āyou mean the best single weāve ever released? that would be cherry bomb, of course. everything from the choreography, the styling and just the song itself. i love everything about cherry bomb. no other song has topped it.. super human came pretty close, and the 7th sense, but cherry bomb won out.āĀ
what are your favorite b-sides/non-title tracks youāve released?
āi really like highway to heaven! thatās probably my favorite b-side that weāve recorded. and we have an english version too. i think i really like that song because itās just.. a really chill love song. i like the lyrics, both the korean and english lyrics. itās a song that iād probably put in a playlist for a significant other, if iām being honest. i wish we got to perform it more often. i think it would have charted well if we promoted it.āĀ
if you could do a duet with anyone in the industry, who would you choose?
āiād love to collaborate with gold star soloist 1, bc soloist 1, @fmdtaeyong, @fmdjoosung, orĀ @durifmd! for starters, not only do i think theyāre all talented, i just really love all of their music. iām a big fan of knight, so itās not a surprise that i like ash and duriās solo work too. i think that iād be able to make good music with both ash and duri if i were given the chance to. and sung is one of my best friends, so itās not farfetched that iād want to work with him too.āĀ
5. answered.Ā
what changes would you implement if you were the ceo of your company?
āthe length of the idol contract would be the first thing that i changed. i donāt think itās fair to tie someone to a company for a decade. i think that i would make it so that the contracts would only be about five years, no more than that. i think thatād be fair. another change would be giving the idols more freedom creatively and musically. we know what our fans want, and they want us to put out music that we love.āĀ
describe your dream sub-unit (members and concept).
āout of my group members? oh, definitely @fmdsamsoo, @fmdjaeyeol and minjun hyung. weāre all vocalists, and i think itād be fun to see us do a chill, r&b kind of sound with a relaxed concept. instead of dark and sexy, we could do cool and sexy instead.. but for idols outside of my group, iād have to say sung, @fmdaidynn, and @fmdxsuji. sungās an amazing dancer, aidynnās a great rapper and i absolutely adore sujiās voice. our concept would be something retro-esque. wouldnāt that be cool?āĀ

notes: i started doing responses one by one, but then i thought itād be better to do one big mass-post instead of flooding dash all at once. thank you to all that sent in! appreciate u all :~) (if anyone has any numbers they need, please feel free to like this or just let me know, even if i already sent in an ask!)
2. what are your favorite b-sides/non-title tracks youāve released?
āi like diana. thereās something moody, sultry about it with a touch of elegance. itās almost like cheap wine on a long friday ā contrasting, but it somehow fits. plus, sooah helped out on that track which becomes the cherry icing on top. perhaps, thereās something better coming out on my next album, where thereās too many b-sides that iād cherry pick myself to be my favorite. for that, look out at the sea, captain.ā
3. what is your least favorite song (title track or b-side) youāve released?
āi donāt think thereās a least favorite. if there were, then i wouldnāt have partook in any of it ā my personalityās in it or out of it. thereās no in between, especially where my voice plays a part. i donāt want to touch things where my heart doesnāt lie, thatād just be cruel. wouldnāt it? if it doesnāt relieve my soul a bit, then i donāt think iād dip my toes in those waters.ā
6. what is one thing (a concept, a genre, an outfit, etc.) you would least like your company make you do?
āiād like to do house funk, maybe house-pop. youāve seen elements in it in knightās old releases, and even the oldies like decipherās done it. unityās dabbled in it somewhat in their b-sides, and considering fuse has amassed a long bridge of different concepts ā the spectrumās large. iād like to wear hawaiian t-shirts and prance around to some summer house-funk, and thatās something i think the general public can all dance around in their rooms to.ā
8. if you could be in any idol group, which one would you choose?
āiāve grown accustomed to fuse ā i like being in fuse. i donāt think iād fit anywhere else, though i would say bee would be a nice change for the summer fun. iād even enjoy myself to be in unity had i been a boy. can you imagine? the fun that would come out of belting welcome to my playground, and singing the tunes to touch. thatād be a girlās dream come true.ā
9. if you could say one thing to your ceo, what would it be?
āyouāre the prettiest person iāve ever seen. in the whole country, out of all the women in the world ā youāre the standard of beauty. but iām sure the whole world knows that by now, donāt they? i thank you for giving fuse some of the best songs, and though iāve never met you face by face, iād like to believe youāre better than whatās shown from face value. but, still ā my wannabe face is you but no amount of plastic surgery would turn me into you, would it?ā
10.Ā if you were auditioning for your company today, what would you perform for your audition, or what would you change from your original audition?
āi donāt think iād repeat the dance, nor attempt to dance to something like seo taeji and boys. if i recall, i did h.o.tās we are the future, and snsdās kissing you with a ruler i had in my back pocket. in retrospect, that was my standard of dancing ā if only iād known itād become a bad memory to highlight the work i have left. maybe, iād only stick to kissing you, ruler version while singing something more melodically acceptable than finklās now.ā
11. if you could do any special stage, what would it be and who would it be with?
