Flowers found on my walk. I think these are marigolds. There R 4 main types of marigolds: French, Signet, African & Triploid Hybrids.
French marigolds grow in summer & fall. Since they are a very sturdy flower they can grow well in pots & handle the extreme temps of hot summer & cool fall weather.
Signet (single) marigolds R edible. They have a sweet flavour & often gets sprinkled on salads. So this variety can be planted in flowers gardens or herb gardens. A quick Google search can give info on how to use them in diff recipes. Signets come in deep a maroon color with yellow edges as well as the typical marigold flowers colouring.
African marigolds are also know as Aztec & American Marigolds. This variety has a very large bloom making them perfect for floral arrangements, bouquets & decoration. They have a strong scent which wads off deer, rabbits & other animals. This marigold variety is a little more resistant to dry weather. Signet marigolds are used alternative medicine & work for hiccups. They grow up to 3” wide & come in the following colors: yellow, orange, double orange, creamy white & gold.
Triploid marigolds are a cross between American & French marigolds. They have a very large bloom & very sturdy stems. They can tolerate very hot weather but Aren’t easy to grow. Triploids don’t have any seeds so care & knowledge is needed for best results. Captured in Ottawa Canada Sept 16 posted Oct 2, 2022.
