â It was obviously clear to you what it was; bags filled with groceries, most of which were the ones he used up. The question was more specifically directed towards him and his sudden act of kindness.
âGroceries,â he replied. Even when exhausted, Donghyuckâs wit outshone.
âWell no shitâŠâ you say, âI mean why.â
âI⊠thought about what you said,â he exhaled deeply. Donghyuck was irritated at how he was letting you win, âAnd youâre right. Iâve been acting like a dumbass. Especially since youâre letting me stay here.â To avoid the awkward eye contact, he decided to start sorting out the groceries, âIâm⊠really sorry. It didnât occur to me how I was acting. From now on, Iâll actually act my age to make it up to you. Iâll act like a proper guest.â
You feel a small smile creep up onto your lips, âDonghyuck?â He hummed. âI forgive you.â You paused for a moment, âAnd Iâm sorry for earlier⊠my emotions took control of me. I couldnât hold myself back.â
He chuckles lightly, turning to you, âItâs okay, itâs understandableâŠâ He hears his own stomach growl. âY/N?â
âYeah?â
âCan you make dinner now? Iâm starving.â
iv.
You glared at Donghyuck at the corner of your eyes as it sounded like he was purposely turning up the volume of his game. The background music, character voices, weapons slashing, and shooting, they all started to drown out the show you decided to put on the tv. You decided not to point it out at first because of a goal you had made to not seem like such a buzzkill all the time.
âThis is the best weapon in the game,â he grinned proudly, âItâs my baby. My pride and joy.â The tv screen in front of you was suddenly blocked by Donghyuckâs phone screen. At the same time, the couch had dipped down slightly as he shifted over to you. He held the device there for longer than you cared, hand shaking as seconds passed. It almost made you laugh.
âMmhmm,â you hum monotony, trying your best to keep your eyes on the screen, âThatâs really cool.â
Donghyuck sat back in his spot, âYou know Iâm not stupid enough to not hear the sarcasm in your voice.â He tapped a few buttons to join the queue of the game.
âI know⊠I just donât care,â you finally turned to face him, âWhy donât you just play that in your room? Iâm trying to watch and all I hear are shooting sounds.â And at that you turned the volume up by two.
âItâs⊠quiet in my room,â he says quietly, âIâll just turn my volume down.â Staying with you had caused Donghyuck to realize how lonely it actually was just staying in a single room the entire night with his eyes not leaving the screen. He figured that maybe, when you were planted on the couch, heâd hang around you for a nice change.
Keeping your gaze forward. Though it was hopefully not obvious on the outside, you were thrown off by  Donghyuckâs compliance. Turning ever-so-slightly, you peered at the boy. His head was bowed in order to look at his phone screen but, even so, you could see the tip of his tongue peek out between his lips. He looked so focused that you almost laughed out loud. Never did you think that a boy as garish as Hyuck would ever reach a state like that. He looked⊠cute.
You forced your eyes back to the television and knocked the thought out of your head like with a mental baseball bat. Thereâs no way you just thought that Donghyuck was cute. No way.
-
It hadnât occurred to Donghyuck that you werenât awake to leave in time for the bus until he already turned the front doorâs knob halfway and his eyes had fallen on the only pair of shoes you would wear. He let go of the doorknob and kicked his own sneakers off of his feet, letting out a low groan only for him to hear. He knows that you probably worked on school work until late, which he found stupid since you could not, for the life of you, wake up later on to go to school.
Donghyuck knocked twice and waited for a reply, letting himself in when he hadnât heard one. He snuck his head through the gap he made and set his eyes on your bed. He snorted at the sight of your passed out figure, leg sticking out from underneath the blanket and hanging off of your bed. Your mouth was wide open, freely giving flies a good place to hang out. Your textbooks and notes were scattered at the foot of your bed, your other foot leaving creases in them.
âY/N, wake up youâre late,â he shook your shoulder, bending down a tad bit closer, âWake up!â
Groaning, you shifted and grabbed his hand from your shoulder to push it away, âDonghyuck, can you please shut the fuck up?â You were unable to open your eyelids and your throat was still dry. Donghyuck continued to force his hand to your shoulder to shake you again, but you countered it with your own elbow strength.
âHey the bus comes in a few minutes and youâre barely awake,â Donghyuck noted, âHey wake up.â
For some reason, you hadnât processed what he was saying. You genuinely believed he was only in there to irritate you at such an early hour. Refusing to retract his elbow, he applied a bit more pressure down onto you.
âStop it!â you blindly swung an arm at his inner elbow which caused it to bend at contact. Donghyuck fell forward and onto you, all of it happening so fast that he couldnât save himself. His face was only inches from yours, though you hadnât noticed until your eyes had shot open from the sudden realization of the collision. The both of you laid there for a brief moment, staring at each other with wide eyes. It was all purely out of shock, like deer in headlights.
When you had processed it all, you rolled over, âGet out of my room!â It was then that you were suddenly aware of the situation. Classes started in less than an hour, the bus leaves in two minutes, and you were still not dressed. Curse the psychology homework you left until last minute.
Donghyuck pushes himself up, âIâm only here to help you!â He argued, âYou know what? Why did I even try? I shouldâve just left you here and let you miss your classes.â And at that, Donghyuck turned and exited your room, leaving your door open.
He jogged out of the apartment, slipping his nikes on as if they were crocs, creasing them carelessly. If you were the reason why he could be late, he wouldnât know how heâd react. He just knew that he wouldnât want that.
Donghyuck was just in time for the bus, greeting the driver quickly before finding a place to sit on the bus. He placed himself near the back at a window seat, leaning his head against the glass after he finally took the time to tuck his heels properly into his shoes. He let out a breath he didnât know he was holding in. His heart was beating faster than normal, adrenaline running through his body, only he wasnât sure if it was from the thought of being late to class or because of what just happened between him and you.

You always set aside Friday nights for self care and movie nights. Youâd put on a cheap drugstore face mask, dump a whole bag of your favourite chips into a bowl, pour yourself a cold drink, and pick out whatever movie that looked appealing. It was rather an ordinary routine, but you liked to think of it as something special.
Resting against the couch, you decided to pull up To All the Boys Iâve Loved Before, hoping to watch the first and second movie even though you already watched both when they were initially released.
âHey Y/N, have youâ oh hey, itâs that Noah dude thatâs in every Netflix movie,â Donghyuck has emerged from his room, the first time since you both arrived from school. He leaned over the back of the couch and took in whatever scene was playing on the screen, âWhat are you watching?â
You turn around, face covered in an unnatural shade of purple, making Donghyuck jump a bit, âTo all the boys Iâve loved before.â
âThat sounds really dumb,â he snorted, but nonetheless he sits down on the cushion next to you.
You questioned his actions, glaring at him, âIf you think itâs stupid, why does it look like youâre here to watch it.â
âI have nothing better to do. None of my friends are online,â he shrugged. Reaching over, he grabs a can of pop from the coffee table, snapping it open before taking a purposefully loud sip, âSo why not?â
âIâll only let you watch if you shut up,â you turn the volume up by one, âOkay?â He nods understandingly as he mirrors your resting figure on the couch. After what seemed like five minutes, he stretches his arm out to grab a handful of chips before throwing them all into his mouth at once.
âSo⊠heâs only pretending to date her to make the blonde girl jealous?â It was astonishing to you how you actually understood everything he said through his mouth full of chips. He didnât even try speaking loudly either.
âBasically,â you hummed in response.
âDoes it work though?â He questioned after swallowing.
âShhh, Donghyuck, just watch,â you flick his knee, directing an unamused look at his direction, âYouâll see.â
For a good portion of the movie, Donghyuck chose to keep comments to himself. Every time he would want to say something, heâd hold himself back, silently reacting to the rather dramatic parts of the film. It was admittedly a cute movie. He hadnât seen anything like it in a while.
âWait! Itâs just a misunderstanding!â Donghyuck gasped. His legs were crossed underneath him, eyes planted semi-permanently on the screen, âShe took that scrunched from him! He didnât give it to her! Just when everything seemed fine.â You snickered at how into the movie he was. You didnât react like he was when you first watched the movie.
âItâs so obvious that Gen did it,â He muttered, âWho the hell else would do it? Sheâs jealous as hell. Can she stop please?â From the corner of your eye, you could see that Donghyuck was close to throwing one of your throw pillows.
âI mean, at least Peterâs plan worked,â you responded quietly, sinking back into the couch, âItâs just that now it doesnât really matter if it worked or not.â
âSheâs acting like theyâre still a thing,â Donghyuck scoffed, âTheyâre not.â He was one hundred percent for Lara Jean and Peter and it was actually pretty amusing in a cute way. But you werenât saying that out loud, youâll gladly keep it to yourself.
The movie slowly came to the end, wrapping up like it did in the books. âWhy does she walk like that though,â he laughed, âWho walks like that normally?â He lays back against the couch and grins, âThat was actually a good filmâŠâ
He was so immersed in the film that he hadnât noticed that you had fallen asleep by the end, head falling in a strange way against the armrest of the couch. The way your chest had risen and fallen in such a calm and constant rhythm indicated to Donghyuck that you were having a good slumber. He didnât want to wake you up. Not when you seemed so peaceful.
His eyes shifted to the thin blanket you already brought with you, clutched in your hand, then back to your face. He couldnât help but trace your features with his eyes. There was no other time that he would be able to do this. When you were awake, you were too aware about everything he did, or what went on around you, but in this state, you were the complete opposite. He smiled softly at your serene figure, quickly shaking his head at the sudden change in image you had created in his head for that brief moment. As if it was something heâd do often, he easily laid your blanket over you, making sure it covered you chest down. I just need sleep, he thought, âGoodnight, Y/N.â

Mutualistic (symbiotic) relationships in nature worked as so: both organisms in the relationship would both completely benefit from the other. It was funny to think that such relationships were always so dynamic. Who would have thought that an animal as large as a crocodile would benefit from a bird as tiny as the plover. It was interesting how it worked like that.
As weeks had passed with Donghyuck still living in your guest room, the both of you had noticed that having each other as temporary roommates actually wasnât that bad. A parasitic relationship had slowly evolved into a mutual one and you wondered if something like this could actually happen out in nature.
You noted this shift when Donghyuck had arrived home from a study group with bags filled with groceries. Sure it wasnât the first time heâd taken the action to do so, knowing how much you struggled with carrying bags home, but this time was different.
It was nothing drastic or overly significant, but it was something that caught your eye immediately and you couldnât help feel your chest warm up a bit. Donghyuck had bought all of your favourite snacks and candies. Even the ones you couldnât usually find in the grocery store youâd usually shop at. They were all bunched into one separate bag, indicating that this was in no case a coincidence. And at that thought you smiled and looked up at him, only he didnât catch you looking. He was far too busy sorting the rest of the groceries into their respective spots.
âThanks Donghyuck,â you say, quietly. Though it sounded like you were thanking him for doing another round of grocery shopping, this time, it was directed more towards his little deed.
âItâs no problem,â he offered a tight lipped smile before scrunching the bags into messy balls, stuffing them into a small bin with others. He turned back to the counter, realizing that he hadnât unpacked the bag filled with your favourites, âYou can do those right?â It wasnât like he couldnât do them himself. It was just that those were all meant for you.
You nodded, âDid you do this on purpose?â You started to take the snacks out of the bag, âThese are my favourites.â
Donghyuckâs eyes widened out of panic of being exposed but you werenât aware of his mood change as he quickly fixed his composure, âNo? I mean⊠they just looked good so I got them.â
He was lying and you knew, âMmhmm⊠that grocery store I shop at doesnât even sell these.â You held up a flavourful bag of gummy bears.
âI passed by a corner store and got them.â Lying again. But this time you just hummed.
âWhatever you say, Hyuck.â The nickname had slipped out of your mouth so naturally that you didnât catch yourself saying it. Donghyuck was obviously thrown off by the name, feeling his heart skip a beat for the second time in five minutes, âThank you.â
He scoffed, trying to tap back into his usual self, âFor buying food for me? Ah, youâre welcome.â Before you could say anything else, he rushed to his room, making up some lame excuse just to get out of the conversation.
It was funny because that wasnât the last time he bought your favourites.
Donghyuck noticed this shift himself when he came home one day with his clothes neatly folded on his bed. The last time heâs seen his clothes, they were all piled at the corner of the room, dirty with sweat or generally smelling like itâs been soaking up the sun.
He dropped his bag by the roomâs door, curiosity taking hold of him as he walked up to the folded clothes. They were clean. He smiled, sorting them out so they were organized the way he wanted them to be.
He could recall how he had told you he had no time to do laundry. From school and extra shifts at work, he was growing frustrated with everything thatâs been piling up, finding no time to take care of himself at home. He had been re-wearing the clothes that seemed clean enough just to get through his day.
Leaving his room with a bit of pep in his step, he enters the kitchen where you had been working on some assignment. You didnât look up, even with the hint of his presence, too indulged in your work.
âY/N,â He strayed towards the dishwasher, grabbing a cup as if he was only there to grab water. Glancing at you from the corner of his eyes, waiting for your reply.
âWhat, Donghyuck?â you muttered. You werenât trying to come off as rude but you didnât want to lose the focus you had built up in the last 30 minutes. You typed away, ears perked up in order to hear the nonsense that could be coming out his mouth any second now.
âThanks for doing my laundry,â he says sincerely. He chugged down the water that he poured into his glass and quickly washed the cup, âIt doesnât seem like a lot but it truly is.â
You finally look up at him, fingers pausing abruptly. Your eyebrows were raised, shocked at the tone in Donghyuckâs voice, âItâs no problem. I know that youâve been busy. And you still buy groceries even when youâre running low on time.â And it was true. In a way it was your only way of giving back aside from letting him stay at your place.
Donghyuck couldnât do anything but smile. He bowed his head slightly to reply wordlessly to you before retreating back slowly to his room.
-
Your thumb switched between the right arrow button and the down arrow button, scrolling through the selection of movies shown on the screen. The past half an hour, you had been trying to settle with a film that suited your mood, but since the movies seem quite uninteresting, time was being wasted.
Mentally, you kept a list of movies that stood out more than others, only not finally deciding because you opted to choose more options. The third Harry Potter film was among those, and honestly, looking at the rest of the movies, you really were leaning towards rewatching it instead of taking a risk and watching a one star film.
Double checking if you had everything you needed, you pressed a button to start it, the warner bros logo appearing after a dark screen. There was a hint of background music playing and a house appears after the logo. Then, you hear a door open and close, followed by light footsteps. You sit unbothered, already knowing what was about to happen.
âOh, a movie?â Donghyuckâs voice bounced around the room and over the movieâs soundtrack, âI didnât know you were watching a movie.â His footsteps grew softer indicating that he was on his way to the kitchen just a few feet from the couch. You stifle a laugh and shake your head slightly. Of course. It wasnât the first time Donghyuck had coincidentally walked in right when you started a movie. It happened last week and the night ended up with him sleeping with the lights on. You knew that he started to like these unspoken movie nights. And you did too.
You keep quiet as you preferred to listen to the film than reply to the curious boy, already knowing he was getting ready to take his usual seat next to you.
âIs this Harry Potter?â And as you predicted, the right side of the couch dips down slightly under Donghyuckâs weight. He sets down his own cup of pop and a movie snack in front of him.
âYeah, the third one,â you blinked at the screen, âItâs probably my favourite one.â
âIâve only seen the first one,â he states, âSo you have to catch me up a bit.â
You sighed, âItâs okay, itâs easy to understand.â
Donghyuck takes a slight glance in your direction. You were slumped, cross legged, underneath your blanket, bag of chips sitting on your lap and a can of pop in your left hand. You looked cuddly. You didnât know it. And Donghyuck didnât know this until he had the sudden urge to scoot over to your side in order to feel completely comfortable.
Subtly, Donghyuck shifts his weight from one side to the other, crossing his legs. His knee sat rather closely to yours. A part of him did it on purpose, leaving the rest stunned at the close interaction. You didnât move away, mostly because your knee was covered with your blanket. You couldnât tell the difference between the blanket and Donghyuckâs knee.
Again he took a peek at you unconsciously, brain and muscle control seemingly working separately. He admitted it to himself he liked these movie nights. Even if you both unspokenly only had three. It was different from how heâd usually spend nights alone. It was a good different.
His phone buzzed, Jenoâs name popping up on the screen: Sick again? Feel better :)
Quickly unlocking his phone, he had texted back a âthanks Jenoâ before setting it back down in the crack of the couch. He had declined an invite from Jeno to go see a movie in the theatres in an hour, but the idea of spending the night just on the couch seemed much more appealing than having to go out and get ready to do the same thing.
One more time, in the corner of his eye he took in your figure. Whether he stayed home because he was too lazy to get ready or because he secretly wanted to spend time with you⊠weâll never know.
vi.
âThank you so much for the update.â
You had walked in after an energy draining shift to Donghyuck getting off the phone. The way he smiled caused him to embody happiness, radiating sunshine as he beamed at you.
âYou look fucking stupid,â you say to break the silence creeping up on both of you. In reality he didnât look stupid, he looked like a cute little kid being told news he was going on a fun family trip.
âMy apartmentâs done in a week!â He did a small dance to express what he was feeling, his smile not faltering one bit.
Your heart dropped a bit, the feeling of disappointment overtaking it. You brushed it aside, âThatâs great to hear! Now I can kick you out for good.â You let out a small laugh to indicate it was a harmless joke before you make your way to your room, this conversation being something you want to avoid.
You had grown used to Donghyuck. His noise, his presence on the Friday movie nights, the never-empty fridge and pantry due to his constant visits to the grocery store. It was weird thinking that thatâd be all gone by next week. You would have never thought youâd want him to stayâŠ?
The hell? I want him to stay?
You flicked your own forehead before shaking it as if water had gone into your ear. You shake it to get rid of those thoughts you were ever so scared of confronting.
You sat down on your bed and sighed. Funny how over a month ago you strongly yearned for Donghyuck to leave. You wanted nothing to do with him, threatening to kick him out everytime he ever so slightly crossed the line. But now, you wouldnât think twice seeing the boy passed out on the couch. You wouldnât mind him taking up time in the washroom or yelling at ungodly hours at night. It was clear that he had grown on you. And instead of being thrilled that youâd get your apartment back to yourself, you were secretly hoping that time would move a bit slower just so Donghyuck wouldnât move back any sooner.
Donghyuck made his way back to the guest room, a bittersweet feeling lingering in his chest. The news he had just gotten was great. It was information he had been waiting for for the past few weeks. But he had such a good time staying with you⊠he wondered if your guysâ relationship would be the same as it is now when he does move back. Itâs not like he was leaving the city. He was literally only moving a floor up. If you both stood directly in the same spot in your apartments, you would be closer to each other than you would be staying in the same apartment and different rooms.
Would it be weird to ask you if you would still be friends? Maybe a little bit. But if Donghyuck had to do it, to ensure the growing worry in himself, then heâd do it.
-
Symbiotic relationships were easy to understand. It was grade seven level science after all. But something that wasnât as simple to understand was the fact that you were actually going to miss Lee Donghyuck once he moved back to his apartment.
There was still that little voice inside of you that was telling you to quit it. That he was moving back tomorrow and after he does move, you probably wonât even have the same relationship as now. It was better to cut those arising feelings short before they actually endure.
Donghyuck has been spending a bit less time in your apartment and in his, making sure everything was good to go once he returned to his man hole. You could hear his voice through the ceiling. It honestly sucked because you wanted to spend the last week just spending time with him.
âHowâs everything going?â You questioned as he appeared through the front door. You were on your way to your room, notebook and laptop sitting snugly in your arms. The time was drawing close to eleven and you could feel the residence of the apartment building all going to sleep. You figured it was time for you to go to bed too.
âAlmost set,â he replied quietly, âI can finish them tomorrow.â A silence hung in the air as you tapped your fingertips against the edge of your laptop.
âThatâs good.â Though it wasnât obvious to Donghyuck, you had tried to force the content tone blanketing over the mixed emotions, âWell goodnight⊠will I still you tomorrow?â
You remembered Donghyuck saying he was moving back early morning, but knowing him and his habits, it would probably be postponed till midday.
âMaybe,â he laughed softly, âMaybe not.â
You let a laugh similar to his before backing into your room and shutting the door. Sighing heavily, you dragged yourself to your desk and set your things down. Maybe you should wake up early just to say goodbye.
Donghyuck smiles at your door, before calling it a night himself. Tomorrow he was moving back and tomorrow he wanted to tell you something. Maybe.
-
Surprisingly, Donghyuck had woken up before his alarm which was set to go off at nine in the morning. He sighs and blinks at his door a couple of times before getting up and making the bed, wanting it to look presentable for when you come in to clean it.
After he had followed his usual routine, changing into day clothes, brushing his teeth, washing his face, and fixing his hair, he set his backpack down beside the door beside his shoes. He stood there for a moment, resting his hands on his hips and huffed. Within his chest he could feel that same bittersweet feeling he felt about a week ago when he was told his apartment was finished.
Unconsciously, he turned back towards the hallway and stood in front of your room. Is Y/N sleeping? He questioned himself. Probably, he countered. Though his head was telling him to not bother you, his body had decided that it was a great idea to knock, not once but twice.
âCome in.â Unexpectedly, you had replied, voice sounding like you had been awake for a while. And the truth was, you had been awake since eight, unable to go out and face Donghyuck.
âCan I talk to you?â Donghyuckâs head was barely pushed through the crack he had made, door hiding anything below his eyes.
You were partly laying down in your bed, phone in hand. Sitting up, you nodded, âYeah of course, whatâs up?â You watched Donghyuck swing the door so that his entire body was visible. He had a sheepish smile on his face, eyes unable to sit on you as he glanced around your room.
âI just wanted to say thank you for letting me stay here,â he says seriously, finally bringing himself to look at you, âI really do owe you shit⊠I owe you so much. So if you need me, then Iâll do anything.â
You couldnât help but feel the inside of your chest warm up to your temporary roommate. A smile crept up onto your face and you nodded, âI got to be honest, you already know this, but I really didnât want you staying with me⊠but I guess it wasnât that bad at the end. No problem.â
He bows his head gently and turns to leave, only stopping to turn around again, âOh by the way, I donât think youâll hear me causing a ruckus for a bit because I still need to save up for new equipment.â
You laughed and joked, âSounds good to me.â
âBye Y/N.â Donghyuck licks his eyes with yours for a prolonged moment, sparkling in yours. Your stomach bursts with butterflies, feeling yourself squeal internally at this type of contact.
âBye Hyuck.â And at that he leaves.
You were engulfed with a heavy feeling that you werenât usually familiar with when it came to Donghyuck. Often youâd know if it were hate or annoyance or amusement. But this was different. The flame in your chest was growing stronger and this time you really couldnât ignore it. You cringe at the butterflies in your stomach that were alive than never before.
Once you heard the door to your apartment close, that was when you finally gave in to that feeling that started to grow slowly and subtly without your knowledge.
You liked Donghyuck⊠you really liked Donghyuck and there obviously was no running from it now.
Donghyuck enters his apartment and is immediately greeted with silence. Though heâs only stayed at your apartment for about a month, he without a doubt had grown to get used to your presence greeting him at the door. It was just weird now. He shouldâve asked you to help him sort his new furniture. Then he could be around you longer for a good reason and that could give him a chance to actually ask you if you guys could still be friends.
He loved your presence. He loved the movie nights you both had and the short yet amusing banters. You two actually complimented each other well despite the fact that at first you two seemed to be polar opposites⊠but that was it, you guys were opposites but that was why you both went well together. He loved the friendship that you guys had managed to muster up within a month.
Involuntarily, Donghyuck shakes his head at the thought of being just friends. A friendship was far different from what he wanted. And at that conclusion, he made up his mind. He liked you, maybe closer to love than like. He wanted more, and it took him this long to finally admit it.
At that second, someone knocked on his door twice, his head snapping towards that direction. He feels the beat of his heart quicken in pace as he approaches it slowly. Answering it, he remembers when you were there about aa month ago just to tell him off. Donghyuck laughs, âY/N? Missed me already?â
You rolled your eyes playfully, âShut up Hyuck⊠you know how you owe me?â He nods, unable to predict  what was coming up next.
âWell how about you take me out to dinnerâŠâ You cringed at how you worded that. It sounded like you were demanding it. This mistake caused you to back up a bit sheepishly.
Donghyuck smiles at your cute behaviour, stepping forward to keep the distance the same, âLike a date?â Â It was your turn to nod.

âi already emailed you this monthâs finance report and talked to the men from kim corp. - i think theyâll end up being major investors. my balance forecasts are done, and,â you pause in your report, your gaze meeting donghyuckâs across his desk before you continue speaking, one corner of your lip quirking up slightly. âand you have a hickey thatâs a little too high for your collar to cover.â
âi - what?â the ceo of lee technologies, ltd. hisses out the last word, his brow furrowing as he processes what youâve just said. you put a finger up, silently telling him to give you a moment, before you pull your purse off of the floor and onto your lap. it takes you less than a minute of rummaging to find what youâre looking for: a compact mirror. donghyuck all but snatched it out of your hand, and you see him visibly redden once he realizes that you arenât pulling his leg.