āi donāt know ā i donāt know many things when it comes to these mix and match scenarios. i know iād like to make a stage where i can dance freely as if iām in the comfort of my own home. perhaps to a song like gee, or even oh ā even willing to dabble in lipstickās genie if it means dressing up like a sailor and going ahoy. iād want to do the stage with jeonghwa, sooah, and well ā i donāt have that many friends to give you a special stage, oops.ā
13. if you could become a model or ambassador for any brand, what would you choose?
āagain, iāve been blessed and satiated with each and every opportunity given. working with dior has been a smooth sailing ride as well as cartier ā perhaps, given the option i wouldnāt opt for pathere de cartier but a different line. still, nothing really takes away from the heart and soul of their jewelry, which i appreciate with my cup of tea. iād continue to work with dior, and if hermes would ever take the punch ā iād even have an affair with them.ā
14.Ā if you could be on any variety show, which one (or which type of one) would you want to be on?
āknowing brothers ā i really watch that show. or even,Ā ģ ģ§ģ 참견 ģģ ā those are the shows i keep tabs of on a weekly basis. i'd love my manager to have her time to shine and steal the hearts of the world with her variety work. sheās a very funny person you know. as for knowing brothers? thatās a given knowing how quick the crowd is on their feet and the little mini-games that come from each episode. i hurt my stomach each time from laughing along so many times.ā
16.Ā what changes would you implement if you were the ceo of your company?
āa free-for-all. iāve never wanted to become a ceo, but had i been granted the opportunity to rule on all floors, iād implement a few things. mandatory art classes, and creative freedom to the album jackets for all my artists. no dating-bans, let it all air out ā most of all, iād let them do as they wished as long has it harmed nobody else and they could handle the aftermath. no restrictions, roam free, bunnies.ā
17. what do you do to relieve the stress of idol life?
ācall me pretentious or call me a sell-out, i do what any other normal person does. i like sitting in the cafes with my notebook out, sketching. i sketch people that come in and out, or the people that decide to sit next to me. if iām home, iām painting on canvas with my record player crooning in the background or knitting a sweater to wear next winter. on a really adventurous day, youāll see me playing the pole or stretching my limbs at pilates. but thatās on a non-lazy day.ā
18. what tips would you give to a trainee about to debut?
āwear your skin like armor, and let it thicken as time goes on. no need to get hurt by words, and instead roll with the punches ā learn to accept the hate that comes, and be scrutinized underneath a microscope. sometimes, you donāt know if itās really reality, but the faster you assimilate yourself, the quicker you learn to glide past your career. think of everything as a catch-22, only thereās no real safety net.ā
19.Ā what was the hardest part of being a trainee?
āgetting along with the other people and have them stay away from getting to know me. itās obvious, the trainee life is temporary ā thereās going to be those that debut and those that donāt, so why pry further than you have to? everyone shouldāve been given the basic privacy instead of trying to play formalities and get along. other than that, i hated dance practice and i still do. dance isnāt a strong suit, and having someone force me to follow a tempo i canāt march to was no fun at all.ā
20.Ā did you enjoy the lifestyle of a trainee or of a debuted idol more?
āi liked being a debuted idol far better, only because there was a layer of privacy given to me. ironically, i was suddenly in the public eye. yet, it still allowed some layer of anonymity within the inner circle and the day to day people i interacted with. starting from a sea of trainees, and having it dwindle to a group of my members ā it all made it easier to handle in the end. besides, i was getting no sleep regardless trainee or not.ā
22.Ā describe your dream sub-unit (members and concept).
ātake the fuse darker concepts ā peekaboo, bad boy, psycho. and merge it into one, all while getting rid of the dresses too short to dress in. wrap it all together, and you get my favorite concept. i like mystery, and latent meanings behind pretty tunes, and being able to do that each comeback would be a dream. surely, the audience might get bored of it, but i wouldnāt and iām allowed to be selfish, arenāt i? my dream sub-unit, iād take sooah. without sooah, i donāt know what iād do, really. sheās like a mini-mom, three years younger. then, iād take kiana for the dance that sooah and i canāt handle. i suppose iād add suji in there because i donāt think anyone can belt like she does, no offense to kiana. but thereās a heartier belt when suji does it. sorry to our leader, i guess.ā
23.Ā out of the following six options, would you rather be allowed to play a major hand in the lyrics, production, choreography, styling, music videos, or concepts you release?
