I have a sickeningly strong obsession with twilight atm and feel the urge to create a multi chapter story about a black girl in forks who inevitably falls in love with Emmett with this kind of vibeâŚ.

Change is inevitable, but for you change has become the most overwhelming part of your life. That's because everything was changing, and there was nothing you could do to stop it, slow it down, or pivot away. Life has begun to shift on its axis and youâre stuck in the middle of it. You had just turned 18 this September and now you were moving all the way to the secluded town of Forks, Washington. That meant leaving your friends, your nearby family, your old school, and your childhood home all behind. Youâd be entering your senior year at a new school, where you knew no one but everyone else knew everyone, talk about being the outcast.
All this moving wasnât in vain however, you were here for your grandmother. Grandma had been diagnosed with cancer this summer after she went to the hospital for taking a nasty fall. Despite your mom getting her a home health aid to keep her safe and healthy, the fact that your family wasnât close by, nagged horribly at your mothers nerves. âGirls, we need to talk.â That's what she had said when she sat you and your sister down to tell you everything, grandma, her illness, and the move. Neither you nor your sister protested despite how much you didn't want to leave your childhood home, you both knew this was for the best. That night in an effort to cheer your mom up you and your sister Evageline sat up till the late hours of the night picking out decor for the new house.
The move had taken an entire day to travel, your mother drove the Uhaul while you and Evangeline flew into Washington to greet your grandmother early. The smile on her face when the two of you arrived was priceless, you hadnât seen her in a while, not since christmas you think. You wanted to have visited more this year but life had just gotten way too busy. Not that grandma had really cared at that point, she just was glad you were there.
The rest of that week you spent moving houses, cleaning out grandma's house and unwanted belongings, moving furniture, organizing, and opening lots of boxes. And here you were now, helping your mom push a rather heavy box into the kitchen, to unpack what was hopefully pots and pans. You were sick of eating those mediocre tv microwave dinners.
Just as you finish shifting around the boxes a sharp knock is heard from the front door, who could possibly be here? You don't even know anyone here. Your mother lets out an annoyed huff, she hated having visitors when the house wasn't put together. âHoney, can you go get that please?â You give your mom a quick nod, walking out of the kitchen and towards the door, your socks gliding across the smooth hardwood flooring.
You take a look through the peep hole. It was a man and a boy. The boy looked a bit younger than you, he had long dark hair just like the man's, they looked quite similar, possibly father and son. The man was in a wheelchair a few paces back from the door, lucky for him you had a wheelchair ramp for you grandmother so he was able to get to your door with no hassle. When you open the door you're met with their quizzical and confused gazes, âHi, is there something I can help you with?â you say hesitantly looking between the boy and man waiting for one of them to respond first.
The man is first to speak, âSorry dear, we were looking for Mrs. Adahy, we thought this was her new address, we must've been mistaken.â
You perk up at the mention of her grandmother, âOh, you're looking for my grandma? Yes, she's inside.â Once the words leave your mouth an almost suffocating audible pause hangs in the air.
âShes your grandmother?â Asked the man in the wheelchair, you nod curtly. The man and the boy exchange a quick glance before turning back to you. âOddâ you thought to yourself, you made sure to make a mental note of that strange interaction you had just witnessed. âIâm sorry we didn't introduce ourselves properly, My name is Billy Black and this,â The man gestures to the younger boy, âis my son Jacob.â
They boy waves awkwardly, âMay we come in?â This time not so hesitantly you open the door wider for the two to approach, "She's in the living room.â
Billy rolls his way towards the direction of the living room you had pointed to, while Jacob hung back to talk to you. âSoâŚyouâre new here?â
âYeah, me, my mom, and my sister just moved here a few days ago to be with my grandma.â You lean your back against the wall hopefully giving your neck a rest from having to look up at Jacob, for someone who was so young he was surprisingly tall. âGood genesâ you guessed. âDo you visit her a lot? My grandmother?â
Jacob gives a small nod before he speaks again, âYeah my dad knew her and her hus- your grandfatherâŚfrom when they were younger.â You let out a satisfied hum, there wasnât much to say andâŚyou werenât the best conversationalist. âWhatâs yo-,â Jacob barely gets his words out before they're halted by the loud aggressive barking of your mini dachshund barreling towards Jacob. In an instant she's at his feet trying to nip at his ankles and barring her teeth like he was a threat.
You pick her up quickly holding the squirming mass of fur against your chest. You were appalled, she has never acted this way before, always kind and friendly to guests and she definitely has not attempted to bite anyone before. âToffe! Oh my gosh I'm so sorry, I don't know why she's acting like this!â You try your best to calm her down, failing miserably when you try to move closer to Jacob, her maw almost snapping shut around his arm. âAlright! Cage time girl.â You toss a wary look over your shoulder, offering Jacob a small âsorryâ as you walk off with Toffe still squirming and bark like mad in your arms.
After Jacob and Billyâs visit you get back to setting up the house with your mom and sister. But eventually you decide to take a break, retiring to the couch with a large sigh and heavy plop. You were thankful the first thing you had decided to unwrap from its plastic prison was the plush couch, feeling the aches in your body slipping away as you sink into the cushions. You looked upon the barley illuminated gloomy sky as the rain rolled out for the time being, the sky still thick with clouds. Yet somehow it was only twelve in the afternoon. You could feel your eyelids growing heavy, fatigue washed over her body as you dozed further into full sleep.
