why do you have the color preferences you do in mtg?
honestly with the three colors ive expressed the most affection for (green blue and black) is that my gameplay style gels with the assurances they provide. i like that green lets you get mana fast and the first times i played a deck with no green in it i have been like "where the FUCK are my lands." conversely the moment blue clicked for me is when a friend tried to board wipe when i really did not want a board wipe and i was like hmm no thanks. i counter with glen elendra guardian. it is awesome to have some stake in what moves your friends make beyond just removing their creatures!! and finally, for the color I have never yet not played in edh: I like black because considering your graveyard as part of your gameplay strategy is just straightforwardly awesome. Literally the what is dead may never die color*!!! Also it has the best removal and I love to remove. Also it has the most cards that are named like death metal albums. Gloom ripper. Infernal grasp. Unbury. Etc
I think mtg is largely a very balanced game in terms of the advantages each color gives you and I think white and red definitely have benefits of their own. The red parts of my first commander deck have won me the game before and as I build my first tentative decklist with white in it I look at all of the protection spells and powerup advantages that color gives you and am like?? You guys have been living like this the whole time?? But the three I listed above are the ones I have the most affection for I think :3
