Ackermans get their power when they're bonded to an Eldian.

Levi unexpectedly bonded to Historia when she punched him . His protective bond slowly makes him want to be near her to protect her . Helping with orphanage and seeing her during meetings . Slowly his protectiveness turns romantic. He finds himself craving her presence.He realises it late that he has fallen for her. He feels heartbroken ; " She'll never love me or look at me that way." He pines for her trying to stay away from her . He doesn't realise that Historia feels that same love and attraction towards him.

When it was decided that Historia should get pregnant. She didn't want another man ; He didn't want her to be with another man .

Emotions break lose , Historia knows Levi feels something for her. She confronts him , asking him to marry her, he says no , he says she's better off with someone her own age , she calls him a coward for running away from his feelings. He claims he's doing for her own good . She says she was done doing things that seemed good when she stopped being Krista. She punches him , crying , he lets her . She kisses him . He responds. He can't deny his love . One thing leads another they end up in bed . Kissing him felt like pure bliss and peace but making love with him was heaven . Just him & her . No Captain, No Queen. Only Levi and Historia.

Morning comes , they make love again . He tells her that their fairy tale bubble is going to burst . The war is coming, he's a soldier on duty , she'd probably end up a widow or in a heartbreak. Historia is ready to take chance , even if it ends bad. He tells her if they married their children might not be able to inherit Titans because of his Ackerman blood . Historia tells him she doesn't care about titans , why would she want a less life life span for her children? She tells him he's a coward . She tells him after they had made love he still wants to leave her . Levi is heartbroken, claims he had been selfish. That she deserves better and leaves her .

Soon Levi joins his squad for attack in Marley . Constantly thinking of Historia. He returns with the brat Eren.

The Survey Corps mets the Queen Historia asking her about the plan to get pregnant. She tells them she's already pregnant. Every one congratulates her.

Hello, it's been a while since I've been active here!

To be honest, a lot of it is simply headcanons, but the most logical choice seems to be working together at the orphanage after Return to Shiganshina's conclusion.

Think about it. Both of their counterparts/lovers confirmed to be deceased, one losing a sun (Erwin) and one losing a moon (Ymir). One cannot exist without the other. But this little project they both worked on gives them something to keep their minds off of their grief as the world around them closes in on the island.
