Look how he tries to help John Dory! Look how he gives baby Branch a pep talk! Look at that heartfelt goodbye between those two*! Look at how he tries to appeal to the good he knows is within Veneer!

That is the make of a good dad! One who would offer emotional support to his kids when they need it, offer them advice, and be patient with them.

Floyd is absolute dad material and you can't change my mind!

Floyd would drop whatever escape plan he has and stay to comfort Veneer, emotionally support him, and try to get him to leave the abusive situation.

If he were to reach his forties, I bet he'd look like he's in his thirties.

I think he may have won the genetic lottery.

but somehow, I can see Floyd feeling sorry for Velvet and Veneer. After all, Velvet and Veneer are still just kids (teenaged kids, but still), and I think Floyd knows that.

I think it would make sense considering his strong capacity for empathy. Plus, I headcanon him to be paternal by nature (which I imagine stemmed from him having baby fever) and have a soft spot for kids.