âshit, (name), i have meetings all day today,â he groans, slumping backwards into his far-too-expensive office chair. donghyuck shuts your mirror and tosses it haphazardly onto your desk before running both his hands down his face in incredulity and embarrassment. his neck is bared as he does this, allowing you to survey the mark further: itâs a deep red and clear as day, likely having been brought into existence the night before. you wonder briefly who itâs from - the pretty secretary who always bats his eyes at the ceo, the diligent but meek girl who canât keep her eyes off of donghyuck and works in hr on floor 14, the red-lipped and cat-eyed ceo of the company that operates out of the top floors of the highrise next to you? you doubt youâll ever know. as your heart twinges slightly, you realize that you donât want to know.Â
donghyuck groans again, although it dissolves into a petulant whine this time. a chuckle falls from your lips without you wanting to let one out, and your boss glares at you because of this.
âdonât look at me like that,â you scoff, turning your attention back to your bag for a moment. hyuck watches as you triumphantly pull a band-aid from one of the smaller pockets. âhere! itâs small enough to be covered by this.â
donghyuck narrows his eyes.
âis it professional for a companyâs ceo to walk around with a highlighter yellow tweety bird band-aid on his neck?â he asks, quirking one eyebrow as he does. still, he leans forward, placing his forearms on his desk and clasping his hands together as he does.
âis it professional for a companyâs ceo to walk around with evidence that heâs getting laid on his neck?â you throw back, and donghyuck stares at you for a moment before sighing, slumping his shoulders, and reaching his hand out. you drop the band-aid into your outstretched palm.
âitâll be fine, hyuck,â you tell your boss and longtime friend as he picks your compact up again, using the mirror to place the band-aid properly. âit might even humanize you a little bit.â
âhumanize me?â donghyuck asks, though the small lilt to his voice tells you that heâs just fishing for compliments. he knows what you mean. still, you have time today, so you humor him.
âyour reputation is all âyoung godâ, âuntouchable billionaireâ, âgenius entrepreneurâ, ânational playboyâ,â you point out, watching as donghyuckâs smirk grows, making him look a little bit like an overexcited frat boy. his expression directly contrasts his crisp gray tom ford suit and franck muller watch. âtweety bird might make you more... approachable.â
the young ceo thinks about your words for a moment before flipping his wrist towards himself to read the time. itâs 10:27 - he needs to get down to the main conference room. you stand as donghyuck does, letting him walk past you before you follow. the band-aid is even brighter underneath lights, you note, and you canât help but smile to yourself at this. donghyuck places his hand on the door handle, though, right before he opens it, he turns back to you.
âyou forgot sex icon.â
âwhat?â your eyes widen for a moment before you force your brows down, scowling at donghyuckâs statement.
âwhen you were naming off things that make me larger-than-life, you forgot to say sex icon.â he grins, his tone as matter-of-fact as its ever been.
âwho says?â you throw back, determined not to let your friendâs ego inflate so easily. he grins before leaning towards you, closer and closer until his mouth is right against your ear. you do your best not to let your breath hitch at the proximity.
âcosmopolitan. they interviewed me for the cover last month, remember? came in the mail today. iâll give you a signed copy of you want. courtesy of your favorite sex icon.â he tells you, and you swear his lips brush your earlobe before he pulls back, mirth dancing in his eyes. before you can say anything, donghyuck pulls his office door open, stepping aside as he does.
âafter you.â
â â â
the lee donghyuck that exists within his private office and the lee donghyuck that exists outside of it are two entirely different people. his posture is still easy, still open, still exceedingly confident, but the moment he steps out of his office his back straightens up, one hand going to adjust his tie and the other slipping into one of his dress pantsâ pockets. he goes from hyuck to haechan, meaning fullsun, the name given to him by the media at some gala or the other a couple years ago. hyuck is your friend from college, a brilliant programmer and free entertainment for those close to him. haechan is a charismatic but cold leader, his eyes calculating as he surveys the empire heâs only just begun building.
he walks out after you, but immediately commands everyoneâs gaze. donghyuckâs office is in the corner of the 18th floor - the highest floor of the skyscraper. all of the offices on this floor belong to executives - hell, your office is right next to his, your one wall with floor-to-ceiling windows adorned entirely with a row of potted plants both small and huge - but thereâs always plenty of other people milling around on the floor: possible investors, lost interns, secretaries, and employees with questions. today is no exception: several pairs of eyes are directed to the ceo as you stroll out, him in tow.Â
nobody says anything about the obvious band-aid on haechanâs neck.Â
âiâll see you after work,â donghyuck mutters discreetly into your ear, and you nod as imperceptibly as possible before giving your friend a parting smile.Â
as you head back to your office, haechanâs secretary joins him in step, tablet in hand, to read him off his schedule. as you close your door behind you, ready to bask in the sunlight thatâs filtering in, you canât help but scrutinize the secretaryâs slightly rosier-than-usual cheeks, nor the way haechan had straightened his shoulders while speaking to the other man.Â
if you were one for betting, youâd put down money on the fact that youâve probably just found the culprit responsible for donghyuckâs bright yellow band-aid. you shake your head sadly as you set your things down on your desk.Â
the poor boyâs going to get his heartbroken soon.Â
after all, if thereâs one thing donghyuck and haechan have in common, itâs this: commitment is not in the cards. you know this better than anyone.Â
â â â
âhyuck, i-â
âshut the fuck up.â donghyuck hisses into your ear, tugging harshly at the front of your shirt as he backs you into the closed door of his office. the material rips away easily, buttons skittering onto his floor as he shoves his warm mouth against yours. your hands go up to snake around his shoulders immediately, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck as he draws whimpers from your lips. once you part for air, you watch as he studies you for a moment. his tongue darts out, wetting his lower lip, and his eyes are beautifully hooded.Â
youâre already gasping for air. youâre already drowning in him.Â
âthis blouse was from saks, you asshole,â you manage to get out, though you sound more like a petulant child than the indignant business executive you are. he chuckles almost mockingly, simply raising an eyebrow at this before he starts shrugging his suitjacket off, placing it across the back of the chair in front of his desk.Â
âitâs your fault for wearing a $300 shirt to work,â he throws at you, no bite in his voice. you canât help but roll your eyes as you push yourself off the door, making to follow him as he settles down into his office chair.Â
âyouâre one to talk - your suit is, what, $4,000 at least? donât get me started on the fact that youâre wearing a 5-digit watch.â you make your way so youâre standing directly in front of him, shirt torn open to expose your bra and part of your stomach and the top of your skirt hugging your waistline perfectly. donghyuck sticks his tongue into his cheek before leaning forward and tugging you onto his lap with ease, smirking as your skirt flies up momentarily.Â
his hands cup your ass, fingertips pressing into your skin as he forces them up past your safety shorts. you rise up slightly so youâre situated above hyuck, cupping his face as you look into his eyes. he grins up at you.Â
âthis,â he squeezes your left asscheek fondly before meeting your eyes with his own mischievous gaze. âthis is why i instituted a casual dress policy.â
âone hell of a policy, considering the ceo himself doesnât adhere to it.âÂ
âi donât need to, baby,â your heart flutters at the term of endearment, and you will it to stop immediately. âafter all, iâm the boss, remember?â
âyouâre a pig.â you throw back, and he only chuckles before attaching his lips to the skin above your collarbone. donghyuck laves his tongue over the fresh bruises as he dots your clavicle with them, forcing you closer to him by forcefully pushing your hips down towards his. as his lips move southward, brushing over your open chest and spilling kisses onto the tops of your bra-clad breasts, you canât help but keen loudly and grind down on him of your bodyâs own accord.Â
âsomeoneâs hasty to get marked up,â your friend points out, not waiting for a response as he reaches into the large hole in your shirt - a lee donghyuck creation - and around your back, popping your bra open. your mind is too hazy to respond at first, in part due to the way he slips your bra straps down your arms, chasing them with wet, open-mouthed kisses across your shoulders before pulling the article of clothing off of you entirely. you canât help but buck slightly against him as your breasts meet the cool air, and he takes this opportunity to wrap his sinful lips against one of your nipples, one of his hands coming up to run his thumb over the other one.Â
âyouâre - ha - youâre one to talk. mark? really?â
âheâs a good secretary,â donghyuck pulls his mouth off of you momentarily to speak, eyes sparkling as if he knows heâs teasing you, and you canât help but flick your own eyes upward in annoyance. suddenly, you feel the need to have his dick in you immediately, as if itâll fill the growing hole in your heart. you adjust yourself, and donghyuck watches, his arms wrapping around your waist to keep you steady, as you pull your safety shorts off.
