“Perhaps it would clarify what his intentions are behind joining me— us— if I simply let you on to what I know, very much thanks to Hughes’ unfinished report he meant to communicate with me the night he was murdered. Intelligence believes that Fuhrer Bradley is also a Homunculus, and he has been to Dublith specifically to try to find Greed and kill him. For what reason I do not know. It seems there is a connection between them that is problematic.
Greed has said that their ‘Father’ wants him to return to him and will stop at nothing to persuade him into doing so, even if it means taking his life. He fractured himself from their ‘family’ on his own approximately one hundred years ago to accomplish his own goals— which involve obtaining anything and everything he wants, hence his avarice. Knowing what I know now about the Homunculi and this ‘Father’ figure, I don’t see why I should be suspicious of him.”
Edward froze at the information. That was. a lot, all at once. A lot, and serious accusations, if true.
Bradley, was... one of them? Bradley was a Homunculus? Edward knew the military was hardly perfect, that there was corruption in the ranks (Ishval was easy proof of that) but he'd had no idea it went that deep. That the corruption went all the way down to it's very center.
"...No wonder the bastard stood out in the open during my certification, even if I had stabbed him he probably would'a just shaken it off!" Though it did make him wonder why Bradlye saw fit to watch those in person... Searching for people? Making sure he knows exactly what all the Alchemists are capable of? There was something there, that was for sure.
...He wondered if any of the books in the library had information Mustang could use. Unlikely. Probably anything of value was long removed. But codes existed, so maybe if he got lucky...
"Kind of a weird reaction, if that's true." And he didn't know why it wouldn't be, coming from Mustang. Prior lies about Hughes aside. "Even if he wasn't working for him, sounds like he was happy to just not get involved entirely, for or against - this 'father' guy being so obsessive about it is weird." There was definitely something strange there. Strange and important.
Edward sighed, then. Slouching and looking as frustrated as ever.
"Fine, fine. I'll give him a chance. Be weird of him to lie about wanting to keep me safe, anyway - plenty of ways to screw with me that don't involve something this complex."
