I can finally post this now that I've given it to my sister for Christmas - my 100% upcycled, oversized, Mexican flag throw pillow.
A month ago this punching bag ended up in our garage's trash pile, with a busted seam and in need of cleaning. At first I just intended to sew it up, but as I handled it, I realized a new future for it. I made only this sketch on a stickie note and got to work.
No pattern, never made a pillow before, and I only started seriously sewing in May. I didn't measure anything - I just went for it and figured it out while doing. This was a massive joy to create and I couldn't be happier with the way the type, the spray painted emblem, and the edges look.
Of course, I don't spend Christmas in America, and my sister doesn't live there. So I had to figure out how to bring this 9 pound pillow, larger than my suitcase, overseas. Luckily, it was easy to vacuum seal, and airlines have a 50 pound limit on luggage