āi started off in lyrics, so iāll stay loyal till the end. iāll keep to the lyrics, so i can continue to write the stories my heart wants to say. sometimes, iāll fall into cliches, but thatās okay. if itās not in music production or the general content of the song, i suppose iād take a dabble in styling ā and stop dressing myself in the short skirts making it impossible to dance. really, those are the only two things iāll be selfish for.ā
25. what is your least favorite part of being an idol?
āwaking up early, not having enough time to draw ā those would just be the superficial things, right? but really, thereās pros and cons to any jobs, just ask any office worker with a nine to five. however, if iām given a sliver of honesty to wave my grievances, iād like to mention that i donāt like working in short skirts that get shorter each comeback. i donāt like getting mauled by the public of who i make eye contact with or who i work with ā i donāt like getting over criticized and the list goes on.ā
26. what is your favorite part of being an idol?
āiāve always been a story teller. i like crafting stories and telling my world for how i see it, and given this opportunity in music, iām able to do so. i like playing with instruments, sketching out things for an album idea ā the creative process while meeting new people along the way. itās a journey, an adventure and most of all, it avoids stagnation. iām on the move, go go go.ā
27. would you rather be incredibly famous with a terrible reputation and hated by most or be fairly unknown with a good reputation and adored by those who know of you? why?
āiām already disliked by most ā they donāt like the way i dress, who iām friends with or the manner in which i present myself. but iām given the opportunity to ignore these things along the way, and learn to handle things bit by bit. given the choice, iād rather hide in anonymity with the few around me enjoying my presence. iāve learned by now, public opinion doesnāt correlate to much as itās nothing more than a crow perched far away as poe would say.ā
29. what have you learned about yourself and/or society since becoming a celebrity?
āiāve only been taught life skills, such as time management and patience. in hindsight, iāve learned how cruel people are to judge things from what they see at surface level. the worldās superficial ā thatās a bitter pill to swallow. i donāt know much about myself as i havenāt gotten that part figured out. instead, iāve just learned that the world is cruel and the people in it amount to little to no positivity ā go figure.ā
famed idol life and career meme ā still accepting!
2.Ā what are your favorite b-sides/non-title tracks youāve released?
āiād say take care of you? that oneās a pretty personal one, and in any case it pertains to some heavy aspects iām still managing. either that one or superstar? superstarās just a fun one because i doubt any of the listeners get the actual meaning ā probably flies over their head. the songās a cry for help, yet the public doesnāt give a shit. theyāre just jamming to it.ā
10.Ā if you were auditioning for your company today, what would you perform for your audition, or what would you change from your original audition?
āi canāt remember exactly what i did for my audition ā my guess is my own take of a personal self-written rap or just a simple supreme team cover. i wouldnāt change it because in the end, got me here after all, didnāt it? or actually, maybe i would re-do it so that in any case iād be rejected and my life might have been a lot simpler. but really no use dwelling on things thatāve already passed, right?ā
11.Ā if you could do any special stage, what would it be and who would it be with?
āitād be nice to have an actual rap stage, considering the award shows are already plain and vanilla as they can get. but you know, i canāt just bring my friends from the underground scene onto stage ā thatās just not how shit works. so, in any idol-world, iād put max, sunghee, maybe that guy joosung.. though do soloists count? yeah, iāll just leave it at that then.ā
13.Ā if you could become a model or ambassador for any brand, what would you choose?
āconsider me satisfied with my one and only brand deal ā chanelās a womenswear collection, iām aware. but the history of the brand vibes with me. itās not some knockoff company trying to copy the others. theyāre original. they keep to their own style and people still continue to consume it. couldnāt have chosen a better fashion brand myself.ā
21.Ā what one song or album by another group or soloist would you have liked to release yourself?
āi donāt pay attention to that many solo releases ā and most of them are vocal based. i donāt think iād want to take any vocal songs, just not my shit you know? though i will say, sunghee had a few bops on their newest album that i wouldnāt have minded taking for my own. thereās a mellow vibe to that i found unique and unmatched. shows that dimensions is superior to the shit bc gets.ā
similarly to what i said on jiahās post, i will be posting every meme response in this post because i would like to spare you all from my spamming. let me know if you need more numbers. there are mentions of other fuse members.
