The main thing that makes the Northern Irish conflict different from other sectarian conflict is their obsession with flags. Jake O’Kane, who we saw live at a show at the Belfast Empire Comedy Club, gave a hilarious explanation of the flag obsession on a BBC Northern Ireland program.
Indeed, the most troubled areas of Belfast and Londonderry/Derry are full of flags and loaded visual symbols.