Youâve had lucid dreams before, rarely, but something about this one feltâŚdifferent, too real, too lifelike. It was like you could sense someone watching you. When you had opened your eyes, or so you had thought, you could see off in the distance of your backyard, two figures, barely hidden between trees and brush. Two sets of golden eyes were trained observantly on you. A girl and a boy. The girl had short dark hair spiking out to the side, a stark contrast from the paleness of her face. The boy stood slightly behind her, his blond hair glinting under the muted light of the obstructed sun above. How long had they been there? And why were they watching you? The boy placed a hand on the girl's shoulder, his pained gaze upon you intensifying as you felt a wave of fatigue wash over you, your eyes sliding shut once again.
The next time you wake up, it doesnât feel like a dream thankfully. Your eyes blink open slowly, a warm hand tapping your arm gently. âHey, wake up itâs almost four oâclock.â You hear your sister Evangelineâs hushed whisper coaxing you from your slumber.
âIt stopped raining, wanna go for a walk?â
ŕźâ§âË.
"You think I should dye my hair again?" Evangeline questioned, twirling a strand of her bleach blonde hair around her finger, inspecting it closely. "I'm thinking maybeâŚ" she draws out the end of her sentence with a long âeeeâ pursing her lips as she thinks, "Pink!"
You roll your eyes playfully, "You already did pink like five months ago."
Evangeline lets out a dramatic sigh, looking to you with a faux pout. "But I love pink. It's like totally my color."
"Oh, trust me I know!" The pair of you giggled softly at that. "How about split dye? You can use a few different pinks."
Evangeline gasped at the idea, "You're a genius!"
Your and your sisterâs steps against the damp pavement are the only noise besides your chatty conversation that can be heard along the stretch of road. You never really realized how much noisier it was where you used to live before moving to Forks. Silence engulfs the town, except for the occasional sounds of the wildlife roaming the vast forests. "It's so quiet here." You thought out loud.
"It's kinda creepy." Your sister adds, quickly glancing over her shoulder as if something scary would happen just because she spoke it into existence.
"Definitely, at least the people here are nice so far." You shrug your shoulders, trying to shake the eerie feeling of the town. Sometimes it feels like you are being watched, like someone knew you were there before anyone else did. âParanoiaâ is what you constantly shrug it off as. New place, new fears, thatâs all.
"Some are even nice to look at." Your sister nudges your shoulder, giggling softly to herself.
"Oh my god, please not the police officer again! You saw him one time!" You toss your head back in mock exasperation. When your mother went to the precinct to register all your information, you and your sister decided to tag along. It seems while you were there a particular police chief caught her eye, and now all Evangeline can do is gush about him. "EveâŚhe's old enough to be our dad!"
That made the blonde girl's playful smile grow even wider. "I knoooow, that's like the whole point. Cute brooding dilf with a thick mustache, how could you not find him attractive!â Sometimes you wonder if one day your sister will end up becoming someone's morally tooâyoung stepmother.
Just at that moment Evangeline's stomach let out a loud growl. It had only just then occurred to the girls that you havenât eaten anything all day except for a few snacks during your trip. "Hungry?" The older of the two asks, which you a little too enthusiastically nod your head at. "I think there's a diner up ahead, c'mon." Evangeline nodded her head towards the buildings off in the distance, the pair of you eagerly picking up your pace as the promise of food becomes more appeasing.
ŕźâ§âË.
As you make your way into the Carver CafĂŠ, the warm aroma of food filling the air fuels your hunger.
"Go ahead and take a seat, I'll be with you in a moment!" A kind looking woman spoke over the patrons as she maneuvered herself towards the back of the house. You both nodded and waved before making your way through the cozy diner. As you scan the restaurant for a table you notice a familiar face: the police chief. Evangeline obviously noticed him too because she nudged you with her elbow, an excited grin facing back at you. You give her a playful eye roll in response, pointing towards an empty table close by.
The woman who greeted you as you came in arrives a minute later, setting down two menus. âWelcome to the Forks girls, my name's Cora, can I start you off with any drinks?â You order just a water until you get a chance to look at the full drink menu and choose, Evangeline ordered a dr.pepper, her favorite. âAlright Iâll get those right out for you,â she finishes scribbling down your order one the note pad, tucking it into her waiters apron. âIf you don't mind me asking, are you girls here to visit or to stay?â
âOh weâre staying, we just moved here to be with our grandmother.â Evangeline pipes in excitedly.
âOh isnât that lovely, whoâs your grandmother?â
âMrs.Adahy.â
Coraâs face lights up at the mention of her name, âOh my goodness Iâve seen your pictures! She loves to show you two off.â At that, a smile breaks across both of your faces, itâs nice to know that your grandma talks about you. Despite the happy moment you canât help but notice a shift in the energy. In your peripheral you notice a manâs head whips around at the mention of your grandmother's name. He was Native American with long hair, just like Jacob, you wondered if he may live in his reservation too. The manâs eyes were trained on you and your sister for a brief moment before turning away. Weird.
Your attention is drawn back to the table by Coraâs voice. âWell isn't that great!,â She clapped her hands together, a bright smile gracing her features, âBella here is new to town too!â At the mention of her name, the girl with brown hair sitting with the police chief perked, turning around to face your table. âWow so he is a dadâ somehow your sister was always right about these things. She waved hesitantly, a bit awkward, you understood her awkwardness, news to town, everyone knows everyone, now you're suddenly the center of the town's attention.
You wave back offering her a small smile, âNice to meet you, Bella,â you told her your name, and you thought about how maybe, hopefully youâd actually have someone to talk to at school.
âAre you going to Forks High?â Her question sounded almost as hopeful as you were, relief washing over as you realized you would actually have someone to turn to on your first day of school.
âYeah I am.â That answer brought a smile to her face.
âI guess Iâll see you there then.â