āAs a group, I loved when we released Russian Roulette. Itās a song that not many people remember if compared to our newest songs, but I truly liked that song. And as for the songs I released by myself, even though I donāt have that many out, I like Iām Your Girl a lot. Mainly because it was the first song that Iāve managed to release out of Fuse, and that made me very happy.ā
āFuse has many good side-tracks. If I were to choose my favorite though, I would go with Kingdom Come, no doubt. It still is one of Fuseās best songs, in my opinion, and the way it sounds itās just amazing. I think that the membersā voices fitted the aesthetic of it so well, Suji unnie and Kiana unnie and Minjung unnie did an amazing job.ā
āI donāt like performing Rookie much. Itās just hard to sing and dance to it at the same time since it has a very fast and complicated choreography. It has a very catch chorus and I had it stuck in my head for months, too. Maybe, with all of that accumulating, my dislike for it may have become clearer.ā
āThere are many people I would love to work with, but I donāt think our styles and voices would fit all that well. If I could make it work though, I think I would like to do a duet with Jeonghwa or Alice from Lucid. Or Yujin from Element. Iāve worked with some of them in past projects, and the synergy is good, and I think we could come up with something interesting to fans.ā
āI love Fuseās concept! Itās funny that I like exactly the thing that weāre criticized for that is the change of concepts and inconsistency as some would put, in our sound. I think that because Fuse is so versatile and always changing the style of the songs that we put out, makes it more fun, at least to me. Every comeback is a little surprise.ā
āIt would be very unfortunate if Gold Star changed the direction they had for Fuse and started making us release sexier songs in BEEās style or Gal.acticās. I donāt think I would be comfortable making that type of music and selling it the way the companies do. I don't think it fits my image either, and fans would be left disappointed by the sudden and extreme shift. Fuse is very versatile, but I don't think that kind of concept would sit very well."
āIt feels a little unfair to bring this up because itās Fuseās first time going this long without talks of a future comeback. Fuseās last comeback was last August, so it has been six months since our last album release, and there are no talks at this moment that I know of, of a possible comeback. Maybe because I started in the group at such a young age, I got used to it and the constant schedules, so I miss that a little. I wish we could have a better understanding of whatās to come.ā
āWISH releases very good songs, as well as Femme Fatale, so I would love to perform their songs as well. Their styles please me a lot, and I think I could fit in with their image if given the chance. WISHās more girlish style and Femme Fataleās girl-crush agree on a lot with the type of songs I like listening to. Maybe in the future I can have the chance to do a cover of their songs at least.ā
āThatās a tough question. Compared to our CEO, Iām not even as experienced as he is, and I donāt think that Iām qualified enough to say anything to him. Can I ask him a question instead? Why did they recruit me in the first place when I had no skills, and why did they make me debut when I was lacking if compared to the other trainees? Itās something that always bugged me, and maybe our CEO has the answers Iām looking for.ā
āI was extremely unprepared for my audition on the day that it happened. I had nothing prepared, and I just used one of the songs I have learned in my music class. Now, I would like to be more prepared and show a little more seriousness in my intention to become a trainee. I treated that opportunity as if it was nothing back in the day and was sort of forced into it by my friend and the judges who were working at the auditions. I would work on a nice acoustic song to present to them if my audition happened now.ā
āBecause Iām the youngest in my team, we could gather all the maknaes of all groups, or only from girl groups, and performed a song, everyone together. We could go back to first-generation songs or maybe a song that is originally from a soloist and make a special performance out of it. I think it would be cool to see all of us together and collaborating since we donāt have that opportunity as often. It would be interesting to see our different styles of work merging.ā
āRecently, Iāve appeared in a few varieties shows, and I enjoy doing them quite a lot. If Iām honest, I would love to have the chance of appearing in more of those and make FUSE and myself known a little bit more through my appearances on TV. Quite ambitious, I know, and a little bit out of my league since most people expect me to branch out to modeling, but as of right now, Iām very interested in that. It's a good chance for me to get out of my comfort zone and work on things that I usually wouldn't do, too, so there are only positives.ā
āIt sounds silly, but I would love being the ambassador for a food brand. Any food brand and any product. Iām the ambassador for Ghana Chocolate, and that alone was already very fun, and I love chocolate as well, so if in the future I can work with a brand like that, I would be really satisfied. Maybe for Banana Milk, or yogurt. Oh! Or fried chicken!ā
āAmazing Saturday. That is a show that I like watching, and Hyeju sunbaenim was part of the cast for a little while, and I think that show is just very entertaining and fun. Running Man is also a show that I still want to appear on, too, because it has been airing for so long, and even though Iām not the most athletic person, I would still think itās a good show to make an appearance. Maybe in the future.ā
āOh, absolutely not. Iām not qualified for a job like that, and I wouldnāt want to take that much responsibility under my arms. I think itās easy for us to complain, but giving the shots and making the decisions is way harder than most of us can even comprehend. So, no, if I was offered that position, I would have to decline.ā
āI was given no choice in the matter, and I had to become the CEO of my company, I would like to give my artists more creative space and support. I have quite a bit of that now. Iāve released songs that I wrote and produced for other artists as well, but itās something that I only started doing recently. Even though composing and writing were things I wanted to do a while ago, I wasnāt given the opportunity and I'd like to offer that support.ā
