I know font rendering is a really complicated thing, but it still vexes me when every single time I go to convert a mockup into something renderable in-game, my bitmap font generator tools all render the fonts in some way that looks obviously worse. I didn’t spend 10 hours selecting that font just to have to compromise with a similar-but-visibly-different font claiming to be the same thing!
(And when I’m not doing that, I’m manually editing hundreds of offsets in the font layout file because the generator refuses to pad them the way I tell it to....)
The gdipp (codename) project is a replacement of the Windows text render, which brings to you the effect of text like Mac OS and Linux distributions. It is easy to use with ignorable overhead, and it is fully customizable.
A brand new product which turns your windows into a Mac! With the power of freetype, it can render your windows font smoothly and much more convenient to read. This product is redeveloped from GDI++, a Japanese project which is no longer updating years ago. MacType is now more powerful than gdipp. Support chrome 18+, GTK and even safari!
HTTP 203: How to Reduce Font Rendering Time There's nothing more annoying than visiting a site and just seeing white space where the text should be, just because the web font is taking an age to load. Jake brings news of a potential improvement to the web that could help, and he also discovers that conferences are incredibly dangerous places to frequent!

Chrome 37 Font Rendering Error
I don't know if this is just me, but when I got my laptop back after resetting it, I downloaded Google Chrome again. The first thing I went to was Wattpad to see the new profiles once again.
The issue here was that I noticed that most of the text of the website became standard instead of their custom used fonts (even the symbols won't even show!) I thought it was just Wattpad, so I checked on people's tumblrs to see if their custom fonts would show.
I went to my old theme blog and fount that none of the custom fonts are working on the design. I tried to check for a troubleshooting issue, but I can't seem to find any solution for this.
Is anyone else experiencing this? If you guys found a solution, please assist! I'm going mad just by looking at fonts that look like that ugly Times New Roman.
useful looking article about font rendering
Seems to be the defacto standard for rendering fonts in opengl, also could look at http://www.angelcode.com/products/bmfont/ which is a creator for bitmap fonts from truetype fonts.
