Hi!!! 4 and 9 for the fic ask game?
4. is there an au or trope that you haven't written before, but would want to try?
honestly? i have a morbid and niggling (if passive) interest in the 'fuck or die' trope. partly because i read this witcher fic at the height of my witcher interest and it lodged permanently in my brain and partly because i'm intrigued at how the darkness of the trope might intersect with my largely bubbly writing style. sex being a fun and silly expression of a particular relationship dynamic being something so prevalent in my work makes me interested in how i could lodge that into such a starkly violating trope. idk.
9. tell us about a wip/idea that you're excited about!
seeing as i brought it up just last night, i'll take the moment to say more about 'emotions, stumble, commotion', the [kinda] sequel to hot air balloon. even the concept is incomplete at the moment (or, three times Devi and Ben treat the principal’s office as couple’s therapy and the one time they…) but so far i'm kinda smug about how well ethan's section of the prologue came out, especially considering i had to rewatch a select few of his scenes to remember what the fuck that kid even sounded like.
The last person Devi is expecting to run into at the Martin Pollard Branch Library is known degenerate Ethan Morales. He’s sitting on the bike rack outside, but still.
“Damn.” She stops in her tracks when their eyes meet. “You got pretty.”
He gives her a once-over. “You got snackable thighs.”
She opens her mouth, then snaps it shut again. Says, “How come you can make unhinged horny observations out loud, and it sounds cool? When I do it, I get asked to leave In-n-Out.”
Ethan laughs. “I think it’s the growth spurt.”
“Yeah,” Devi says, letting her eyes tumble down the length of him. “I can see that.”
Devi glances over her shoulder at the harried mother trying to usher her kids into the library. “Oh,” she says, shifting out of the entrance. “Sorry.”
“Coulda just gone around her,” Ethan points out, then flips the woman the bird when she sneers at him.
“Damn, you don’t need to do all that,” Devi says, grabbing for his finger. “Put that thing away.”
He hooks it around hers, though, and bites his lip. “What if I like having it out?”
“Wanna makeout?” he asks.