āI talk to my family to relieve stress. I have two older brothers, and they are very supportive of me, and they listen to me if they notice something is amiss. They just have this way of making me feel better by either being very understanding or annoying until I forget what I was stressed about. They make me watch or play scary games too. They say that screaming relieves the stress, but I have the impression my middle brother is just messing with me.ā
āBe proud of yourself. Even if you think youāre lacking, you worked very hard to get to where you are right now. You have a lot of room for improvement, and debuting is not supposed to be your stagnation point. Just keep in mind that you donāt have to be excellent or at your best. You can give little steps to reach other goals.ā
āThinking that I wasnāt enough compared to the other trainees. I was indeed lacking if compared to them, but I used to think that I would never be as good as them and wouldnāt get any improvement because I would always be behind them. There were a lot of self-doubts, and I didnāt think I was enough. That might be the hardest part of being a trainee.ā
āAs a debuted idol. I learned a lot after my debut, and I started trusting and believing in myself more, too. I can work with members who give me a lot of support, and I truly enjoy the schedules we have, either when weāre together or when we got separated in our solo schedules. I feel like I have a lot more freedom too, which gives me the chance to get to know more people and make more friends in the industry.ā
āVery tough choice to make, but I would love to release anything by Lucid. Lucid is one of my favorite groups, and I love their discography, especially their darker, more rock-based songs. Chase Me is the first one that comes to mind right now, so maybe I could release their debut album Nightmare. I think that would be super fun.ā
āMinjung unnie is the first one that comes to mind when we talk about a possible sub-unit. Iām close to her, and we worked together before too in her solo songs, so I know weāre a good match, and we could have great synergy if that ever happened. Minjung unnie is a great singer so we could have a duet and I can rap for her. About the concept, maybe something more different from what we usually release with Fuse would be interesting.ā
āWe have exceptional songwriters and composers in our group. Suji unnie and Minjung unnie are here to prove that. They do an amazing job at that, so if I could, I would want to work on the production side of things. Again, Iāve done this before, and I like doing it as well. Just like writing and composing, I think that producing also leaves a bit of your touch in the song so I would love that.ā
āDimensions has two of my favorite groups, Lucid and 7rophy, so I would like to be signed under them and see how this thing would go. I know that Dimensions is rising in popularity these days as well, which is great for them. I also like how they make groups so distinguishable from each other, so that might be interesting. There's also the fact that I know quite a few artists from Dimensions, so I think I wouldn't feel left out.ā
āThe lack of time that we have to do other things that arenāt schedule related. Iām not very active but even doing simple things like go shopping is a shore that we canāt do that often or at least properly. The lack of privacy is also something that bothers me a bit. I canāt get around without people taking pictures and things like that, and Iām not always at my best.ā
āI love that we get to experience this. I love that I can travel around the world to perform in front of people and hear them singing back, which might as well be one of my favorite things in the world. I love that because of this I met amazing people who became my friends. And also, I can make a living of a thing that makes me immensely happy.ā
āBeing less popular has its perks as well, so I would like to be fairly unknown, but have a good reputation. I donāt want to be the kind of idol who has a bad reputation, only to have the attention of the public. Any publicity is good publicity isnāt a motto that I want for myself or my career. And by being less popular, maybe I would want to work extra hard to make things work out, so my motivation would be different?ā
āI think that every time we have a concert, I feel the proudest. Itās my favorite moment of being a singer, to be honest. We practice for so long, and we work very hard to give our best performances when the day comes. After we finish it, I feel slightly sad and empty that itās already over, but I always think we look at our best when we perform on stage.ā
āI learned that Iām more capable than I could ever imagine, and I shouldnāt limit myself because I have the capacity of learning and doing things nicely. I learned that society can be cruel as well if you donāt reach their expectations which just makes me sad, too. Even when the person they criticize is young, they donāt seem to have empathy enough to not be maliciously mean. They are brave, at least online.ā
āI would like if they realized that weāre just humans the same as them. Weāre not superheroes who can do everything, and despite being taught how to do most things because our companies want to sell that image of their idols, we are capable of just as much as anyone else. Donāt be judgmental as well? Or jealous? Itās not good for netizens who like being bitter about some people debuting.ā
thank you to @jihoonfmd, @suweixfmd, @fmdkiana, @fmdinyeong, @fmdyiyeon, @fmdminjung and @jihanfmd for sending me some numbers!
Ā Ā Ā 10 / if you were auditioning for your company today, what would you perform for your audition, or what would you change from your original audition?
ā i donāt know if iād change anything? what i did for all my auditions got me into bc, so...! since the question says today, maybe instead of tt, iād do yes or yes. show my vocal ability off a little more, so maybe iād have stayed as a vocal trainee instead of joining the rap team... i donāt know. itās not a huge regret or anything; iām honestly fine with being our teamās main rapper!Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā 11 / if you could do any special stage, what would it be and who would it be with?
