#fluff nugget

My fluff nugget sounds like a rock crusher when she purrs. She’s so LOUD.

A tiny little fluff nugget that I wrote today. Not the story I’ve been working on, but I had to get it out of my system. Also on FFN.

                Jane slowly woke up, feeling Kurt’s long fingers trailing up and down her arm. “Good morning,” she said, the smile spreading across her face as she snuggled closer to him.

                Kurt couldn’t help but grin as he found her hand, threading their fingers together. “I love you.” The words almost sounded foreign to his ears; he’d denied his feelings for so long, that being able to say them out loud was scary – but exhilarating at the same time. It was as if all the pieces in his life had suddenly fallen into place when she had come to the door and said she loved him also. He hadn’t stopped smiling since.

                Jane turned her head slightly, bringing their hands to his chest so she could better look at him. “When did you know?”

                “Know what?”

                “That you loved me.”

                Kurt gave a small chuckle and then fell silent as he mulled it over. When had he known? When he told her, it was only because he had finally given himself permission to admit it. Out of fear of her leaving, out of fear of him dying, he didn’t know, he just knew he had to tell her. But that wasn’t when it happened. No, he’d loved her long before that.

                A moment later, his voice barely above a whisper, he replied. “When my dad died.” He felt Jane’s hand tighten around his own, and he closed his eyes, trying to gather the strength to continue. “I know… I know everything that followed.” He paused again, looking down at Jane and trying to read her expression. For her part, she was trying to keep it steady, to let him say what he needed to say. “But that was when I knew. I couldn’t say it, but I knew.” It seemed so clear to him, looking back. Everything else that followed was because he loved her. It wouldn’t have hurt so much if he didn’t love her. “With everything that happened… I just wanted you there with me. That you could make it okay, just by being there.”

                “I’m sorry.” Jane replied simply, pressing a light kiss onto his chest.

                Kurt took a deep breath, trying to reel in his emotions. “My dad… my dad was a monster. Taylor didn’t deserve that, but neither did you.”

                They laid there in silence for a few minutes, each lost in their own thoughts. Kurt was the first one to break the silence. “When did you know?”

                “When I kissed you.”

                Kurt laughed, and Jane felt the vibrations in his chest. “I am a great kisser.”

                Rolling her eyes, she gently punched him. “No, it wasn’t that.”

                “Ouch! I’m not a great kisser?” Kurt faked a hurt look.

                Jane stretched up so she could kiss him, and then paused with a thoughtful look on her face. “Hmm… I give it… three stars.”

                Kurt gave a low growl and pulled her in for another kiss.

                “Okay, okay, you’re a pretty great kisser. But it wasn’t the kiss – as great as it was – that wasn’t why I knew. It was the first time I felt safe, at peace. That somehow this could all work out, as long as I was with you.”

                “Really?”
