Subaru's Subaru
This is so cute I had to rise back from the dead to reblog it.
Something I appreciate from Detective Conan is how (at least so far) it has consistently exposed moral messages about how, no matter the circumstances, killing is wrong and that once you take a life you can't take it back.
I think about that case involving Mouri with his old workmates in a hot springs and how he dismisses the explanations of the killer by saying that he doesn't care about what a murderer has to say. It's probably one of the scenes I remember the most.
I recently watched episodes 219-220 (the case where Heiji's mother is revealed) and she gave a more detailed monologue to the murderer about precisely how unretrievable a life taken is.
It might seen a dumb or naive message but I think it's honestly quite powerful imho. First of all, it's pretty rare for shonen manga to stop for a moment and consider that maybe killing is bad no matter the circumstances.
Second, DC is anything but a manga/anime that is shy in showing blood or murder. Not only that, but in some cases they even give room for the killer to explain their motivations and some of them actually make sense, heck, some of them even make you think that you know maybe they were justified in recurring to murder. I love that. I like when a manga doesn't treat you like a kid and actually allows you to think.
Then the manga reminds you that it's a wrong thing to do by many means. Whether it's Mouri's outright rejection of the explanations, a sermon, the killer showing regret, the overall depressing atmosphere after Conan's exposing, etc.
I really love this post because for us who have had Conan for so long, it’s easy to forget the little awesome things that made us appreciate the series in the first place. And maybe reduce them to recurring jokes and having a laugh about it. But really though. While Conan is not exactly a DARK series, I think it’s one of my favorite works to illustrate characters’ feelings. And I’m not only talking about recurring characters, I mean NPCs as well. Committing something as horrible as killing your own sister, we could argue that maybe the motive wasn’t strong enough, but did every murderer commit murders over reasonable motives? We understood what she thought, how she felt, how she kept feeding herself lies in order to be able to kill her own sister. For Conan to break the fake reality she created by just hitting her with the truth and watching her web of lies shatter before her eyes. Gosho Aoyama might not be the world’s best writer, but he’s a good writer. Being frustrated with some decisions he made with the series, doesn’t negate the fact he gave us an amazing story. One that has retained an insane popularity for thirty years.
Me waiting for the grand reveal that Iori Muga is in fact Akai Tsutomou.
It is with great sadness that I declare that this theory is officially dead. It was fun while it lasted though.
this about sums up their dynamic

Fangirl Haibara also has Big Osaka mug
Higo phonestrap/keychain ✅
Big Osaka cap & shirt ✅
Big Osaka phone wallpaper ✅
Big Osaka mug ✅
But I also like how she bought at least 3 mugs coz Agasa and Conan were also drinking from these mugs. That's so cute.
Ai-chan feeling safe enough around Shinichi, Professor Agasa and the kids to act her real age. Not the mature scientist she was forced to become by the organization, not a 7 year old.
A true 18 year old having a crush on a celebrity and keeping items that remind her of him.
Anan magazine covers
This really fits into Actors AU.
Now that I’m all over Haneda Kohji, I can’t stop thinking about the friendship between the Akais and the Hanedas. And Kohji being an older brother figure for Shuichi and Shukichi. I like the idea of Kohji teasing Shuichi for how stoic he’s for a kid, and developing a special bond with Shukichi over Shogi.
And Tsutomou being Kohji’s cool relatively young uncle, who’s easier to talk to than his older father, when it comes to certain topics.
So in other words, my love for the Akai Family is now being extended to the Hanedas.
Some Thoughts About The Akais:
- Mary is the serious one, and Tsutomou is the carefree one.
-Between Shuichi and Shukichi, Shuichi is the one more attached to his dad. (He didn’t forsake his father’s name, and he devoted his life to find the truth about what happened to him.)
-The great similarities between Shuichi and Mary are why they don’t get along all that well. Shukichi gets along with both of them just fine because he’s different. More like his dad.
-Besides the natural similarities, it seems like Shuichi and Mary are the ones who’re having a hard time accepting losing Tsutomou. Shuichi’s decision to join the FBI and Mary’s permanent unimpressed face show they just couldn’t let it go unlike Shukichi. And Masumi never even knew him.
-While Shuichi is not the affectionate type, and both times Masumi met him he was kind of a jerk. But Masumi understands this is his very weird way of caring, because Mary is just like that and she knows her Mom loves her.
Aoyama-sensei has just confirmed my three year old headcanon that Tsutomou is the fun parent. And that’s making me way happier than I’m supposed to be.
This is now officially a Wakasa Rumi stan account. If Rumi has a million fans I’m one of them. If she has a thousand fans, I’m one of them. If she has one fan, then it’s me.

Manga Spoilers Under The Cut!!
Why Wakasa Rumi is now one of my favorite Detective Conan characters?
movie 25 + halloween in shibuya
You know how everyone always said that Sato was more of the prince in a fairytale rather than the princess.
Enter Chihaya, an effing KING.
Miwako, my girl, you need to step up your game.
This new Alpha is all over your territory.
On the other hand, Juugo looks so unimpressed.
Like: “Here she goes again.”
I love the way you draw Akai with his long hair
aww thanks! :D it's just more fun to draw than his current hair
I love how grumpy he looks, while showing off his fabulous hair. It somehow fits to his character.
It’s like he’s saying:
“Look how fabulous my hair is, not that I’d care if you look. But YOU SHOULD TOTALLY LOOK!”
this is my year.

One thing that makes me really admire and respect Akai Shuichi, yet I equally find quite irritating, is how he never hesitates to be “The Bad Guy TM” if he believes the situation calls for it. It’s something that takes a lot of strength of character to purposely attract hatred and fear towards oneself (for the sake of the greater good), but I think it’s really unfair how much misdirected hate he gets for painting himself as the bad guy.
After file 1105, what’s your theory on who Kuroda is?
I think Kuroda was always related to the NPA/PSB. He probably either was officially sent to America to protect Haneda Kohji as the son and future heir of one of the richest men and most influential men in Kyoto. Or it could have been a personal favor supposing Kuroda was originally acquainted with Haneda Yasuharu.
I believe that even if Kuroda and Yasuhara weren't acquainted 17 years ago, they probably are acquainted now. Because in files 1088-1090, Kuroda kept saying he had something to do in Kyoto. I personally believe he was going to meet Haneda Yasuharu.
That could also explain the acquaintanceship between Kuroda and Muga Iori (If he's indeed Akai Tsutomou), because Haneda Yasuharu would be the common link between both characters. After all, it has been directly revealed Akai Tsutomou and Haneda Yasuharu are friends.
