Apollo was stressed out about his outfit. 

He shouldn’t be stressed out about his outfit-- because this was not a date, oh no, this was a very professional interview, an event which therefore demanded Apollo at his cleanest and sharpest, all Mad Men and Tad Hunter-- a look that begged for Therefores and Thuses and semi-colons.  

It was an interview with Freddie Wiggins, insta-star, and the cute boy who Apollo had shagged a couple of weeks prior. 

But very professional of course. 

And this, you see, was why Apollo was stressed. It wasn’t because he was nervous to see Freddie, nor had he caught feelings for the fellow. Did he maybe want to hook up again? Yes. And so how does one convey that as well as ‘I am a professional reporter who is excited to talk to you today about the development of your personal brand in the digital age and not about that thing you do with your tongue, though maybe later, would you do it again?’ 

In the end, he settled on vintage, wearing a sky-blue blouse with red, green, yellow and white flowers, blooming all over like the ‘70s come again. He unbuttoned the top button then buttoned it again. Then unbuttoned it. Then unbuttoned another then rebuttoned that one, but left the top one free, and then he scoffed at himself in the mirror and stomped out before he could tear the shirt into pieces and start over. 

He felt better once he was outside of Hatter’s, having nabbed a table on the little patio. He smiled from behind sunglasses as Freddie came up the way, lifting a hand to wave at him. 

“I believe I’ve saved you a seat, Mr. Wiggins!” he called with a bright smile.
