Addie had been laying in a bed they’d assigned her to for so many hours she’d lost count. Once she’d gotten the horrible corset off and changed into a clean pair of clothes, she’d passed out and slept for hours. It was the both the best and the worst sleep she’d ever had. She was so happy to finally be able to sleep in a real bed, in a place where she was safe from harm. However, her dreams were plagued with nightmares, making her relive the events of the past week again and again and again. She woke up sweating profusely, her whole body still in excruciating pain.

She mustered up all her energy and all her courage to sit up and rest her back against the wall. It was probably better for her not to stay in the same position for too long, although moving at all made her want to cry from how much it hurt. She closed her eyes again and let out a small sigh. It was difficult for her not to think about everything that had happened to her while she’d been held captive, and everything she’d been put through by the hands of the guards and soldiers and officials of the Sector. But she tried with all her might, because thinking about the memories hurt more than the physical pain she felt all over her body.