he immediately drops a hand to your leg, tracing a finger up the expanse of your inner thigh as his other hand reaches up to grab your chin, gently forcing you to face him so your eyes meet. your mouth goes dry just as he slips two fingers into your wet heat, and you canât help yourself as you rut forwards, grinding on his hand. the whine you let out has donghyuckâs eyes becoming even more hooded, almost naturally smoky, and you canât help but gasp at the sight.Â
âheâs a good secretary,â donghyuck says again, and you realize he hadnât finished his thought earlier. you hate that heâs speaking about another person when his fingers are knuckle deep inside your sopping heat, but itâs donghyuck - your hyuck, whoâd held your hair back when you puked at frat parties and who let you crash on his dorm room floor whenever it was too late to walk to your own place - and you canât say anything about it. âbut if you wanted me to yourself, you couldâve just said so.âÂ
your heart stops, but not before he has the audacity to wink at you.Â
âwe need to fuck,â you choke out, finding it hard to breathe even though his hands are nowhere near your throat. ânow.âÂ
the desperation in your voice, the way your pert nipples are right in his face, and the way youâre humping his hand like a bitch in heat all have donghyuck groaning and rolling his head back on his shoulders. he flicks his chin towards the top drawer of his desk right behind you, and you use one hand to brace yourself against his shoulder as you lean back to pull the drawer open. this unwittingly forces hyuckâs fingers to angle deeper inside you, hitting the bundle of nerves in the back of your cunt exactly in a way that has you moaning his name long and low. your grip slips off of the drawer handle without you meaning to, and you scramble, patting your hand haphazardly around in the drawer before you come across a condom. you pull it out, slamming the drawer shut triumphantly before turning back to hyuck. he pulls his fingers out of you before you come, much to your chagrin, but you realize that youâll be coming around his cock in no time.Â
âmy blouse was actually about $600,â you say, your eyes meeting his as you tear open the wrapper. he lets out a chuckle before raising his fingers - covered in filmy strings of your arousal - to his mouth and wrapping his tongue around them like itâs the easier thing in the world. you feel yourself clench. he wraps one arm around you before shifting slightly, and you realize heâs unzipping his own pants.
âiâll buy you another one.â is all donghyuck says before pulling out his thick length, and you swallow on impulse as his bulbous tip, oozing precum, comes into your view. you want it - need it, you decide as you recall his earlier statement about having him for yourself - and you need it now. you hand him the condom, and he rolls it on with a small grunt before both of his hands fly to your ass. just as youâre about to sit down properly on his cock, fill your voids the way theyâre meant to be completed. donghyuck stops you with his hands on your hips.Â
you look down at him, and your eyes meet his for what feels like the millionth time tonight.Â
âare you sure?â he asks, and you fall deeper in love with him even though heâs doing the minimum. youâre sure, you realize, and you nod before remembering that he has to hear you say it.Â
âyes, iâm sure.â your voice is uncharacteristically quiet, but donghyuck says nothing of it. he grips your thighs, spreading them as much as he can without pushing you off the chair - heâs grateful it has no handles - before pressing his tip to your entrance. you press both of your hands into your shoulders as you sink yourself onto his throbbing dick, your teeth sinking into your lower lip as you do. it takes you a moment to adjust - usually the foreplay is much longer - but once youâre ready, you start bouncing on donghyuckâs cock, setting the pace for yourself.Â
it doesnât take long for you to get to the brink of orgasm - riding hyuck has always placed the head of his dick directly against the place inside you that makes you see white behind your eyes. for his part, he shoves you down onto himself when you start tiring out, tugging on a nipple in between his teeth or running his tongue down against your skin or slapping your ass and causing you to buck against him as he sees fit.Â
youâve been friends with benefits for almost a year, now, and the sex only gets better.Â
youâve been friends with benefits for almost a year, now, and everyday, every damn day, you curse your heart more and more. you curse your feelings when donghyuck whines as he nears his high, too, and you curse yourself for spending your ability to love deeply on the one person who wonât take it as he finally takes over, anchoring you against his body while his hips snap up into yours. heâs chasing your orgasm just as much as heâs chasing his, and when donghyuck pulls you down to smash his lips against yours, forcing you to taste the red wine heâd had with dinner on his tongue, while circling your clit with one finger like a madman, you canât help but let go completely, clenching and spasming and shaking around his length and in his arms. this is all it takes to push him over the edge, too - he spills into the condom with a beautiful, keening whine against your shoulder.
itâs only when donghyuck looks up at you after catching his breath and his face falls that you realize youâre crying.Â
â(name) - sweetheart, whatâs wrong? did i hurt you?â
his recognition of your state has the dam breaking, and you shake your head frantically to soothe him as your tears start falling more heavily. he wraps his arms around you immediately, pulling you into his chest as he does. donghyuck waits patiently for you to speak.
âi - i canât do this anymore,â you start off, and you feel his arms tense around you. before he can interject or argue, you forge ahead. âi cant! i canât fuck you and stay your friend - just your friend. i canât sleep with you knowing that youâre the only one for me when youâre out there hunting down anyone that looks at you, i just - i canât. i canât...â you trail off, breaking down into sobs again while burrowing your face into his shirt. itâs expensive, you know it is, and now itâs ruined with your tearstains. you try not to think about it.Â
donghyuck is silent for one, two, three beats. for a long moment, all you can hear are the sounds of your own bawling, your own quiet sniffling and hiccuping. his hand runs a soothing trek down your back.
finally, he speaks.
âi havenât fucked anyone else in 6 months.â
that is the one thing youâd never expected him to say.Â
âbut... mark? the hickey?â
âthatâs all it was,â he says, forcing you back slightly to be able to look at you as he speaks. hyuck raises a hand, wiping your stray tears away gently with his thumb before continuing. âfor 6 months, iâve kissed people and made out with them, but only half-heartedly. every time itâs gotten close to getting heated, iâve had to stop. do you know why?â
you shake your head, sniffling as you do. his heart cracks at how forlorn you look, how innocent and confused you seem. heâs suddenly well-aware of the fact that heâs still sheathed inside your dripping pussy.Â
âbecause every time i was with someone - anyone - else, all i could think of was you. youâre the only one for me, baby. i think you always have been. i didnât say anything because i didnât think youâd want me.â
ânot want you?â your voice is strong enough to sound properly incredulous now. âyou know me better than anyone else. youâve been there for me when iâve needed you, and youâve asked me to be there for you when youâve needed me. we built all of this together. youâre everything, hyuck. youâre my everything.âÂ
he lowers his head almost bashfully, and you know that heâs processing what youâre saying. donghyuckâs never been good at registering compliments - itâs a side-effect of always moving, always pushing forward - but you can tell that heâs savoring your words. it makes him even more endearing in your eyes. eventually, he looks up at you again, soft smile gracing his features.Â
âare we good?â he asks, and you can feel your heart sewing itself together again at the genuine honesty in his eyes. he really does love you back. you nod, before leaning in to capture his lips against yours in a chaste kiss.Â
âweâre good.â
bonus:Â
âthis is great, and iâm going to ravish you when we get home, but right now i really, really need to get this condom off and you probably really need to piss,â donghyuck says, lifting his hips to force you off of him. you swing your legs over to stand, leaning against his desk for support as you watch him tie the condom up and toss it into the bin underneath his desk.Â
âwhen we get home?â you ask, raising an eyebrow. donghyuck stuffs his cock back into his boxers and makes sure his slacks are on properly before standing up to situate himself in front of you. he takes both of your hands in his.Â
âyou think iâm letting you spend a night alone when you said iâm the only one for you? not fucking likely. now hit up the bathroom and then letâs go,â he says, fishing his car keys out of his pocket. âi brought the bugatti today.â
Summary:Â Thoughts of the flavor of his lip balm do little else besides cloud your mind.Â
Word Count:Â 2k
Getting a crush on your best friend wasn't something you'd signed up for when you met a certain sun-kissed boy last summer. And yet, as you sprawl with him on the steps of your front porch on this warm, breezy day, you can't help but reconcile with the fact that you've fallen deeply for him. Starting out as teasing jokes and snide snickers, your admiration for him grew with the changing of the seasons, and suddenly as the year revolved around you, your mind spinning, you are met face to face with the reminder of a summer love and how much he means to you.Â
