@finweanladiesweek day seven | freeform: genderbending | maeglin lómiel
But Maeglin prospered and grew great among the Gondolindrim, praised by all, and high in the favour of Turgon; for if she would learn eagerly and swiftly all that she might, she had much also to teach. [...] Wise in counsel was Maeglin and wary, and yet hardy and valiant at need. And that was seen in after days: for when in the dread year of the Nirnaeth Arnoediad Turgon opened his leaguer and marched forth to the help of Fingon in the north, Maeglin would not remain in Gondolin as regent of the King, but went to the war and fought beside Turgon, and proved fell and fearless in battle.
âThe Silmarillion, âOf Maeglinâ [text altered]
Yes. I know I am probably late, but it's better than nothing! So here's my first submission to @finweanladiesweek !!! OCS!!!
TarĂammĂ« TatĂĄiel, Mother of FinwĂ« and HelcarinĂ«
...their mother was a solemn nĂs who loved no one but her children and her dreams. She and Bruithwir married young, and only to produce the children they wished for and sought.
FinwĂ« was their firstborn and TarĂammĂ« delighted greatly in her sturdy young son, who resembled her father TatĂĄ more than he resembled her grey-eyed husband. In her heart, she called him LissĂon, and she prayed to the silver stars above that he too would sire many sweet sons and daughters with dark eyes and tresses like coal. The moment he was born, she took him into her arms and Bruithwir scarcely remembered a time when TarĂammĂ« put him down, or gave him away to be tended to by others.
But FinwĂ« grew swiftly like all elf-children, and soon he was past the twelfth year of his life and TarĂammĂ« saw that her son no longer craved for her touch and attention. Instead, his sharp mind was being drawn towards others of his age and he often toddled after ElwĂ« and HyarmaitĂ« like a wagging tail, or spent hours beneath boughs, singing and writing poems with his young friend, Cemanna.
Though she was glad to see him grow, TarĂammĂ« grew lonely and felt that she no longer had a part to play in her LissĂon's life. So she turned to her husband and asked him for another.
âOur FinwĂ« needs me no longer,â she said after she went to greet him at the edge of Cuivienen. Bruithwir had been exploring with his heart-brother once again, and she had not seen him in over two days. âGive me another child to nurse. It does not matter if you give me a son or a daughter, I only wish for someone to keep me company as Alahasta keeps you company.â
âI too would like a child to keep me company,â Bruithwir said to her, feeling reluctant to agree. âHowever, it seems that our son sees me as no more than a distant figure and I fear that the next child you bear will see me in the same way. You have kept him to yourself for twelve years. I have given you Cemanna and you have kept her from me as well. Am I not FinwĂ«'s father? Is Cemanna not my heart's daughter?â
âYou wander about,â she pointed out. âHow am I to trust you with our son if all you do is gallivant with your brother? You have Alahasta and you have my brothers. But I have neither sister nor mother, so give me a child and so that my heart will want for nothing more. If you remain by my side, I will not withold our child from you and perhaps you may win back FinwĂ«'s love. Do not speak to me of Cemanna. She is mine and wholly mine for your brother has relinquished his duty as a father, and the girl's mother is nowhere to be found. If you wish for a daughter, then let us hope that our next child is a girl. Pray she inherits your wanderlust.â

But Aredhel said: âI am your sister and not your servant, and beyond your bounds I will go as seems good to me. And if you begrudge me an escort, then I will go alone.â

@finweanladiesweek day five | ladies who married in | thÎrwen, wife of maglor | for @mad-hermit
ThĂŽrwen was the daughter of BalthĂŽr, chief of the Mithcuind Avari native to northeastern Beleriand. The rising of the Sun altered the Mithcuindâs migration patterns and threw their ecosystem into chaos, and when the Noldor arrived in their homeland they knew they did not have the resources to resist against their rule. ThĂŽrwen subtly influenced her father to instead offer an alliance through marriage with the Noldorâs lord, and she rode out with her eagle companion to demand that Lord Maglor wed her in exchange for her peopleâs sovereignty over their lands.
Though their marriage began as purely political, ThĂŽrwenâs strong, romantic personality soon endeared her to Maglor, and their relationship warmed into a true love. At the Mereth Aderthad, this relationship expanded to include Daeron of Doriath, and during the Long Peace she bore a daughter, LĂĄminĂ«.
ThĂŽrwen perished in the Dagor Bragollach, refusing the call of Mandos to instead follow her daughter and her beloved partners as a houseless spirit.

@finweanladiesweek day four | idril celebrindal, high king of the noldor
For that she is the rightful heir of Finwë, who led our people to the light of Aman; for that she is the rightful heir of Nolofinwë, who led our people across the Helcaraxë and was our shield against the Enemy; for that she is the rightful heir of Findekåno, who made alliance to free our people from Moringotto forever, and died in this mission; for that she is the rightful heir of Turukåno, who built Ondolindë as a refuge for our people and a thorn against the Enemy, and sacrificed himself for its safety; thus I hail Itarillë Rehtarë Tyelperintal as the High King of the Noldor and Queen of Ondolindë. Long may she reign.

@finweanladiesweek day six | original characters | gwereneth lindamĂriel, daughter of maglor
Maglor and Daeron dwelt for a time on the outskirts of Eryn Galen. It was here that they encountered a shocking sight: a lone Silvan elf-child trembling and mute at the edge of the woods, bearing wounds Daeron recognized to be inflicted by giant spiders and unable to communicate what horror had befallen her. Maglorâs fatherly instincts overtook him, and he insisted on taking her into his care despite Daeronâs concerns about her birth familyâs fate. Over time, the girl came to trust Maglor and Daeron, enough that she slowly began to open up her fĂ«a to them like she would her parents. Daeron hesitated to accept her love, but Maglor was glad to adopt her as another foster-child, and when she finally recovered enough to speak he was so overwhelmed with joy that he named her LindamĂriel for the sweetness of her voice and after the pattern of his FĂ«anĂĄrian heritage. Yet LindamĂriel had locked the traumatic memories of how she had come to be alone and injured deep within her mind, and along with them any knowledge of her birth family. Though Daeron searched for her kin, they could not be found, and so in time he accepted his place in her life and called her his daughter as well.
