Fun in the sun ((: float fest did not disappoint!!
🍩 FLOAT😎FEST 🍩 We are bound for South Central Summertime F.U.N.!!! Cool River Ranch - Texas - July 21-22 Tickets and info at floatfest.net @floatfest #floatfest
Hey guys, I'm going to be a little absent from my studyblr this week, just as I was this weekend if you noticed at all. 😂 This weekend my boyfriend, my best friend, and I drove eight and a half hours to San Marcos, TX for Float Fest. It was honestly way too hot for an outdoor festival, but we are a bunch of stubborn assholes who don't listen. Saturday night while watching Lil Wayne, I started to feel a bit light headed so I grabbed my bf and best friend and made my way out of the crowd. I managed to get out of the crowd and sit down, dry heave a few times, and indicate to Nick, my bf, that I thought I needed to go to the medic tent because I started spitting out red. (It very well may have been my lipstick but I didn't care. I'm also pretty sure I was yelling "Medic tent. Now." At him until he heard me over the music, haha, but my details are fuzzy after sitting down.) Anyway, he and this other guy named Tuck, who jumped in immediately to help despite not knowing us, sprinted about 200 yards uphill passing me back and forth. I still haven't found Tuck to thank him properly. They got me on a cot, very quickly brought down my temperature with ice and water, and started a fluids IV. I'm anemic, take Adderall (it's prescribed to me), and have a few other issues that make it difficult for me to regulate my body temperature. I had also drank one lousy drink which may have contributed to my dehydration, and also *may* have taken a little something extra to enhance my festival experience, which I learned from the medic that worked on me that it may have also contributed to my elevated body temperature. (Don't judge me. I'm an adult and it's a very rare thing for me to do.) Turns out I had heat exhaustion that was turning in to heat stroke very quickly and my boyfriend and Tuck had gotten me to the medical tent in just the nick of time. The medics advised me to go home, or at least get a hotel instead of camping but I didn't listen. (I wish I had.) Sunday night, after a day of taking it easy, sitting in the car air-conditioning, and only choosing to go see Tame Impala, which started after the sun had set (not going in to the crowd, completely sober, sitting on a blanket in front of a fan), my boyfriend collapsed and had a convulsive syncope which scared the shit out of me. After getting him to the medical tent, he blacked out and again had another convulsive syncope. The medical team said that heat exhaustion and dehydration were also to blame for this. We ended up staying in Austin in a hotel that night and driving back all day Monday instead of driving through the night like we had planned as we were all so exhausted and over heated. Today we have done little else but lay around in the air conditioning, and we are both starting to feel the full toll this weekend has taken on us. Physically and mentally, we are both so drained that we are going to be doing little else this week but recovering and working through what felt like near death experiences. I am also somewhat traumatized by some things I saw happening to other patients in the medical tent while I was being treated and need to process that. I don't feel like it is something that I can talk about yet on my blog. Anyway. Thanks for reading. All my love, Vix Tl;dr : I got heatstroke this weekend at a music festival and I also thought I watched my boyfriend die and I'm not going to be doing a lot of blogging this week while we recover, but I may answer some questions, etc. Thanks for all of your patience.
