Partners?! | Hinamori and Lilynette
Lilynette was already in the Sereitei, still reluctant about this whole 'partnering thing'. One could tell her unwillingness to be in the Soul Society by her footsteps--slow and shuffling. Her small frame was stooped over to the side, her right shoulder hunched under the small bag she carried. Just a couple of extra clothes. At least she was only staying a week.
Lilynette passed by several Shinigami Academy students who ceased their carefree chatter to look at her. Some with interest and others with repulsion or fear. Quite tempted to throw the bag at them, Lilynette settled for a scowl and a bark of "What're ya lookin' at?!" instead. She looked forward again and didn't bother waiting for their reaction, instead, she trudged onto the Fifth Squad's barracks.
Man, she wished her uniform came with some pockets. Her hands felt restless; the one holding the bag over her shoulder drummed its fingers on the strap, while the other hand clenched itself into a fist every often. The urge to draw her little scimitar out was strong. Why won't the stop looking at me?! In reality, only a few in the midst of black uniforms would spare a glance, like they were notified of her arrival before she stepped into the Soul Society. Her mind was exaggerating too much.
Eventually, Lilynette arrived at the doors of the barracks where she was to stay with this 'Momo' chick. Oh, she remembered her back in the Winter War quite well. Memories of the battles and bloodshed arose, and she chased them and the forming scowl away. She stood there for a while, looking down at her scuffed boots for what seemed like a long time. She wanted to be back in her room, scheming ways to surprise Starrk. Not here. Anywhere but here.
Tch. I'm not a kid, so I gotta chin up and take it. Only children go running back to their home, Lilynette admonished herself. Taking a deep breath and sighing rather loudly, she lifted up her unburdened hand to rap loudly on the doors. If that Momo girl wasn't the one to open the doors, she was outta here.
