The day after Winter Solstice was supposed to be like any other for Elain Archeron. She would wake up with the morning glow and go about her day. She would continue to ignore the string tied to her ribs. She would set aside his gift in a bottom drawer, only to marvel at it later when alone at night. She would act like everything was okay within her heart and head as she fought against the bond pulling her towards one Lucien Vanserra.

Like, a hero kind of similar to Metroman in a way where he's gotten tired of the whole gig but it's not played for laughs or anything, he's just genuinely fucking tired of everything and everybody.

He could have this whole thing where he unnecessarily harshly blows off on his supervillain rival for thinking that they were friends or anything like that and he's like "I fucking hate you and you think everything's a fucking joke when I've been trying to get rid of you for years" and his rival could be genuinely hurt by that, and probably later in the film wants his help to defeat a major villain that shows up but doesn't know how to request his help because he made them feel like shit, it'd be really emotionally devastating in the hands of the right team I think.

And I guess the emotional core of this movie would be the idea of a hero pushing away everyone who ever cared about him because he's so tired and done with everything that he's actively hurting the relationships he has with everyone and turning into an asshole who won't help anyone.

And we've seen heroes neglect the Call To Action before and we've seen how their neglect often results in further harm:

But you never see it come as a result of:
