We started watching this last night (got about halfway through before husband had to go help our friend who broke his pelvis) and it is REALLY good. It watches like a film, not a documentary. It reminded me a lot of Dunkirk, actually. It's almost all bodycam footage, which may be difficult to watch for some people, but the quality is excellent. Obviously, trigger warning for war violence. We were just spellbound watching it - not the kind of film you can watch while multi tasking or even occasionally chatting with your partner. The Director's last film won the Oscar for Best Documentary.

What is Artifice?

A.R.T.I.F.I.C.E is the most powerful processer of information within the Directorate and most of the nations within the XI cluster. What is this(very cool) acronym? Artifice stands for the "Augmented Real-Time Infinity Forewarning and Intelligence Computation Engine". yes i know very cool praise me. it can calculate and predict the movement of objects up to stellar scale and down to person-by-person, with incredible accuracy, small cones of confidence and small positional errors. Using live data from the battlefield retrived from Active Enforcer's armor sensors, Drones, Speculor-class vessles, and satelite scans and data, the A.R.T.I.F.I.C.E processes this data and produces several positioning suggestions and predictions with varying accuracy and confidence numbers. an Artificer will then interpret and translate the output and direct Enforcers and naval vessels within range to provide a strategic superiority over their enemy.

The true Engine is housed deep within the Victoria's core superstructure. It intakes information from the Victoria's sensors and escort fleets as well as sub-engines on Speculor-class Vessels and around the Victoria's outer ring and spire, to process Macro-scale combat in space. This means Wide-scale movements of fleets across the local system, fire control of the Victoria, and predictions of warship movements around the local engine.

The next step down are Sub-engines housed in the Spire and Outer Ring, as well as Speculor-class vessels participating in the active space combat zone to direct strike craft(these include Fighters, Bombers, Interceptors, Boarding craft, Point-strike craft, Escorts, Fortresscraft, and gunners) and PD(Point-Defence).

Speculor ships are ships piloted by Artificers. they house Artifice sub-engines and are non-combat ships. outfitted with powerful sensors, scanners, recivers and transmitters, they take stock of a battlefield and trasmit and recieve information to allied ships and Enforcers, coordinating micro-decisions for second to minuet level coordination and decisions: joint Enforcer movement, enemy movement, vehichle and drone coordination, and artillery/bombardment opportunities and locations.

Artificers are the division of Enforcers in charge of information and comms- are the interperters and distributors of ARTIFICE data. Wether the Primary Engine aboard the Victoria, Sub engines in speculor class ships or aboard other parts of the Victoria, or accompanying Enforcer squads, they make sure Other enforcers are getting the information they need when they need. Particularly in ground combats and when boarding ships, it is Artificers accompanying Enforcers that provide them with the ability to make highly informed micro-scale decisions to win firefights, position optimally and inform macro-scale decisions. In conjunction with the Infiltration Branch, they also conduct espionage and sabotage on their targets, further solidifying their informational and tactical advantage by blinding the enemy.

As powerful as Enforcers are by themselves, all of their physical, mental, and technlogical advantages are null if they are blind. The A.R.T.I.F.I.C.E gives them an Eye.