ā if iām being, like, completely honest? probably a member of charm or unity-- theyāre all so good on stage. iād love to do jeonghwaās and july-- i love hip hop, and itās more sing-rapping, which is the one aspect of rapping iām really confident i can do well in. think iād have to do it with a more vocally-focused member so maybe hyunsoo or dai? itād probably be easier to work with them since theyāre under the same company, but if dimensions would like to give me a love call, iām more than open to it! ā
Ā Ā Ā 12 / what career opportunities would you like to pursue that youāve yet to, or what achievements would you like to obtain that youāve yet to?
ā of course iād like a daesang, but we havenāt even debuted yet, so. i think the natural first achievement would be a first win, right? iād just like to be able to showcase all of my talents, even if theyāre not the ones iām marketed for, so down the line, iād also like to try a solo out again. maybe a studio choom performance? itās more realistic thatād happen before a solo. ā
Ā Ā Ā 13 / if you could become a model or ambassador for any brand, what would you choose?
ā something that suits my vibe! itād be a bit weird to do high fashion-- though any opportunity to put chromaās name out there would be very welcomed-- since i just.. donāt feel like iād fit, like, gucci or somethingās image. probably brands like peripera, etude house, holika holika or too cool for school? things that teens / young adults would use. as for clothing, probably streetwear? or sportswear? ā
Ā Ā Ā 14 / if you could be on any variety show, which one (or which type of one) would you want to be on?
ā iām not in a position to be picky-- anything thatād help us establish our place in the industry is fine by me. definitely knowing bros, running man and amazing saturday-- theyāre like the holy trinity of viewer ratings. iām not sure itās a show, but i do think once iāve had a few good years in the industry, iād like to do look me up and clear up misconceptions people might have about me. ā
Ā Ā Ā 15 / if you were offered the chance to become a ceo of an entertainment company, new or existing, would you take it? why or why not?

notes: once again, a big mega post because i didnāt want to flood dash with answers. thanks to everyone that sent in!!Ā
1. what is your favorite single youāve released?
āsolo wise? iāve only released one solo portal song, which was a self-written song called thatās okay. well, bc forced that one on me when they took pages from my diary ā still, my only one solo release, and thatās the favorite since iām left with no other option. in regards to group? everyone knows, amigo or not ā my favorite will always be view. something special about that time, i tell you.ā
2. what are your favorite b-sides/non-title tracks youāve released?
āsince i havenāt released any songs by myself other than the one mentioned before, iād have to go through decipherās discography. lovesick, odd eye, prism, honesty, stranger, better off ā thereās a lot to sift through in the past few years. unfortunately, thereās a point where my interest had started weaning off idol-dom, and you can observe that when i stopped paying attention and interest into what decipher did conceptually after 2016. at least the enjoyment was fun while it lasted.ā
3. what is your least favorite song (title track or b-side) youāve released?
āthatās an easy one. you take any b-side weāve released in the past few years, and that probably makes the list. the comeback with the b-side shot was awful. thatās probably the worst, in my head. never was a fan of that comeback, now that i think of it ā i call it the dark blip of decipherās early career. perhaps itās just ambivalence at this point that i have no real strong feelings towards bsides nowadays.ā
4. if you could do a duet with anyone in the industry, who would you choose?
what do you think of your/your groupās concept?
āiād want to do a duet with duri ā weāll have a tale of the oldies. the two 1990 liners inside bcās walls doing a ballad song. though, duri would have to take the high notes on that one seeing as how heās a power vocalist. thereās rarely times where iām able to keep in touch or have people around my age, and for that ā iām always grateful when i come across that. weād manage something interesting given the same age, and the ballad concept.ā
5.Ā what do you think of your/your groupās concept?
ādecipher doesnāt really stick to a concept, and i suppose our concept has always been to branch into new avenues. thereās good things and bad things about it, obviously. weāre given new things to try, new stylings, and what not. however, weāre also subjected to that risk in case it doesnāt turn out how bc envisioned. to put it short ā itās either a hit or miss.ā
6. what is one thing (a concept, a genre, an outfit, etc.) you would least like your company make you do?
ādecipherās novelty in the industry is that weāve been here so long that weāve managed a lot of different concepts. from the house pop to retro vibes, even spring ballads in soft tunes ā weāve done it all. the least? iād say another electronic heavy music where weāre dancing like madmen. i wouldnāt mind a powerful choreography to show i can stillĀ āhangā, but to the sounds of techno-ish music? i donāt think so. at least, not with my age.ā
7. what one thing (concepts, genres, styling, frequency of comebacks, etc.) would you like to change about your current career as an idol?
āi donāt want to comeback so frequently ā it seems weāre coming back more frequently than other rookies. it would be nicer to stay back and relax while we let the hoobaes have their time to shine. genres and concepts arenāt really on the top of my list to complain about, though i would enjoy an old throw-back to decipherās glory days where weāre given something newer. perhaps, thatād be enough to rejuvenate my attitude towards the industry.ā
8. if you could be in any idol group, which one would you choose?
