San Francisco comes through with creativity!
Frisco // Cherry Peel, of Montreal
as a frisco student, I'm going to honestly admit I didn't know how to feel about Karmelo for a while. I had friends go to that track meet, who knew both students, so i just kind of kept quiet. i remember seeing my friend come back to class and everyone was asking if she was okay, etc. (not trying to derail, just saying that the day was chaotic and people are naturally scared when they hear someone got killed).
but the more i look at it the more i realize that the things in this really just doesn't line up at all. karmelo made good grades, had so much ahead of him, hell, I'm pretty sure he was gonna be signed to a professional team. it makes ZERO sense that he would just murder another student for no reason other than a seat in a stadium.
i'm going to make another honest statement: frisco is a racist town. white neighbors will go behind your back and say that they need to retake this city. that people of color just don't fit in here. the mentality is so heavily embedded into this city and its residents. I, along with many other students of color (ESPECIALLY Black students) face racism from white peers soooo goddamn often. staff does NOTHING about it and continues to cover for racist white kids (and sexual abusers, but that's my own experience at least)
I would not be surprised if a popular, sporty white boy was one of them. sorry! the genuine discomfort and bullying people of color face in frisco, not only in schools, but in general life as well, is so deeply rooted here.
35 years is ridiculous. Frisco needs to do better

Mean Old Frisco - Little Walter
Blues echoes in four styles 1965
Little Walter’s take on Mean Old Frisco crackles with urban swing and harp-driven fire, while Snooks Eaglin delivers a laid-back, New Orleans-infused version—rich with that Creole flair and guitar finesse.
1959
Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup first recorded Mean Ole Frisco in the early '40s—just voice and guitar, nothing else needed.
1943
Nearly twenty years later, he returned to the track with a full band and electric edge. Both versions hit differently, but the heart stays the same.
