For this assignment, I collaborated with David Glazier on a race starting on November 19th 2023 at 12:00pm, at the Bandshell in Sunny Isles. We agreed on the place and time after seeing where we lived and when we were available. My flag was based on my “Framing A Space” submission, with stick figures going around a piece of fabric. This flag design matches the original piece well.

For this piece, I wanted to create an animation that would interact directly with the fabric that I had chosen. I viewed the “space” as the video frame itself, which I had stick figures interacting with during the animation. The stick figures in the animation loop around the fabric continuously as pensive, mysterious music kept playing. I believe that the combination of the pixelated video on top of the live fabric element kept this piece interesting and offered a unique atmosphere.

For this project I created a film using assembled and organized shots of scattered, sporadic footage around my own household and made use of avant-garde music, combining the two to create an art piece that followed Gestalt’s principle of artwork that is intended to be greater than the sum of its parts.
