Through this piece did not end up being a literal meditation chamber, I appreciate the way it evolved into itself, as the theme of chamber, could still be explored with my own body, as the vessel for meditation. The layering of this piece became a representative aspect of the body, as the most complex, and foundational part of it is covered, such as the source or the self, what meditation usually aims to rediscover, or see, personal and sacred.
This piece equally explores the idea of how our methods and worldly amendments to our practice can be considered both helpers and hindrances to the attainment of source, peace, or harmony. Just as the identification and knowingness of the body is a method to get closer to the most distilled form of self, the soul, or peace, overly identifying or attaching to these forms or practices, can be counter-productive towards the goal.
I use this platform as a representation of the delicate dance that is the use of different forms of practice, by creating a comfortable yet delicate structure, on which one has to be conscientious of its structure, and of its use as a location for practice, but also, using it as a safe space for focused practice.
Here are the images. I feel that the fabric allows my body to dissapear into the piece, becoming one with the platform, my body as the chamber.
My final verb is to "elevate."
