1. Drinking tap water, not bottled Evian and shit. “It’s good for you. When we were young, and working the fields, we drank from puddles.” - the grandparents said

2. Climbing up the trees and eat the fruits right there. Washed fruits? You wish.

3. Drinking full sugar sodas. Diet sodas? Hell no!

4. Eating salty bread with a whole lot of gluten. What gluten free and no salt?

5. Riding my bicycle in the middle of the road, no helmet, no kneepads, no breaks. “Put your feet on the ground when you want to stop.” - the parents said

6. Sitting in front in my parents car with no airbags, not using a seat belt

7. No rides to school or pick-ups from school. “What are a wimp? Go to school on foot, and come back before dinner.” - the parents said

8. What bulling? This concept did not exist. We settled our issues fighting each other until someone’s nose bled out, or had a cracked skull, and after we were best friends.

9. Getting home with a black eye, or scratches all over was a moment of pride. “How is the other one? This is good, builds up the character.” - the grandparents said

10. The playground? Muddy as shit, no bumpers on anything, steel toboggans with sharp edges (hot as hell in summer), splintery wood swings…
