Capitalism: The Hero We Never Asked For
Ah, capitalism. The shining beacon of hope that promises prosperity for all. Or, you know, just for those who already have it all. Itās the gift that keeps on giving⦠to the top 1%.
The Free Market Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, in a land where money talks and everyone else walks, the free market was hailed as the ultimate savior. It was supposed to bring balance, fairness, and opportunity. Spoiler alert: it didnāt. Instead, it became the playground for the rich and powerful, who, surprise surprise, arenāt too keen on sharing their toys.
Democracy: A Casualty of Capitalism
Letās talk about democracy. You know, that quaint little idea where everyone gets a say? Turns out, when money is the loudest voice in the room, democracy becomes more of a suggestion than a reality. The free market, in all its glory, has a knack for turning elections into auctions and policies into products. Who knew?
Critics? What Critics?
Now, some might say this is an oversimplification. But hey, why complicate things? The critics argue that capitalism fuels innovation and growth. Sure, if by innovation you mean finding new ways to dodge taxes and by growth you mean the widening gap between the rich and the poor. But letās not get bogged down by details.
What Can We Do?
Feeling inspired? Great! Hereās a thought: maybe, just maybe, we could consider a system where wealth doesnāt equate to power. Crazy, right? But if youāre feeling particularly rebellious, you might even support policies that promote economic equality and hold corporations accountable. Just a suggestion.
The Inevitable Conclusion
In the end, capitalism is like that friend who always promises to pay you back but never does. Itās charming, persuasive, and utterly unreliable. So, next time someone sings the praises of the free market, just remember: itās not the hero we need, nor the one we deserve.

Flippant
You might notice that I signed this painting and then decided to flip it around, that happens sometimes. Sometimes a piece looks good no matter how you flip it! Which orientation appeals to you? Instagram Facebook Pinterest Tumblr YouTube Link

Christian prayer is respectful prayer. It is conversational, yes, but it ought to be reverent. We come to God as his children, but also as his subjects, as his creatures. We get to relate to God in ways that are special, unique, and intimate. But this should not mean we come to him casually or flippantly. Our prayers donāt need to be formal and eloquent or even particularly intelligent, but they do need to be respectful.
