How I Organize Plots and Subplots
As an author with ADHD, I 'm always looking for new ways to get my jumbled ideas out on paper.

Title: "Get ready, little fox"
Summary/Hook: After a chance encounter leaves her soaked in rainwater and exchanging numbers with a stranger she should probably avoid, Sadie finds herself pulled deeper into late-night phone calls, sharp flirtation, and the growing feeling that Onyx might be the worst decision she’s ever wanted to make.
Trigger warnings: suggestive dialogue, smoking/cigarettes, mild language, dark romance undertones,late-night stranger danger vibes, age gap (not clearly mentioned), possessive pet names: “princess,” “little fox”. tension-heavy romance, reckless decision making.
There will be more specific trigger warnings for different oneshots and or chapters if i choose to continue this idea.
Tentative, unfinished opening to Meldrene's storyline I began writing out recently. I hope I captured that feeling of mystery, of bizarre otherness and strangeness and all the other emotions well in this!
Word Count: 614
Meldrene opened her eyes to the fading sear of a phantom pain in her chest as she woke, feeling the soft touch of a feathery bed below her.
Disjointed from the pain, a hollow feeling persisted in her heart. Her chest tightened and a single tear glistened from her eye as she stared upwards, and a sudden, vast feeling of melancholy spread all over her being.
Where am I?

I don't know why most authors like to write Love/Hate either as "MMC behaves like an asshole towards FMC from scratch, to which she reacts accordingly, nothing changes during the course of the plot, just pretend that lust is love", or "FMC behaves like a bitch towards MMC due to his well-founded judgement — that he tolerates for some reason — nothing changes during the course of the plot, just pretend that lust is love".
It's so infuriating and uninteresting, why?… No actual conflicts or well-founded stances.
Hi, anon!
I've noticed it too. If the MMC is really an asshole, the FMC is usually absolutely pathetic. She is crying, trembling with fear, never tries to use her brain, always unfailingly experiences the body betrayal syndrome and keeps changing her opinion on him every five chapters. I've read a book recently where the FMC, a princess, had to marry some local tyrant she hated, and instead of opposing him in a smart way and undermining his rule from within, which would be an interesting story, she just locked herself in her chambers and refused to attend the meetings. Who doesn't want a heroine who acts like a tantruming child? On top of that, she couldn't make up her mind about him for the entirety of the book. "Ah, he is so evil! He is hot though. Oh no, he is horrible! But the sex is great! Maybe he's not that bad! Ah, he apologized for his shitty behavior; he's the love of my life! Oh no, he did something wrong again! HE IS THE WORST MAN ALIVE!!" Girl. Stop.
The opposite situation is where the MMC doesn't have any semblance of a backbone and turns into a simpering idiot groveling at the feet of the FMC, even if he met her twice and she acted like a lunatic both times. The only difference is that he is not allowed to change his opinion on her for the worse and must be reassuring, protective, and devoted 24/7; otherwise, he is a selfish asshole who doesn't deserve her.
For the books that position themselves as romance, they are incredibly low on romance. It's pretty much insta-lust with the mutual horniness being the only common denominator between the leads. They never have meaningful conversations, never have consistent views, never provide a serious intellectual or ideological challenge for their counterparts. All those stories seem to have the exact same formula.
NOT EVERY MMC KEEPS THEIR HAND AROUND THE FMC'S WAIST WHEN THEY ARE JEALOUS
those quiet jealousy scenes in books when fmc laughs at someone else’s joke and mmc suddenly wants to be the only one who gets that sound out of her
