Reading Ron Chernow's Alexander Hamilton biography this morning, and trying to sort all the Framers into proper Hogwarts houses. . Hamilton, bless him, is probably a Gryffindor, although he's got the learning of a Ravenclaw and the aspiration and drive of a Slytherin. But that impulsivity of his feels distinctly Gryffindor to me. . I also began to think that maybe James Madison was a Hufflepuff. Everyone mistook him for a quiet, unassuming man. But he was working deals like magic in the background. As Chernow's book points out, a contemporary said of Madison, he is "slow in taking his ground, but firm when the storm rises." This, to me, is the epitome of Hufflepuff-ness. .