Donghyuck twists an uprooted clover blossom between his busy fingertips as he leans across your front porch steps, a smile on his lips. His mind is as idle as the hazy scene around him as he breathes in the sweet scent of flowers on the wind. Alongside him, you set your sights on the clouds above the canopy of trees before you. On a sultry day like today, with its warm glow of light and its air blanketing you in a warm, languid embrace, you hope to calm your nervous energy around the boy of your affections.Â
The mesmerizing kaleidoscope of swaying tree branches above allows a filter of speckled golden sunlight to shine down upon his wavy brown hair. He ponders for a moment with pouted lips before asking, "Do you like the flavor of matcha?"Â
You pull yourself out of your dreamy reprieve to consider his thoughtful side profile as he looks out across the field. "I do!" you reply simply, and he turns to study you with curiosity as you continue, "In fact, it's the flavor of my lip balm."Â
His eyes automatically drift down to glance at your lips before he nods and hastily looks away, the pace of his fidgeting with the flower between his fingertips increasingly hastened. "Oh, I never noticed. That's nice." He speaks low and wavering as the flower disintegrates in his hands.Â
"What's yours?"Â
"Mine is peach. I like it." He smiles softly, expression pensive as he tosses the remainder of the clover.Â
You hum in response as the space between you is filled with the sound of bees buzzing amongst the clovers beneath you and wind gusting between tree branches above you. Nervously, you continue to admire his form. He's so attractive like this, lost in his own world, his eyelashes fluttering on his cheeks when he blinks. He straightens up and leans back on his palms, stretching out his long legs across the stone path before him and his fingers tap on the wooden planks of the porch as he casts his gaze towards the sky. You wonder what it would be like to have him as yours. Oh, the amount of times you've considered how his steady, strong arms would wrap securely around you, how his playful giggle would sound at your ear, and now you know how his lips would taste -
Your train of thought is interrupted by a leaf floating slowly down upon him, catching in his hair. Your fingers jump hesitantly before reaching forward to pull it out of his wind-blown strands. Stirring beside you to meet your concentrated gaze, his quizzical expression implores you to wave the leaf in front of his eyes with a grin as he comes to an understanding of your sudden nurturing touches. With a giggle, you comb his golden brown hair back into place, paying attention to curling it around his ears just right, admiring how the tips grow red at your touch. When you pull back to see his eyes watching you attentively, you suddenly notice how close he's leaned in, even if only to assist your reach. Â
"Is there another leaf, or what?" he asks expectantly.Â
"Oh, no - I'm just fixing your hair. It looks silly." You continue to comb your fingers through the wayward strands that catch the currents of the passing breeze.Â
"Ah, you're so sweet," he coos. His moist lips catch a glimmer of light, and a thought occurs to you. Suddenly your heart is fit to burst as you're thrown into a whirlwind of intrusive ideas. Â
"Uh- " you open your mouth to speak, but you don't dare utter your immediate thoughts. Before you say anything brash, you mash your lips together and break eye contact in favor of looking back up at the trees, but he clues in to your obvious flustered avoidance like a bait.Â
"What were you going to say?" He leans toward you, teasing and frisky, and you already know you're doomed.Â
Heaving a deep sigh, your face feels on fire, and you're sure your embarrassment is written all over you. "I can't. It's too much."Â
"Oh, come on. You can tell me anything." His hand lifts to reach for yours where it rests on the porch, placing his warm palm over the back of your hand.Â
Rapidly, your heart rate thumps and you close your eyes in an attempt to concentrate on breathing, but his thumb slowly tracing the veins on the back of your hand doesn't help to calm you. You gulp before throwing out an excuse. "No, now that I've made it a big deal, I especially can't say it."Â
"Why's that?" The taunt in his voice sings through the air.Â
"Because you'll wonder why I care so much about it." Shaking your head, you pull your hand from beneath his and burry your face in your hands in an effort to hide how absolutely mortified you feel. "I'm so transparent, oh god."
You're met with the view of his inquiring gaze as he pulls your hands from your face to hold them in your lap, rubbing his hands back and forth over yours reassuringly, creating a warm friction. He puts on his best persuasive pout and whines out, "Pleeease." Tugging at your hands, he jostles you gently from side to side, and as much as you try to fight it, a grin creeps onto your lips at his silly, lighthearted gestures, eyes squeezing into crescents to match his. Even when he is unknowingly the source of the problem at hand, you can't deny that sometimes he's also the ideal solution. Nerves calming, you breathe deeply and relax your shoulders, attention downcast at your joined hands.Â
The silky slide of his fingers gently interlacing with yours feels so delicate and comforting, but you can't refuse the thrill as your stomach flips. You notice how perfect it looks - his hands slightly bigger than yours as they cradle you before giving an encouraging squeeze, and you look up to find him leaning in towards you, studying your features. "You're cute when you're like this, you know." His voice is inviting and accepting, and your heart soars.Â
Entranced by his gaze, you nod faintly. The way his eyes melt and his hair floats in the oncoming breeze only serves to throw you further into despair. Â
"So please," he continues. "I have to know what's got you so worked up."
You consider for a second, taking the opportunity to study his handsome features this closely for the first time. Hypnotized by the power of his radiating smile and deeply trusting gaze, you feel within you the growing courage to speak up. Without warning and beyond your will, your lips part to speak.Â
"You said I'm sweet... well, you're sweeter," you clearly state, attention focused on him unwaveringly as you continue. "After all, you taste like peaches and I taste like tea."Â
As soon as the words leave your mouth, Donghyuck's movements on your hand halt and his lips part, slightly agape in surprise. Eyes wide and quivering, a flush blooms across his cheeks as realization hits. His close presence feels stifling as his eyes drop down to trace your lips. Peach-flavored breath tickles your skin as he closes the distance, leaning forward to catch your lips in his. The soft, moist glide of his satin lips clouds your thoughts as you're surrounded by the sweet aroma of floral stone fruit on top of your own herby balm. Relief overcomes you as you sink into the kiss, mind numb to all thoughts except those that revolve around him.Â
He pulls back just enough to lick his lips, his bright, exuberant eyes glinting. Hovering to only barely drag his lips against yours, he murmurs against you, "Tastes like peach tea," before pressing forward with added fervor, releasing an elated giggle muffled by your lips on his.Â
His hand squeezes yours so tightly, fingers intertwined, before softly floating up your arm to your cheek to brush his thumb lovingly in velvet-soft touches against your skin. The care with which he moves to cradle your face against his conveys just how much he covets you. His hand twists your hair at the nape of your neck and you press yourself into this summery boy, savoring his refreshing taste. Pulling back, you're rendered breathless as he matches the scene around him; the light filtering through the trees casts his deserving halo, his eyes glow with joy matched only by the sun, and his lips and cheeks are peachy like his taste.Â
A thousand and one things are on your mind, yet the late hour keeps you from focusing on any of them. Stuck in a catch-twenty-two where your head is too full of thoughts to rest, but the restlessness obstructs your ability to work through any of them, youâve taken to the task of cleaning your kitchen. It isnât particularly dirty, just a dayâs worth of dishes stacked in the sink, and a condiment or two left on the counter from your earlier shopping trip.
Itâs nice though, the monotony of it.
Youâre only halfway finished when familiar arms circle you, linking just above your belly button while your boyfriend makes a pillow of your shoulder.
âWhatâre you doinâ up?â Donghyuck mumbles into your shirt, sleep lacing a certain hush over his query. It reminds you of that quiet moment before the world wakes, the one youâve witnessed countless times in your nightly musings, when the world is still and time hangs suspended, delicate. A time where the smallest sound may break the spell. You revel in that lull, just as caught up in the magic as the rest.
As much as that moment leaves you breathless, you still prefer the drowsy voice of your beloved, the airy tenor that rasps smooth and wonderful, a hearth that warms you endlessly.
âCouldnât sleep,â you whisper back, motionless, body and mind ensnared by the boy who holds your heart. He mumbles something incoherent into your neck, breath tickling your skin through the thin cotton, and you squirm just a touch. Helpless, you smile, something dizzying and pleasant working its way through your blood, encouraged by his embrace.
âEverything okay?â he says after a pause, clearer, and straightens his posture. You nod, leaning back against him easily, falling into the habits of affection youâve both built over the years. âDo you want to sleep, or?â
âI think Iâd like to finish cleaning first. Therapeutic, and all that,â you reply, though you canât decide if the soothing cycle of washing and drying dishes outweighs the comfort Donghyuck brings you. Either way, itâs a task to accomplish, and youâd hate to leave it undone.
