Oh my. I should probably start by telling you that the first time I watched a con, I was very shocked with Jared in particular. I thought “This guy is straight?! Huh?” Jensen pings for me too, but in a different way - I think it’s more in connection to his behaviour around Jared and not as much when he’s alone. I think I started picking up the signals from Jensen when I realized that he and Jared are an item. But let’s begin!

I know a lot of fans have pinned their hopes on divorces at some point, but they could theoretically stay married for many years to come. I can think of a few bearding couples who have been married for literal decades because it still works in their favor, but lead separate lives and the general populace just thinks they make it work long distance (sound familiar?). It’s not like the marriages really impinge on their lives, they live in separate countries most of the year, and G and D especially could be literally anywhere in the world when out of the public eye. And there’s even less incentive to divorce after SPN ends because most fans will move on to some other show, which means even less people will be paying attention to their comings and goings, which means having to do far less bearding than what they do now.

You are certainly not alone with your thoughts. I know many who agree with you that Jensen and Jared are preparing us for their eventual coming out. I would absolutely love to believe in that too - on some level I perhaps do. What else can I think when one of them deliberately messes up the game, like you said?

I’m definitely one of those hats that don’t believe this lockdown will continue forever. I also think the bearding will come to a halt at some point, but I dare not expect it for as long as the show is on.

I had an interesting conversation with my friend about their situation. She knows nothing of Supernatural or the J’s, but she thought them coming out might ruin Sam and Dean for the general audiences. I hate to say it, but she’s probably right. People still connect the characters to their actors too strongly.

Still, I allow myself some hope that I might see the day when they’re no longer bearding and are able to live freely as themselves. They can certainly count on my support. I’m fairly sure the heavier bearding will happen this month and probably the next, but things come and go so quickly in this fandom that I dare to hope for another Summer Hiatus of Love™. ;) Let’s hope that will come to pass!

Hi darling. I sent you an ask yesterday but I wanted to add to it. I don’t want people to think that I don’t understand the frustration with the bearding. I have notifications set for the Js sm accounts whenever they post something, and definitely the last few weeks I’ve kind of dreaded looking to see what they posted because it’s almost always a bearding post. But what I meant was that if their idea of heavy bearding is just a pic here and there? That’s nothing, and it’ll ease up soon

Indeed. I do miss the J’s social media presence, but what consoles me is that at least Jared doesn’t seem to be responsible for his own updates. To me, this whole thing looks like damage control and a “last hurrah.” Obviously, it could be wishful thinking from my part, but I genuinely feel as though the J’s are trying to establish their beards and themselves as separate people.

Anyway, you’re right about the pictures - so far they haven’t posted any new “couple” pictures at all. I definitely think that the lockdown is quite severe, but I wouldn’t call this “heavy bearding” just yet. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if it’s going to get worse before it gets better from here. I certainly don’t think this is going to go on for more than a couple of months at the most, but it remains to be seen if my crystal ball is reliable this time. ;)
