Despite the brutality of this scene, and the anger it incited towards the end, I did thoroughly enjoy seeing how the Darklingβs Grisha wielded their power when they no longer had to fear a Tsar thinking their usefulness surpassed into being too dangerous to let them live. Itβs how I imagined Grisha, specifically the Etherealki order, would wield their gifts in war zones if they were allowed to reach their full potential.
Squallers could summon the air from someoneβs lung.
Tidemakers could dehydrate the human body.
Inferni could set blood on fire.
Honorable mention: durasts could potentially bend and snap bones (potentially control the movement, too).
And getting to see that played out on a battlefield was really cool to watch. It makes you wonder how much better off Grisha would be if they werenβt under the Kingβs thumb that whole time, and could properly defend themselves with the full scope of their power.
