An unknown face, quickly sketched on paper with oil colours. I was very frustrated, in artistic block, one of many. During the time I made this quick work, my mind was seething with thoughts. Not necessarily negative, but they were many and confused and distracted me. I couldn't concentrate, I didn't sleep enough, I couldn't study. The amount of work was great, the study was a massive bulk that knocked on my conscience, I didn't have enough time for everything, the exhausting heat, my patience was now over. All this to say that summer hurts me very badly 😂 What do you think of artistic blocks? As a hypersensitive person I know them and accept them. Sometimes they are necessary, they represent a turning point. Portrait of the very beautiful, Lisa McManus. It was a real priveledge and pleasure to paint Lisa. She was born with unformed arms due to the drug thalidomide which was prescribed to women in the early 60s for anxiety when they were pregnant. They discovered that it was causing babies to be born with disabilities. The government knew about this for 6 months before they warned people and took it off the market. Lisa's mum took only 2 tablets. Lisa has been fighting to have the rights of the children born with disabilities recognised by the government.