âAlright.â
You think thatâs that, when he relinquishes his hold and presses a kiss to the crown of your head, not without a gentle squeeze to your waist before he goes.
Youâve been wrong before, but never so heartwarmingly so.
After a few minutes, youâre met with the opening strings of Michael Jacksonâs Love Never Felt So Good, and you turn to face your boyfriend for the first time since heâd gone to bed. The sight is a familiar one, but one that never fails to captivate your heart to palpitations. Puffy faced, fluffy haired, and droopy-eyed, he looks objectively pitiful, but damn if he isnât the cutest thing youâve ever laid eyes on.
âBabe?â you begin cautiously, a confused smile finding its way to your weary features.
He cracks that grin heâs known for, the one that blasts your unprepared self in the face with unadulterated sunshine, and for a second you empathize with those anime side-characters that dissolve under the sheer power of the protagonists. Not that Donghyuck would ever view you, or allow you to call yourself, anything other than the best main character to ever exist.
âWell,â he steps towards you, pulling the dish towel from your hands with a cheeky wink and a chaste kiss. Placing the towel over his shoulder, he takes your hand to spin you around, and you find yourself facing the sink with his hands on your hips, swaying drowsily to the slow beat. âNo reason we canât have a little dance party while we do the dishes.â
You canât help the giggle that bubbles out of your throat, or the heat suddenly alight in your chest and cheeks. âHow is that practical?â you ask, baffled, but endeared by the hilarity nonetheless.
Donghyuck pinches your shoulder, and you can almost feel the palpable fondness imbued in his response.

[9:37pm] best friend!donghyuck x reader, fluff, 0.3k
after a long movie marathon with your friends, namely mark, renjun, jeno, donghyuck, jaemin, chenle and jisung, you had somehow ended up sitting in a circle on the floor.
you were all bored, so everyone suggested games to play to pass the time. after many suggestions and small fights (mostly between your best friend, donghyuck, and renjun), you settled on the classic 'never have i ever'.
the game started off easy, but towards the end, more personal things started to be mentioned ("never have i ever peed my pants after the age of eight," chenle says with a laugh, to which mark, the victim, yells out in embarrassment, "hey! that's too specific!").
you look down at your hands and realise that you only have one finger unfolded. glancing around, you notice that next to you, donghyuck only has two fingers left. it's jaemin's turn now, and you pray he won't mention anything that only applies to you, but seeing the weird look he's giving to hyuck and then to you, you can't be expecting too much.
he grins, a suspicious look on his face as he trains his eyes on the anxious boy next to you. "never have i ever," he pauses, the tension in the air rising. "liked my best friend."
donghyuck visibly tenses and the rest of the boys are all more or less shocked at jaemin's boldness. you nervously bite your lips and stare at him silently, waiting for his response. after a long while of hesitation, he slowly folds a finger, causing your throat to go dry and your heart to beat erratically.
no one says anything until donghyuck speaks up and looks at you, eyes wavering with emotions as he softly lets out the words that would change your friendship forever.
"never have i ever stopped liking my best friend."
[Break a leg] â10 minutes!â A voice had called out in the midst of the fuss happening backstage. The actors and actresses were doing warm-ups, easily shaking the nerves out of themselves.
On the other hand, you were having trouble kicking that aching feeling in your stomach; it was probably because you were the lead and the fact that Rival!Donghyuck had been making comments on your tendency to mess up in rehearsal. The show, in a way, depended on you. If you screwed up in any way, the show could spiral into an abyss of mess. And that was the last thing you wanted for everyone working on the play.
"You'll be fine! You're you!" Your other castmates had ensured, "Someone as talented as you wouldn't mess up. Break a leg!"
Though they believed that they were comforting you, the words they used to do so only functioned as catalysts for that uneasy feeling sitting in your chest. You tried your best to plaster on a smile, thanking them, assuring them that they helped and that you were fine. Only you weren't... and Donghyuck could read your mind from where he was standing.
As the lead's love interest, he practically held the same amount of responsibility as you did, only he was good at handling the occasional case of stage fright that all actors got.
Pressing his mouth into a thin line, he shifted his gaze from you to the stage then back to you, wondering if he should help or let you fail in front of the large auditorium.
Y/N would do the same for me... he let his train of thought run, This is all my fault.
Stepping from his appointed position, he quickly approached you, making his way through the swarm of cast and crew. Your head was angled downwards towards the ground, and he could see you doing some deep breaths to calm yourself down. You didn't see him making his way to you, so when he reached for your shoulder, you jumped slightly.
"Oh, it's you," you muttered, "Look, if you're going to make another joke, right now's not the time."
He frowns at himself and turns you by the shoulders, "I'm not here to 'make another joke.'"
"Then what?"
"I wanna apologize for all those comments I made earlier." He had been speaking so quietly that you almost couldn't hear what he was saying, "Don't listen to them. I'm wrong. You're amazing on stage."
"What? Donghyuckâ"
"Just shhh," he interrupts, "I know how nervous you are, and that's normal, okay? It's okay to be nervous. I don't know if this will help, but if you ever feel jittery out there, I'll be there to help you in any way."
"5 minutes!"
The people around the two of you started to move faster. For a second, Donghyuck, too, felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach.
With adrenaline running through your veins, you forgot about your ongoing rivalry with Donghyuck and throw your arms around his torso, in need of comfort, "Thanks, Donghyuck."
Slightly shocked, Donghyuck softly returned the hug as a warm sensation had replaced the tense feeling he had in his chest. A smile crept up onto his lips.
"Donghyuck! Places!"
You let go, step back, and offered him a genuine smile, "Break a leg, Donghyuck."
Donghyuck found himself smiling as he walked backwards toward his marked position, "Break a leg, Y/N."
summary: after the legendary interview was released, you and haechan began dating and have been getting an overwhelming sense of support.
genre: fluff
length: 2.1k
a/n: ah! i didnât think the first post would gain any traction but it did! thank you so much for returning for a part two :)
this is modeled after the korean variety show, life bar. itâs a great show where celebrities arenât subject to formal interview settings. please check it out! (mark did appear on the show with xiumin and changmin)
iâm not entirely sure of the hostsâ (other than heechul & yura) popularity outside of korea so excuse me for just labelling them as hosts.
if you missed part one, click here!
originally dnghycksâ gif
[the atmosphere is lively and filled with joy]
host: how long have you been dating again?
heechul: oh, haechan! youâre dating someone?
haechan: ah, hyung! letâs not act like no one knows.
[heechul, dejected, grumbles to himself]
johnny (laughing): haechan didnât fall for your bait.
[haechan winks at heechul, making heechul go into mock rage]
host: so, itâs been about 4 years?
[haechan plays with the glass in his hands, smiling to himself]
haechan (shyly): ya, just about.
heechul: are you guys still in your honeymoon phase?
host: do you still get butterflies when you see them?
haechan (nodding): of course! it hasnât been that long.
heechul: itâs difficult to have a successful relationship as an idol. how did you guys handle it after that interview went viral?
haechan: it was very different to what i expected, you know?
haechan: first of all, we were preparing for the award shows and i was super focused.
haechan: i think it was during our water break that notifications were blowing up all of our phones.
johnny: we were so confused and thought it was from our managers.
haechan: i didnât react immediately but i could hear the other members reacting, saying things like âno wayâ or âholy crapâ.
haechan: everyone turned and looked at me. i felt like an imposter.
haechan: i was like âwhat? do i have something on my face? did someone send a meme of me?â
haechan: thatâs when mark hyung showed me the news articles.
haechan: i blanked out for the rest of the day if iâm honest, barely remember anything from that day.
haechan: the only thing i remember was the pit in my stomach growing every time i stopped practicing. so, i kept pushing myself so i didnât have time to think.
johnny: haechan actually fainted that day. he worked himself so hard that we had to rush him to the hospital.
haechan: luckily, it was just exhaustion and i could still perform. but, when i woke up, they told me to rest as much as possible.
haechan: the managers made sure i didnât leave the house and told me to rest up.
haechan: it forced me to process what the news articles were saying.
haechan: once i did, all i was worried about was how y/n might be handling it.
haechan: was jyp going to give them a hard time?
host: did you text them?
haechan: because we were both focused on the award shows, i thought it best to avoid contact with them until it was all over.
johnny: even when it was all over, he still couldnât text them.
johnny: i remember haechan pacing our room, trying to decide whether or not to call them.
haechan: i wanted to offer comfort but i wasnât sure if it would aggravate the situation.
haechan: i think it was a few days after the last award show that i had an official meeting with lee sooman and the press team.
haechan: my eyes were wide the entire meeting.
haechan: lee sooman started the meeting by saying âcongratulations!â and i was confused.
haechan: he went on to explain that he liked y/n for me and would support this relationship publicly as long as it didnât affect my work.
haechan: i couldnât really articulate my feelings so i think i just nodded.
haechan: he continued asking me about y/n after it, asking if we had made it official yet.
haechan: when i said no, he said that he would issue a buffer statement so i had time to ask them out.
haechan: the meeting concluded and, on my way home, y/n texted me.
heechul: what did they say?
haechan: âcan we talk?â
heechul (dramatically rubbing his arms): oh no! the chills!