āwith my age, i donāt think iād fit any group. perhaps, i could assimilate myself to knight, but the bad boy niche doesnāt really match mine. say, i was a few years younger ā then, youād have me inside charm. i think iād do a pretty good left and right if you ask me.ā
9. if you could say one thing to your ceo, what would it be?
āi respect the business model you form. however, iām still trying to understand it when applied to me. thirteen years, and i have yet to sit down and have a conversation with you. itād be nice to have one someday.ā
10. if you were auditioning for your company today, what would you perform for your audition, or what would you change from your original audition?
āmy audition was so long ago. fourteen, fifteen years now, and thatās nearly half of my life. i wish i could remember parts ā but thereās only the snippet of a ballad i sang, probably kim bum soo. all alongside some awkward dancing that bc shaped me up for. iād probably pick a sung sikyung song instead.ā
11. if you could do any special stage, what would it be and who would it be with?
ācall it a weird match, but iād have a set with duri, andy, joohwan, my maknae and jiah. well, those would be the people iād know well enough to collaborate with, though the outcome might not be as promising as i initially thought. case closed, never make me do a special stage.ā
12. what career opportunities would you like to pursue that youāve yet to, or what achievements would you like to obtain that youāve yet to?
āmaybe a bit of variety? iām completely happy where i am with acting, though itād be better if decipherās comebacks were rarer. however, iām taking what i can get and variety might be a chance to show the side that doesnāt get shown when iām playing a role on tv. iāve heard from some people that i can be funny at times.ā
13. if you could become a model or ambassador for any brand, what would you choose?
āas much as i like high fashion, i havenāt done any modeling in regards to brand deals with high fashion. a luxury brand would be nice ā i hear prada has changed with the entrance of raf simons. iāve been into the streetwear look lately after itaewon class, so that would be a current go-to. otherwise, i think iām happy promoting good feel and credit cards.ā
14. if you could be on any variety show, which one (or which type of one) would you want to be on?
āi live alone would be my first pick. only because iāve decorated my house nicely recently, and havenāt had a chance to show it off to many people as iām not home as often these days. however, thatād require an off day and i donāt have many of those lately. i think people would be shocked to see what i do when iām around my house, lounging and rarely moving around.ā
15. if you were offered the chance to become a ceo of an entertainment company, new or existing, would you take it? why or why not?
āas much as iām leader of decipher, i donāt think i could handle leading a company. i wouldnāt want to become a ceo. it distracts from my own schedule, and iād be too focused on my company rather than the hobbies and interests that appeal to me. sure, iād make more money ā but whatās more money on top of the money i already have? itās counterproductive and iād rather do what i like doing.ā
16. what changes would you implement if you were the ceo of your company?
āeach company runs on a specific pattern of events, and thereās a reason for that. a reason why routine shapes each group, so i wouldnāt necessarily change much. my trainee year was difficult, but it also fostered friendships within the group that i consider irreplaceable. the only change i can think of? maybe getting to know my artists rather than staying far off.ā
17. what do you do to relieve the stress of idol life?
āi work out. i run a lot, and go to the gym as cliche as it sounds. but each role requires me to be in top shape, and after all that iāve found a love for working out each morning. other than that, i like to shop and cook, even walk my dog. normal things any other person does on their day off. by the end of the day? finishing it off with a cold beer becomes my saving peace.ā
18. what tips would you give to a trainee about to debut?
āpush through it because itās only a matter of time till debut happens. the trainee years are taken for granted, and you need to learn to treasure those moments. once debut happens, thereās no looking back and youāre constantly on the move ā so, youāre better off enjoying now. also, donāt be afraid to approach sunbaes. weāre all in the same boat, been there and done that, so let us help where we can.ā
19. what was the hardest part of being a trainee?
āsinging while running around the room? i remember running too many laps, out of breath belting a high note. looking back, it was probably the time i thought i was going to end my trainee career right there and run to my parents. other than that? learning to live with others? iāve lived a blessed life, and iāve never had to share a room with anyone. that felt like a culture shock.ā
20. did you enjoy the lifestyle of a trainee or of a debuted idol more?
ācall me weird, but iād say the trainee life. there was something special about those days, and now iām so many years in my career and i miss the days crammed in the dorms. i donāt think thereās anything like it. the structure of it, the tears of joy and sadness all into one ā every emotion all there. itās rare moments like those iāll never get back.ā
21. what one song or album by another group or soloist would you have liked to release yourself?
āiāve heard a lot of songs, but i heard a song recently by a charm member. one of the solo projects of dai, and his song letās love was something that made me want to release music as well. maybe, itās just inspiration just at that moment, but the song was something i enjoyed listening to. knightās tempo was also something that i wish decipher was given, just because thereās a certain spark when it comes to the song.ā
22. describe your dream sub-unit (members and concept).
