Olga - Hufflepuff is the most difficult House to coordinate. This is partly because yellow is such a rare color in lolita. It is generally only seen in Sweet, and since my HP coordinates are built on black pieces, light colors just wouldn't work.
long skirt (folded) - vintage, I bought it for Dolly Kei ages ago.
paisley cravat - vintage
vest - offbrand, BCVOGA
blouse - offbrand
jacket - offbrand
flowers - Landmark (comb) and Foxcherry (brown brooch)
black flowers - KIRAKIRA headband, separated
chili necklace - offbrand
This completes the four Houses! Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. I will be writing more in-depth posts regarding the coordinates on my Wordpress blog soon.
This JSK has lots of colors to play with, but I haven't had the chance to wear it until today. I love the whimsical print, but it's a bit too short for me, and there's no way to adjust the straps... #aatp #aliceandthepirates 'Hide and Seek with Missin' Alice' #JSK with #foxcherry mini hat and #offbrand #velveteen bolero. Flower necklace from #landmark and socks from #terranovaph, shoes from #clarks #lolitafashion #classiclolita #jfashion #rabbit #holidaystyle
Alarice - dark classic with SouffleSong’s ‘Rococo Story’, which is not rococo at all. First we had the ‘Time Godness’ MUCHA print, then the BYZANTIUM print which was not byzantine! Who’s naming these things?!
I’ve written a blog post about my coordination process, and how I ended up with that particular top, 8 blouses later -> The One Tue Blouse: Rococo Story.
I really love the colors and tiny details; it needs a thorough review! However, that will probably have to wait until next week, so I can track down the sources of the artwork in the print, and discuss construction in depth.
JSK - SouffleSong ‘Rococo Story’, via DevilInspired.
blouse - offbrand, from my Dolly Kei wardrobe
necklaces (x2), lace tights - offbrand
hat - Foxcherry (with the SouffleSong overskirt as a veil)
flowers (hat, shoes) - ToxicKitty
shoes - Gucci
I’d been eyeing this release for a while (along with Clock Fairy; I tend to meditate over purchases) and I was super happy with it. Color, fit, and comfort were great, and it looks like it’ll go very well with lots of things in my wardrobe.
Overall DevilInspired was pleasant to deal with for Taobao items. Their mark-ups are fair, they kept me up to date on the status of the item, their English is quite good, and they shipped via FedEx instead of EMS at my request (struggles with PHL EMS are a common thing sadly). They’re also offering discount codes: san for 11% off.

Saya - photos from our comm’s June meet at the National Museum! It is now (mostly) air-conditioned, and with Manila Day (June 24) coming up soon we came up with the idea of combining lolita style with traditional Filipino clothing, the baro’t saya.
printed skirt (worn as a dress) - offbrand
underskirt - Little Dipper
sheer top and sleeve flounces - handmade (these flounces were my first attempt, made with lace from a dress I cut up. The remainder became a cropped top)
sheer piña shawl (aka pañuelo) - offbrand
OTKs - Forever21
shoes - Jazz (local! <3)
flowers from Foxcherry (in hair) and offbrand (brooch)
wide belt - offbrand
choker was improvised from a small locket and a bit of ribbon, as I felt the WIP choker was too ‘busy’
The baro’t saya is a national garment that doesn’t see much use. For probably-practical reasons, it’s really only worn for required school activities, performers, politicians and funerals. And that last, worn by the dead themselves.
Which is a shame, because piña is lovely. Pineapple silk has a unique feel, lightweight but stiff enough to hold its shape, and usually bordered by fantastic designs.
There are legends behind why the fabric came to be used, but one of the most enduring tales is that during the 300+ year Spanish occupation, Filipinos wore the translucent fabric so that the rebels could not hide weapons in their clothing. It wasn’t until years later that political leaders made it their formal wear.
The modernized terno (popularized by Madam Marcos) has honking big butterfly sleeves, which are much more difficult to combine with the lolita silhouette. So, baby steps. It was much more fun to put together than I expected! I hope next year we will be able to do this theme again for June.
