Yesterday I got to attend my very first Otaku party with a friend. I live in Cairo where big Otaku events are very scarce, let alone something small enough for someone like me to be able to take part in it.
But thankfully, a group of girls held a small party in the Japan Foundation Office, yet it was so much fun and I personally haven’t had that much fun in ages.
Here are my highlights from the day:
- They were doing an anime trivia, and all the questions that were asked before me I didn’t know the answer for. So when my question (It was a ‘Who said it’ question) came up, I didn’t think much about it, it turned out it was a quote by Kuroo Tetsuroo from Haikyuu. So I had a mini existential crisis. I’m still not over it.
- When they played the music video of Shining fucking Romance on a large screen. I literally screamed and sang along and danced all over the place. And I kept telling my friend “Those Are My Boys!” Damn!
- When I won one of the mini games!!
- When I answered a question in the trivia, completely by luck!
- The Cosplayers were really cute!
- When we went to get the posters after the party and when I came across a poster of Kaito Kid, the girl next me to said: “Yuck, I don’t like him.” and I immediately said something that could be roughly translated to: “Yuck you!” and we both went into a long fit of laughter!
- And of course, last but not least at all. Finally getting my first two detective Conan posters as souvenirs. Still can’t believe it. The available ones were two Shinran posters, Akai-san and Kaito Kid!
