Roll-up window shades may be made of any fabric firm yet light enough to function properly. The striped fabric used on the chair in the foreground and repeated at the window is a deft contrast to the horizontal pattern of the wall paneling.

Stenciled pattern has added distinctive decoration to our homes since the beginning of our country. In this bedroom simple wall-stenciling patterns are a homey contrast to the elegant gold stenciling on the bedposts. Pattern and texture are combined in the woven turkey-red coverlet and the afghan.