āmy dream sub-unit? does that relate to in-group or out of group? for the sake of this question, iāll keep it in-group to simplify things. iād like to keep our main vocal, myself and our lead rapper only because the maknae already has his thing in champion ā though conceptually, iām not sure what weād be able to do. something non-dance related, iād hope. perhaps, a power house vocal because i know our lead rapper can belt a few notes better than most main vocals of other groups.ā
23. out of the following six options, would you rather be allowed to play a major hand in the lyrics, production, choreography, styling, music videos, or concepts you release?
āno lyrics, production or choreography. iāve never been talented in that market, and maybe thatās why i donāt take part in any of these things. instead, iād keep to the styling, and music videos ā though, i donāt have an artistic eye. perhaps, iād keep to styling as it lies most with my interests. my members might get bored of wearing the same dress shirts and slacks for each comeback.ā
24. which of the two other companies (out of bc, dimensions, and gold star) you are not currently signed under would you rather be an artist in?
ānone of the other two. iāve said it time and time again that iām loyal to bc ā i might complain about it, sure. but in hindsight, i donāt see myself being in any other music company. now, if you had asked me in terms of acting? then, weād have a different story between namoo, artist and vast.ā
25. what is your least favorite part of being an idol?
āthereās no breaks, not for age. thereās little opportunity to cease the past, and continue on a new future. instead, iām always tethered to the role of an idol, and despite how much i try ā they still reel me back in each time for another comeback. on top of that, some songs donāt age well with time ā decipher has a few of those. yet, because theyāre fan favorites, i have no choice but to dance and sing along as if itās 2009 again.ā
26. what is your favorite part of being an idol?
āironic, but thereās a lot of opportunities to try new things. i wouldnāt have thought of cf modeling or acting, if it werenāt for the opportunities presented to me. as a result, iāve found a new enjoyment in an acting career due to the idol life. plus, along the way i meet different people to give me new insight ā suppose it keeps me young again.ā
27. would you rather be incredibly famous with a terrible reputation and hated by most or be fairly unknown with a good reputation and adored by those who know of you? why?
āi donāt know how to answer this one because being incredibly famous with a terrible reputation is just a cheapened output of your career youāve built thus far. that would simply become a life unenjoyable, so by default i suppose iād rather have the latter. fairy unknown with a good reputation because that way, you have a basis to build yourself up.ā
28. what moment in your career are you proudest of so far?
āiād either attribute it to parasite, which did win a lot of accolades not only in the country but out or iād give it to the recent baeksang nomination for the dramas i was in. i donāt think iād ever predict the success of stories i had a pleasure of working on. in retrospect, it was nice that so many people were able to relate and get along with the characters i was given the honor of portraying.ā
29. what have you learned about yourself and/or society since becoming a celebrity?
āiām no longer an extrovert. in fact, iām more of an introvert. i used to think i was an extrovert, and one time i was when i was busy running around getting assimilated to those new faces. however, over the years, my circleās only run short and iāve been given little things here and there that make me want to preserve my small circle of people iāve gotten to know along the way. i donāt like going out and partying, and much rather have a night in with dubu in peace.ā
30. what would you like to change about how society views or treats idols?
āitād be nice to be given more freedom ā but isnāt that what everyone wants? iām talking about stepping into something without facing backlash, or how weāre seen as approachable because weāre public figures. itād be nice to sit down and have a meal without the thought of dispatch finding who iām with, or scrutinizing any of my friendships. there should be some level of normalcy given, and i think thatās the least anyone could ask for.ā

4. if you could do a duet with anyone in the industry, who would you choose?
āI donāt know how I feel about the implication that I wouldnāt just do the performance by myself, but whatever. If it had to be a duet, maybe a male rapper? I donāt want them trying to outshine me, so itād be better if they had their own lane to stay in. Seyeon, maybe? I donāt know how well our voices would go together or what song we could duet on, but he could do his dancing and rapping thing and Iād cover the singing. Itās a given that our visuals and stage presence would be out of this world, too. If not, Elementās Sun? For a lot of the same reasons as Seyeon, and heās probably looking for a job at this point, so I could be generous and give him something to do.ā
8. if you could be in any idol group, which one would you choose?
Answered here.
12. what career opportunities would you like to pursue that youāve yet to, or what achievements would you like to obtain that youāve yet to?
āIād like to star in an action movie. Preferably a superhero movie, but I know those arenāt super frequent in this industry, so a spy or fantasy war or historical war movie would be good substitutes for now. I want to do a fried chicken CF, too, so I can negotiate a lifetimeās supply of free chicken for myself. Iād also like to win awards for my acting to shut stupid commenters up about me taking roles from āreal actorsā.ā
