Summary: Hunter and Fitz, escaping from Hydra, end up in 1960s rural America and find a friend and ally in a small town farmer who gives them shelter. Even though they're trying to get home back to SHIELD and their team, they find that they have a home here with each other.

My honest opinions on:
Dousy: This is probably my favourite AoS ship, so unlikely yet it makes total sense, and they both deserve to be happy after everything they've been through (especially Daisy though, she needs some therapy). It's definitely the healthiest relationship she's had. They balance eachother really well, and the very few scenes that we got of them together were absolute gold.
Fitzsimmons: Sadly this is one of my least favourites now. I say sadly because this was my favourite ship since day 1, but from season 3 onwards they became solely focused on eachother, often at the expense of others and their own personal character development. I still love the adorable, socially awkward pair that they made at the beginning though.
Philinda: Love it so much, their loyalty, trust and decades of friendship make it really great. I also love them platonically, but I do wish they'd ended up together after 5 whole seasons of pining instead of having Coulson die the minute they get together. I don't think it would have been very hard for the writers to have the team time travel and save him or something, but oh well.
Skimmons: I didn't always ship them, but I'm starting to now, after reading @stilltryingtowrite's fic Promise I'll Come Home. In the show, it's never implied that they could be in a romantic relationship and yet there's a lot of content that's slightly... ambiguous, let's just say. I feel like even if this ship isn't canon, it's really up to the viewer to decide, cause some of their scenes could be either platonic or romantic.
Huntingbird: This ship is great. Even though they may not be the most stable couple, I love their bickering and I wish we'd gotten to see them in the last season (which would have definitely been possible, in my opinion).
Fitzhunter: I've never really considered this ship because I ship both Fitz and Hunter with other characters, but I do see why people ship them, they have a great dynamic and are hilarious together.
Skyeward: HATE it, the absolute worst, I can't believe I shipped it back in the day.
Peggysous: This was such a good ship, and I keep forgetting how much I love it til I read new chapters of @momentofch-aos' fic To Belong. Even thought I prefer Steggy and Dousy, I do really like it, and I wish we'd at least gotten to see how it ended or some sort of closure.
Mackelena: Very underrated, I love their dynamic together but even more their dynamic with Flint. I really like how their personalities contrast and balance the other and how they make a really good team.
It feels insanely stupid to say out loud, perhaps that’s why he never actually says it, but there’s something about wearing cardigans now which leaves Fitz feeling so wrong. For someone who had basically lived in those, and zip up hoodies, since the day he joined SHIELD, whose ID photo for over a decade had been a shot of his cardigan wearing shoulders, he feels like he’s lost a part of himself, not being able to wear them again.
Which is so stupid because at the end of the day, they’re just clothes, and it shouldn’t reduce him to this every early morning that he forgets he can’t seem to wear them anymore. “This” being frozen in front of his wardrobe, cardigan halfway on, always with one arm on and the other hanging loosely at his back. Every single time he forgets it’s the same old routine, stare at nothing while he hyperventilates until something breaks him from his spiral and he has to take it off and make himself presentable to the world.
What he hadn’t accounted for, however, was the fact that he had company this morning, and that none of his team were deep sleepers - none of them had the luxury of doing so. Instead of being shaken from his panic and self-loathing spiral by an alarm or someone knocking on his door, it’s the soft caresses of Hunter gently pulling the cardigan off of him and tugging Fitz into his arms, embrace tight enough to be felt but loose enough to break free at a moment’s notice.
