Tomoyo can still have romantic feelings for Sakura while being in a platonic relationship with her.

How many times has a rom-com or sit-com character usedĀ āweāre just platonic!ā when denying their romantic feelings?Ā
The way Iāand it seems you and the google definition as wellāinterpreted āfavourite platonic relationshipā wasĀ ābest friendshipā orĀ ābest non-sexual relationship*ā, which means, like you said:Ā āTomoyo can still have romantic feelings for Sakura while being in a platonic relationship with her.ā (*not sure if sexual encompasses physical attraction, though, since Tomoyo is physically attracted to Sakuraāas proven by the ear blushing thing)
I think interpreting the wordĀ āplatonicā at cross purposes is where this whole thing went wrong. I really should have elaborated on my choice in the op, though, or at least thought my choice through more, since the world really doesnāt need any more people using such a subjective word, easily taken the wrong way as evidenced, on a relationship that has both friendship and attraction involved in equal (?) importance, especially not with a character that offers such great queer representation.Ā

Bouncing off your chess club AU: I know we've talked about Chiaki's involvement (really the lack thereof) in other activities. What if he joined the chess club as a means to figure out Minazuki's next trap? And then he ends up being one of the best chess players in the club. XD
I like this! I was going to say Chiaki would still be an indifferent player despite his success, but I also like the idea that he gets reeeally into it too once he finds out he has the natural talent.Ā
But heāll still put on an air of indifference ofc until Minazuki finds a book about chess tactics behind the copy of playboy heās pretending to read. All attempts at defending his cool to Yamato is futile from there on out, but this is better, because the two boys become closer unlikely friends out of it x3
