Personally, I love the runaway style. A lot of the horses who do it are underestimated until they win a massive race out of nowhere. Like Katsuragi Ace winning from 10th favorite against 2 triple crowns, or Mejiro Palmer whose win at the takazakua kinen was so unexpected that no one from the Mejiro farm bothered to show up to watch the race except for Palmers groom (and he jockey who is contractually obligated to be there) and the going on to win the Arima Kinen

You know what Tom did appreciate about Swynlake?

All the space. It was about as big as Lindisfarne, but with the addition of the forest, it felt much, much bigger. He also quite liked the lake. And the cute little shoppes. Lindisfarne didn’t have much in the way of shoppes. Most drove inland for supplies when necessary. Tom’s ma usually had them delivered to the castle.

Which meant Tom didn’t get to visit little shoppes much. 

It was quaint and quiet and Tom liked that too.

He was waiting on Philly who was doing something or another at PrideU, he’d stopped paying attention. Work didn’t start until next week, so he was enjoying his freedom. Plus, Gilly needed to get out.

They were playing soccer on the quad, which was somethin’ he’d been working on teaching her. Border Collies were wicked smart things. Gilly was no exception.

He’d just tried passing the ball to her, but she missed, just a bit. Enough that it slipped passed the pup and towards someone on the path. 

“Oi! Sorry, lass!” Tom called, jogging after Gilly, who’d gone after the ball. “She’s more interested in the ball than you!” he reassured the stranger with a smile.
