THE TWILIGHT SAGA: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011) dir. Bill Condon
WAYLAND ANDERSON
Of all the horror movies I expected to find on Tubi, Breaking Dawn Part 1 was NOT one of them.
Happy 20th wedding anniversary Bella & Edward

I spent the last week rewatching the entire Twilight Saga.
Mainly to distract myself from these hot temperatures. I miss autumn so much, it's almost like being homesick. I have completely forgotten that I fall in love with the movies all over again every time I watch them. I still remember the first time I saw Twilight, it was magical, and that feeling hasn't gone away to this day.
I've been Team Edward since day one and that changed not even for a split second. (Even though Jacob is so fine, for me it will always be Edward.) Bella was born to be a vampire, even though I think she loved the fact being a vampire more than Edward, lol. My favorite character, however, will always be Rosalie. I remember exactly how my opinion of her became more and more positive with each film. I understand her so deeply emotionally, and no one could make me hate her.
I read the first two of the series about two years ago, and yet I still feel the urge to read the rest of it too, to truly feel deeply connected to it. We'll see, maybe I'll do that this year.
i was reading breaking dawn earlier and it almost brought me to tears wtfðŸ˜
the movies go into some depth about rosalie’s backstory in eclipse and obviously how she envies bella, wishing she had the option to stay human, and her desire for a human life is shown again in breaking dawn when bella is pregnant with renesmee and she is determined to protect the baby at all costs, because that’s would she would have wanted if she was in bella’s position.
what the movies don’t mention is how leah actually empathises with rosalie and, as she is a werewolf, her body doesn’t work the same as a regular human and how her reproductive organs don’t work anymore, frozen in time like vampires. she then goes on to say how she believes it’s why sam never imprinted on her, because sam thinks imprinting is to pass down the wolf gene, which leah can’t do. she says (basically) ‘we want most what we can’t have’ which is true, her and rosalie being the best examples.
it’s so unfortunate how leah, the only female werewolf, basically has no purpose, feeling as if she doesn’t belong as a human nor a werewolf because of her differences. :(
it made me feel so emotional and gave me even more reason why she is one of my favourite characters. i guess she is more of a ‘side character’ but she has so much depth and the og pack (and jacob originally) just saw her as ‘annoying’ because she filled everyone’s thoughts with her grief over sam, which i think was perfectly valid - constantly having to spend time with someone you love, who will never reciprocate those feelings because of a wolf thing, that you’d never come across in the normal world.
the vampires and wolves are a lot more alike than most people realise, they’re still all human deep down, whatever their genes say.
(leah clearwater deserves more appreciation she is so underrated and overlooked.🥹)
dying in the place of someone i love seems like a good way to go.
