Fox Season
A short Mikasa X Floch Fic
Wc: 343
“You're a terrible shot.” The man whose voice reached her ears was slowly making his way up the hill towards her. In his hand, he carried with him a basket, unevenly weighted, harboring something heavy.
“Who said I wanted to kill you?”
“You had murder in your eyes, ‘Kasa.”
“You made yourself a target, Floch.” Laughter erupted as the man tossed himself down by the woman, his hazel eyes quickly taking in how her black hair seemed almost brown in the strong sun.
“So you admit it? You're a terrible shot, and you did want to kill me.”
“Obviously.” she replied, lifting her hand to push some of her hair back behind her ear. Wild hair that had escaped the restraints of the hair tie she kept it in. “One out of two things is true.” she offered him a mischievous smile. “I was happy to just decommission you, too, which I managed.” A groan met her laughter.
“You couldn't have made it temporary?” His eyes now travelled to his shoulder, the aching pain never once leaving him. Not even in his sleep, for in his dreams he replayed the moment that nearly became his death; over and over again.
“No.” the woman's voice was as sweet as honey. “Fuck you.”
“Fair enough.”
The pair shared a meal under the scolding sun. Attempting to forget their past, only the gods above had the right to judge them. Between them, somewhere beneath the ground, laid the man that had formed these informal meetings between two former enemies. They had met here, many months ago. One of them here to curse, scream, and cry, while the other stood idly by to silently mourn what could have been. Now these picnics were a weekly occurrence, but besides the occasional banter, the two never brought up the crimes of their past. They knew that neither of them were capable or willing to forget, but good company was scarce nowadays. For now, watching over an old friends grave, listening to the birds sing, together, would keep them sane.
Notes:
This fic was abandoned for a while, and it was supposed to be so much more than it is.
I hope to write them again, but i believe this is a pairing (romantic and platonic) i can mainly see in a modern setting.