[haechan chuckles and takes a sip of his beer]
haechan: i told them we should meet in person to talk about it as professionals and adults.
johnny: when he tells it like that, it makes him seem tough. he was tearing up while he was getting ready to go out.
[haechan throws dried squid at johnny]
johnny: yo, thank you! i was hungry!
haechan (rolling his eyes): i wasnât tearing upâ
johnny: youâre right! you were sobbing. my bad!
johnny: you were so scared that you were gonna lose y/n.
[haechan balls up his fist in playful anger]
haechan: if onlyâŠ
haechan: anyways, i was scared that i was going to be entering the new year without my best friend.
haechan: i asked johnny to drive me to our meeting spot so our manager wouldnât know.
haechan: once we got there, y/n was already waiting on the bench for me so i told johnny to just chill in the car.
johnny: this is when i snuck my phone in his parka so i could wiretap the conversation.
[haechan pinches his nose bridge]
haechan: ah, hyung! privacy! no wonder your guesses were so accurate.
haechan: anyways, we sat down and talked like we always do. then, we got together!
johnny: in the end, y/n asked him out because he kept stumbling over his words.
johnny: y/n was giggling the whole time. it was very wholesome.
[haechan facepalms while the hosts laugh]
heechul (facing the camera): y/n, please take care of haechan! i know he lacks courage sometimes butâ
haechan: really, now? after 4 years?
[johnny laughs while patting haechanâs head]
host: do you hold any resentment towards your interviewers?
[haechan takes a swig of his beer]
haechan: i did at the beginning? i donât think y/n or i were ready to confess our feelings to each otherâs faces just yet.
haechan: but, itâs not entirely their fault either.
haechan: i think, because we kept it a secret for so long, we wanted to tell someone and it was the first time we were prompted to talk about it under the veil of false security.
johnny (understandingly): and itâs easier to tell strangers than your closest friends, right?
haechan: for sure. i think a small part of me did hope they would see the entire interview at some point and thatâs why i was so transparent.
heechul: and, because of that, youâre in a beautiful relationship now!
haechan (grinning): thank goodness for that!
host: what did they say when you told them you were coming to our show?
[haechan throws his head back in laughter]
johnny (chuckling): they told him that his taste in alcohol sucks and that they felt sorry for the hosts.
heechul: but, all the drinks you recommended are so good!
haechan (wiping away tears): thatâs because theyâre their recommendations. i donât really drink for taste, only the social aspect.
johnny: y/n doesnât like alcohol. so, if they think something tastes good, then it tastes amazing.
heechul: letâs raise our glasses to our hero, y/n!
[everyone happily raises their glass and cheers to you]
host: did you take them on a date immediately after the statements were released?
haechan: well, i wanted to⊠but, busy schedules and the fact that we hung out so much beforehand made it near impossible to have a good first date.
johnny: he was looking up âgood date ideasâ online and kept complaining that he already did those.
haechan: it wasnât intentional. i guess y/n and i just liked to do couple things unironically.
heechul: i canât believe you guys never got caught.
haechan: i think itâs because we were dressed so plainly without any disguises.
haechan: only a few people ever recognized our bare faces.
haechan: so, i decided to take them to jeju to see my mom after she called me.
johnny (laughing): i remember that call! she was like ânow, bring my future in-law or else iâll beat you up!â
haechan: when we got there, my mom totally ignored me and went straight for them.
haechan: she told them âi knew donghyuck liked you! heâs such a loser for not asking you out sooner.â
[haechan massages his temple and sighs]
johnny: on the record, haechanâs mom definitely loves y/n more than him.
[haechan nods in agreement]
haechan: so, after my mom babied y/n enough, i took them where you could see the stars perfectly.
haechan: i was really nervous and i didnât really know what to do until y/n grabbed my hand.
haechan: they looked at me and said âas long as youâre with me, every passing moment is perfect. so, stop trying so hard.â
heechul: woah, y/n is so cool.
haechan: they really are. so, we spent our first real date stargazing and just enjoyed each otherâs company.
[the host introduces the next dish and haechan helps set the table]
heechul: why donât we call y/n?
haechan (hesitant): i donât know if theyâre awake. theyâre always taking naps at this time.
heechul: iâll call them.
[heechul rings you up]
you (groggily): hello?
heechul: y/n! itâs heechul with the life bar crew. if you could introduce yourself.
[shuffling is heard through the phone]
you (clearer): all in us! hello, iâm y/n from itzy!
heechul: we were just talking about your relationship and wanted to hear your perspective.
[heechul motions haechan to say something]
haechan (sweetly): hi, darling. iâm sorry we interrupted your nap.
you: no, itâs okay! my alarm was about to go off anyways.
haechan: i was telling them about what happened after the interview and our first date.
you: ah, those were interesting.
heechul: oh? interesting, how?
you (giggling): if you know haechan, you know he doesnât really cry, much less sob. but, when he showed up to talk, his eyes were puffy from crying so much and he had tear streaks on his face.
haechan (pouting): letâs not expose too much, y/n!
you (teasingly): what are you gonna do? cry on me?
[haechan sits back in his chair, frowning]
you: anyways! i vividly remember feeling bolder after the interview, not that i wasnât nervous about public opinion.
you: however, i was actually talking to jyp when everything blew up.
you: he reassured me that he didnât mind and he would support any decision i made.
you: just like that, he removed a whole weight off of my shoulders.
you: so, i was able to perform with confidence and complete reassurance.
you: but, whenever i saw hyuck at the award shows, he looked like he was about to implode so i thought it was better to wait for him to text me.
you: iâm sure johnny told you how frustrated the whole group was. i was the exact same.
[haechan blushes and buries his face in his hands]
you: i just wanted to be able to call him mine but he wouldnât text me.
[everyone laughs and quietly teases haechan]
you (laughing): honestly, i was really impatient but i didnât want to push him. so, i waited for a whole week after the last award show.
you: but, he was avoiding me really well! i even had to text johnny to make sure he was still alive.
you: so, i decided to just reach out to him first.
you: during the meeting, i tried to act like normal and tease him about his puffy face but he was having none of it.
you: ây/n, this is serious. this is our careers weâre talking about.â
you: i was scared for a moment until he was stumbling his confession out.
you: âthe interview! i meant it. everything. i do. i would really like it ifâ i mean if you feel the same wayâ of course you do! you said it in the video. you do feel the same way, right?â
haechan (whining): youâre making me sound lame!
you: no, you were cute! but, also, slightly lame.
[you cackle through the phone]
you: so, i just asked him.
heechul: how about the first date?
you: he was so worried about being romantic and having that perfect first date that he forgot that iâm just a simple person.
you: when we went to see the stars, he was so nervous and was getting frustrated with himself.
you: to me, the effort he went through in itself was romantic to me.
you: i didnât need the most spectacular first date because him being by my side was more than perfect.
you: so, i just let him know my thoughts and, when he finally relaxed, it became the most memorable first date ever.
heechul: what happened after he relaxed?
haechan: i listed all the little things that made me fall in love with them time and time again.
[everyone awes]
you: he made me feel like the most beautiful being in the universe.
heechul: okay! before this turns to sappy, y/n! thank you so much for joining us today!
you (laughing): it was my pleasure! invite me next time so i can expose haechan!
haechan: ya!
heechul: will do, bye!
[heechul hangs up the call]
host: you can definitely feel the love between you two.
haechan (in mock anger): iâm going to jump them the next time i see them.
heechul (grinning): well, i wish you guys nothing but happiness.
host (raising his glass): to haechan and y/nâs beautiful relationship!
[glasses clink as a bright grin appears on haechanâs face]
a/n:Â if iâm completely honest, idk how relationships work so idk if the way i wrote about this situation was done in a healthy way :P
pls feel free to give me feedback because iâm always looking to improve!
thank you so much for reading once again!
also, idk really know how taglists work so... @wownajaeminâ, hello!
