Not only are these homemade fruit macarons delicious, but they're also very cute. They are filled with your favorite fruit puree or jam and have bright, fruity colors. Ideal for special events or as a sweet treat!
Ingredients: 120g almond flour. 200g powdered sugar. 100g egg whites aged at room temperature. 35g granulated sugar. 1/4 tsp cream of tartar. Gel food coloring optional, based on fruit flavor. Fruit jam or puree for filling e.g., raspberry, lemon, passion fruit. Fresh fruit slices for decoration e.g., strawberries, kiwi.
Instructions: Sift almond flour and powdered sugar together in a bowl. If you want colored macarons, add gel food coloring to the mixture and mix until desired color is achieved. In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and continue whipping until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the almond flour mixture into the whipped egg whites until the batter reaches a lava-like consistency. Be careful not to overmix. Transfer the batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe small circles onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each circle. Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release air bubbles. Let the macarons sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes until they develop a skin. Preheat your oven to 300F 150C. Bake the macarons for 15-18 minutes or until they have formed 'feet' and are set. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through baking. Remove the macarons from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, spread fruit jam or puree on the flat side of one macaron shell and sandwich it with another shell. Optionally, add a thin fruit slice in the center for decoration. Store the macarons in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 24 hours to let the flavors meld. Enjoy your delightful fruit macarons!
