LITTLE PREVIEW
It had been one of the first times she was sure that Cullen had felt something towards her other than just mutual respect. She had gone over to discuss her next trip out to Storm Coast and the former Templar had been stretching at the bottom of the ladder leading up to the loft. He’d been so into his routine that he hadn’t even noticed she’d entered.
“Do you often provide shows for your colleagues, Commander? Or should I count myself one of the privileged few?” she’d asked playfully, a bit of breathiness in her voice. He’d given her a second glance, the heat rising up his cheeks as he gave her an embarrassed chuckle.
With a rub to the back of his neck, the muscles gently rippling beneath his shirt, he muttered, “Oh, Inquisitor, I didn’t hear you enter.”
She had leaned up against the ladder near him, eyes drifting up the soft tunic to meet his gaze with a small smirk. “We Dalish are quite light on our feet.”
“Apparently so,” Cullen had whispered, before giving her a softer smile. “What um… What do I owe the pleasure of this visit?”
“Does the Inquisitor need a reason to visit her commander?” Avi had murmured softly, brushing past him towards his desk. Her hand had drifted over the map. “I just… needed to discuss my upcoming trip to the Storm Coast.” Her eyes flickered up to him and then back down to the map. “Am I permitted to leave with Cassandra? Do you need her services for anything?”
Avi'merra had leaned against the desk facing him, her eyes dancing with curiosity steeped with the sternness that encompassed the responsibility of her leadership role. Cullen took her in and approached, leaning beside her against the desk.
“Well,” her commander answered, “we should be fine for a bit. How,” he cleared his throat. “How long will I be without my Seeker… and my Inquisitor?”
